My sister has schizophrenia. She has the weight gain, diabetes etc. She is in therapy. She is over 60 and was diagnosed in her late 20's/early 30's. Is there a better medication to help with the weight and diabetes or is it too late? Thank you for your brilliant lecture!
Thank you so much for sharing about your sister. It sounds like you’re really looking out for her, and I’m touched by how much you care. While I’m not a doctor and can’t give specific advice on medications, I do encourage you to talk with her healthcare provider. There might be options that can help with the weight and diabetes, even after all these years. It’s never too late to explore ways to improve her quality of life. Sending you both lots of love and support as you navigate this together. ❤
You're right! I apologize for my error. According to the DSM 5TR presence of one (or more) of the following symptoms is required: 1. Delusions. 2. Hallucinations. 3. Disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence). 4. Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior. The key here is really the duration though or the "brief-ness" of it- more than 1 day, but less than 1 month.
Thank you for this informative and helpful lesson. It was easy to understand and well organized.

@GeminiGemini2478 thank you so much!! I"ve been considering that diet...I'm such an animal lover it's challenging but I know it will work for me!
Refering to 21:20: I think in brief psychotic dis. only one symptom is necessary for diagnosis and not two.

I hear voices that make up stories and framing family and it was not true.
How did u stop
We dream the things we think why did it not register
I think that we figured out that we are being used in a game
If you on meds you feel dead and you mis your friends
You dream the things you think
Too fast
So sorry about that. If you go to the gear icon on the video, you can adjust the playback speed. "0.75" might make the pace sound a bit slower.
