I can't help it... I fall in love with the contrasting color of the labellum each time I see it!! Oh Coelogyne, such an underrated genus... Congrats again on this blooming, next time it will be even better!! Other than that, identical pattern of growing and flowering in the C. speciosa... Try it, super rewarding species! 😃
Beautiful flower! I actually bought a similar size Col ustiana this spring. I repotted it right away when receiving it because of soggy and decomposing very small bits of bark. In addition i found several centipedes ( i believe i identified it correct as Lithobius forficatus) which generally feeds on smaller prey. I could have left them in the root system to do their job but it kind of grosses me out having these crawling around in my window sills so they had to go in the trash together with the old bark mix. I repotted the plant in a same size pot with fresh bark mix and a few strands of sphagnum moss but plans to move it in a wider but lower pot to as this plant tend to grow very wide as it puts out new pseudobulbs. I still cannot see any active growth but the roots are now spreading in the fresh potting mix and the pseudobulbs are plump indicating good hydration. I guess i will have it bloom for me during next season.
I admire you so much for your patience👍 - I'm still cultivating a patience to "orchid seedlings". I suppose I could commit to seedlings especially if I truly obsess about a particular orchid😊.
Yes the flower does look good pendant . And u are rich this plant can sequentially produce upto 40 or so flowers one after the other which means u will have it in bloom for nearly all round the year . I personally have a medium sized plant of it and it seqientially produced 17 flowers in just one spike. Good luck growing😙
Thanks for this video, Dani. I love this species! I just purchased my first Coelogyne about a month ago. I got a C. lawrenceana, and it is in spike! Anyway, I'm really fascinated by the orchids in this genus now, and I just might end up with an usitana at some point:)
I got a coelogyne asperata seedling today. It’s my first one. My main problem is, my country (state) is in harsh drought and there’s a lot of bushfires so I’m collecting water as much as I can to try and water my plants. I’ve actually lost a few plants outside because of the heat and the drought.
Was in search for culture and landed here. Very comprehensive video on the usitana!

I love its brownish maroon color lip. Quite exotic.

Oh that's surprising hasha an orchid endemic to the Philippines
Love this flower so unique !
I just bought one after seeing your video. The flower spike is browning. I think it could be the fertilizer. What is the fertilizer your're using?

This is just gorgeous.
love to it
Hi there! How's your usitana? How many blooms did you get from her?
I just in love with this elegant orchid. Only one concern about the size. I am afraid it takes a lot of space
Darling plant, great presentation. Can you do an outdoor video? Danny, did you ever make a video on the painting of your pots? Keep up the fab work.
I like the music used in this video...
What is the name of the bark for Coelogyne orchid?
Put a little more could for this plant
