When you said Beretta has been in business for 500 years I laughed out loud for a second because it sounds like an exaggeration but it's true! Pretty crazy!
One advantage of the tip-up barrel not mentioned is that it can be unloaded and reloaded without having to worry about bullet setback after many rechamberings
I'm not a user of .380, however I've always loved the look of the Beretta handguns, and the Cheetah's are some of the most handsome pistols around, along with the CZ 75 series of handguns. I really wish Beretta would re-introduce these handguns though, as I think they'd sell decently!
Hey Sootch I had a friend who served as a Sky Marshall on Israel's El Al Airlines. He said they were issued Beretta Tip Up .22 pistols. They were trained extensively to make headshots at long distances inside the airliner.
@@enricomandragona163 Yes, that was the reason they were armed with .22 pistols. I am not sure they had frangible rounds that broke up on impact in the 70's or 80's. He said they trained a lot and all became very good marksmen with the Beretta .22 pistol.

A couple of things to note: The date code on the frame (BU) indicates this pistol was manufactured in 2004. That being said, not going to be a blued slide, but more likely a Bruniton finish. This would likely account for how this pistol is also in such great condition. Beretta makes a dang good pistol.
I worked at a gun shop 20+ years ago and passed on one of the M86 Cheetah's brand new in the box for $475 at the time. Been kicking myself about it to this day.
The 1911 made a complete resurgence. The hi-power and ppk are on a similar path. Just give it time and our favorite guns from the 80s/90s will start to be remade and sold at a premium. Im waiting patiently on a p230 myself.
Love Beretta guns. This is an amazing example. Sure it is big for a 380 pistol, but I would take one of these over a S&W Shield EZ in 380 everytime! You have a great Beretta collection, sootch00!
Now get your hands on an Astra A-60. I use Cheetah mags as a base to mod them for use in A-60's. Both are that special weird mash up of features that you just can't get these days.
I just finally got one. Thing shoots good. Have 84fs cheetah and couple 81bb Berettas. It's definitely cool. Guess I got to get the rest of the cheetahs.
If Beretta made one in 9mm Para, I'd have gotten one back in the 90's. Awesome design. Got a 21A in .25, love it. Had a Tomcat in .32, and it never fed right, so Beretta cut me a check.
No way to do a 9mm parabellum tip up barrel pistol its a feature only for non lock breach guns. The barrel its fixed and the slide should be super heavy to keep up with the the task of delaying the opening of the breach during fire.. Cheers.

Just a note on most Beretta 80 Series pistols. You can easily remove the magazine disconnect feature. Beretta shows you how in the owners manual. They sometimes get an unfair rap regarding this issue in other reviews. I removed it from my magnificent 85f over 30 years ago and haven't put it back yet (which appears to be easy as well).
I have an original Blued model 84 B with the rounded trigger guard, double stack in .380. Holds 13 + 1. It's One of my favorite carry guns. I would love to have one of these 86's for my collection. I wish Beretta could make a 9 mm in EXACTLY the same size as the Cheetah series. It would take over the market. The perfect size carry gun & beautiful to boot. Love Beretta's.
Colonial Williamsburg Williamsburg Virginia at the powder magazine there's a bunch of Beretta flintlock muskets that we use during the revolutionary war so he is right about being a very old company I think it's more like 600 years old but I could be mistaken
I think with its tip up barrel, it will do great for a more fragile hand with reduced recoil on a medium frame format. This one’s, I believe, good for concealed carry as well
I need to get a tomcat. Also, some may dismiss 32 ACP as a defense round, but if you load it up with European .765 Browning labeled rounds such as the Sellier & Bellot, they are loaded noticeably hotter.
Just FYI-The early Tomcats had a frame that would crack-especially if you used hotter than recommended loads. To beat that, you’d want an Inox model with the stainless steel frame.

I have owned my 86 fit about 8 years. When I picked it up the first time I fell in love. I also have a Bobcat and have owned a Tomcat. My wife has a nickel 84 and I did have a 85 but opened my mouth and sold it. Love the Berettas.
I bought one of these about 8 years ago, when I first saw it I knew I had to have it. The one thing I can’t bring myself to do is fire it, it’s just too darn nice to shoot.
I just sold one of these after having it for decades. Shocked at how much I sold it for compared to what I originally purchased it for. If beretta was smart they would reissue these since .380 is making a huge come back.
I always wondered how they worked I worked security at a apartment complex the landlord had a pistol for almost 20 years and never fired it so needed some help cleaning it checking if it still functioned at the time I had never seen a tip up barreled pistol so I never knew how it worked.
I have a Mod 86 bought it brand new for my Daughter to shoot because at the time She was to young to rack the slide. The pop up barrel was perfect for her to use and learn on and the reduced recoil helped her a lot also. She is LEO now and shoots better than I do, but we still enjoy shooting this pistol from time to time. Thanks for this video sootch00 Be Safe

That was one of my first guns I bought, after the 92F. Only thing I don’t like about it is the trigger will not fire with the mag out. Only time I ever had a unwanted discharge was with this gun.😮 This was my carry gun for about 15 years, and I may go back to it as it’s a small gun that fits my large hand. Oh and the other thing is the round in the chamber will not eject if the mag is out😱

It was selling new for $415 and I thought it was too much …. I soon realized what a mistake I had made by not buying it and I never could find another one for that price , and eventually not at all . I ended up buying a Cheetah 84FS some years later which I still have brand new in the box never fired ( the box has a sticker on it that says “ celebrating 💯 years , 100th Anniversary “ but there’s no markings on the pistol that says it’s an Anniversary series ) I think you’re right that they discontinued the Cheetah series though. Still today I keep looking for one of these 86 tip up Cheetahs to show up at a gun show .
Beretta is my favorite manufacturer of them all, if someone was to ask me could I live with having nothing but Beretta's? I believe I could, I love the 92 series, the cheetah series, their double barrel shotguns, and many others they just make some of the best guns in the world, in my opinion

That looks like a shorter version of the Beretta 92 with a tip up barrel and I would love to own that pistol or have one of them thanks for the video scooch
The most reason for tip up barrel is for unload the gun, that gun doesn't have the extractor piece, if the shooter needs to unload a chambered round, the main way is tip up the barrel
Ah, Beretta ... beautiful and amazing firearms ... and for 500 years. Like so many kids that grew up in the 80's, I knew that someday I'd start buying 'em ... 'cause I'm a huge fan. Well, I was. Beretta USA just doesn't seem to be living up to the reputation of their parent company. I bought my 92X RDO/FR at the beginning of July. It failed at the range, right out of the box due to light primer strikes ... confirmed by the range's armourer. I had it for a few days, the gunshop I purchased it from had it for a few more. Beretta USA has had it for 2 and a half months. Despite my attempts to contact them in order to determine when ... or if I'll be getting my handgun back, their customer service department seems bent on refusing to communicate with me, regardless of what I try. This weapon was purchased so my wife could have some protection in our at-home office. I hate to think what would've happened if she had needed to use it. In conclusion, I'm happy to see all those enjoying their collectibles, I truly am. But this 1st in my collection of Berettas will be sold the moment it's returned to me. Finally ... you should read their FaceBook complaints page ... this seems to be a growing problem.
I just like the idea of the gun. Instead of cocking it you can keep the magazine full and have an extra bullet in your pocket for quick break action-like barrel loading. It does suck that its stuck in .380, so good luck finding extra magazines for it
"The tip up barrel is super convenient", racks slide to check the chamber. Old habits die hard. Also, reviewers always mention that the tip up barrel makes the gun easier to load but it also makes it easier to unload. On some pistols, racking out an unfired round can be tricky.
This and a Steyr something 9mm, with a full front grip press able safety are the weirdest guns I have shot. The Steyr didn't live long, but I had some intimate time with this Beretta and it sucks! This is a great pistol.....for an ornament or safe piece to show around. As an EDC and training it malfunctioned regularly, although full metal, it kicks a lot. It's nice to have, but will never recommend this for EDC, or even a range gun! P.S. I don't see a problem with the M9 or 92FS, compared to some modern pistols I prefer the old feel,manual safety, no firing pin block and NOT drop safe!

it can be helpful. However some people with weak hands might have an issue with the DA trigger pull

Yup bought two 86’s for my wife and I about 10 years ago for our old age when we can’t rack the slide. Paid $1000 each. Both were in new condition.

Have the Tomcat in 32ACP. Great functioning gun, but it's like holding a firecrackers in your hand when it explodes when shooting it my pistol.

This is the best 80 series pistol & the one they should have kept producing. If one hand gets injured you can still run the gun.

This is a great pistol.....for an ornament or safe piece to show around. As an EDC and training it malfunctioned regularly, although full metal, it kicks a lot. It's nice to have, but will never recommend this for EDC, or even a range gun!
P.S. I don't see a problem with the M9 or 92FS, compared to some modern pistols I prefer the old feel,manual safety, no firing pin block and NOT drop safe!
I havexs bunch of berettas, but my carry guns are CZ75, PPKs, or beretta PX4 subcompact. It is a big clunky gun for a carry piece.
