  • In this video we are repotting my new coelogyne pandurata orchid species. I also give you my care tips for growing coelogyne pandurata. Coelogyne culture is very easy.
    Coelogyne pandurata grows in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and the Philippines as a large sized, hot growing epiphyte or terrestrial. This orchid blooms in late spring-summer out of the center of new leads with up to 15 flowers on a terminal, arched to pendant, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long. The blooms open simultanously and are highly fragrant of honey but are short lived. This orchid needs a wide pot or basket, as it spreads out quite rapidly. A good medium it is small bark, mixed or not with sphagnum. The best time to repot is when the new lead emerges and you see new root tips growing.

    Nice vid! I'm up in Canada and it's SUUUUUPER dry in my place, so I grow this like I do my phrags...always in a tray with a bit of water. Surprisingly, considering my humidity is under 40%, my pseudobulbs are fat and happy and the plant has recovered nicely from it's home in Asia :D Thanks for the tips @MiracleOrchids!

    When you are fertilizing, and using fungicide and other additives, do you recommend when using all of them together to measure the ppm for instance i try to stay around 160, 190 ppm for fertilizing, that's with calmag, so if I were to add physan or thymol, what should I look for?, Or should I just mix my fertilizer, and use my additive as directed?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, physan doesn't add ppm. Calmag should be around 80 ppm added, that all. You can mix more toghether just keep in mind to not reach a higher level than 250 ppm and also if you put calmag with fertilizer, your fertilizer might already contain those nutrients and you don;t wanna over fertilize. I would mix MSU with calcium (not calmag) and silicone and fugicide or bactericides all at once, but with caution, adding a bit at a time and mixing very well after each substance.

    Thanks for the great information. Why do you use plastic to repot your orchids? I've always been told to use terracotta pots.
    Thanks for the share!

      Hi! Teracota pots are best for orchids which love to dry in between waterings. Like cattleyas. Definitely not for coelogyne

    Hi Anna Maria, How is your c.pandurata doing? did it take the repotting well? Has it grown a lot? Can you do an update on it, please?

      Hi, Mary! Thank you for the request, I'll definitely do so. It's coming up an update on the orchids growing with Gemma led light, I'll feature it for you there, ok? Couldn't say it has grown a lot, but it sure produced roots :)

      She never did exceptionally well, just growing incredibly slow, and at some point rot settled in, I saved a division of 2 or 3 psb and at the moment seems to be stable in moss. I'll do an update once I see she is growing as a normal orchid. Right now it's sick, not doing much at all. I actually showed her in my last video in the balcony :)
