Great video! I do wish you had addressed how the Probe was originally intended to replace the Fox body Mustang as a new, FWD Mustang but when the Mustang faithful got wind of this the backlash was so great that Ford was forced to rename it to the Probe and develop a new(ish) RWD Mustang, as God intended.

You're missing a lot of info to call this a "full look back". No mention of the 79 Indy 500 Pace Car, the return of the GT in 1982 after 13 years, the 79 to 81 Cobra, the 93 Cobra not to mention you state the longest running generation was the SN95 from 94 to 2004 when the Fox Body was 79 to 93. Learn to math, not only that most people split the SN95 into 2 generations calling 94 to 98 SN95 and the New Edge from 99 to 2004. Lastly, the S550. You state this is not a newly designed car but was next generation without losing what was in the previous one. That's how I would describe the SN95 and New Edge because they were both still built on the fox chassis. The S550 got a completely new chassis with independent rear suspension, drive by wire, and electronic power steering. Come on man do some research. You also state the S550 engine options as the ecoboost 2.3, V6 and 2 V8s but if you are going to mention 2 V8s I think you need to mention all 3 V8s because there was the 5.0L in the GT plus they brought back the Shelby GT350 with the 5.2 cross plane and the Shelby GT500 supercharged 5.2L Voodoo. Either mention the Shelby's or don't but the Mustang only had 1 V8 option if it wasn't a Shelby. DO BETTER!

You said the sn 95 was longest running generation. From 1994 to 2004. How's that when the fox ran from 1979 to 1993. 14 years. Also, the sn 95 was a last min decision the prob was set to replace the mustang but public outcry and a flood of letters to ford changed the plan to keep the mustang..

There was no Pony car “segment” until well after the Mustang was born so how did they know to “get in on it”?
Also, the Mustang was named after the horses not the WW2 fighter plane.

Until the Fox body Mustang came out, they should've been called Rustangs. Easily one of the rustiest cars ever made. I remember Car & Driver's review of the '84 SVO; they liked it, but thought it was a poor value compared to the 5.0 cars

A rather shallow overview. I expected more in-depth analysis of the development of the generations of the Mustang, beyond the brief mentions of improved styling and "sport tuned suspensions" Just sounds like marketing speak with no understanding of what that means. I'm shocked and dismayed that no mention of the introduction of the independent rear suspension. I wonder if you even know what that means.

Ford did the right thing, they made just a few Mustang Mach E’s that look completely different than the real Mustang so not to disgrace it. Unlike Dodge killing their best selling cars and risking everything on a crappy fake muscle car with fake exhaust.

Lee Iacocca and his top design guys met at the Fairlane Inn, located at the corner of Brady and Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Iacocca sat at the dining room table and made a rough sketch of how he wanted the Mustang to look. Henry Ford did not know that Lee was going to go through with the Mustang project regardless of Henry's adamant refusal of spending money to design it. But Iacocca went behind Henry's back and had the Mustang project go ahead.
When Henry saw the prototype of the Mustang, he was pissed off, but the New Yorks World's Fair was around the corner and Henry didn't want GM or Chrysler to be the only one's there with a new vehicle to present to the public. There's a good book about how the Mustang came to be built, and the ongoing verbal disagreements Iacocca had with Henry about the Mustang, leading up to Henry firing Lee Iacocca.

@classiccardocumentaries Hope you read the book about how Iacocca got the Mustang project off the floor and how Lee yelled at Henry about how Henry didn't know how much money Ford Motor Company made from the Mustang alone. Henry had no clue how the company made money because Henry was always under the influence of alcohol. Henry the Duce was a constant alcoholic. He had a functional drinking 🍸 problem. Can't wait to see your video about Lee Iacocca. The father of the Mustang.

@@christopherboada7921 I'll look in my personal library and get that information to you. It's an interesting book on how Lee Iacocca drew out on a restaurant napkin how the Mustang should look. The very first Mustang prototype is displayed at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan. Looks totally radical than the Mustang shown at the New York World's Fair. Stay tuned.

My mother always loved the Mustang. When I graduated she bought me a restored 1966 convertible (V-8, Springtime yellow, black interior) that I still own. I had a 1975 Mustang II. Thank you for not trashing this generation. My mother by then had a 1974 Mustang II Mach I. Those cars were good with the V-6 or V-8. Because people were looking for luxury, it really was hard to love these cars with the 4-cylinder. If you bought the plusher version, it simply weighed too much for the engine. Mother's love affair with the Mustang continued and her last one was a 1985 GT convertible that is still in the family. I thought I was a Chrysler guy (Charger, Challenger, Barracuda, etc.), but I'm surrounded by Mustangs, Thunderbirds and Cougars.

I agree with some others, for a "full look back" there is Alot of missing info. No mention of the SVT program other than when the Cobra was released and at that he's wrong. The Cobra came out late 80's or early 90's, can't remember exactly. No mention of the 4.6l . No mention of 2000 GT-R cobra. This is more of a quick glimpse than a full look.

So much info is not right.
    Mach1 , Boss 302 and 429 came out in 69.
No mention of early Shelby Mustangs
And the 68 Charger was getting chased by the Mustang and the Charger would of left it. And you can see in the movie the Charger gaps the stang in parts of it.

I don't know where you get your research from but there are at least three glaring errors in your video. I stopped after the third one because I was starting to get angry. The 1964 and 1/2 mustang was introduced in the spring of 1964 and was a summer release. So, your video is over a year early. That's the smallest of your infractions. The pony car did not exist before the mustang. The pony car is named after the mustang. The only pony cars that existed were the mustang the Camaro the firebird the barracuda the Dodge Challenger and the cuda. AMC also had a pony car. The cars you showed are muscle cars. The Mach 1 was not introduced in 1971. I spent the early years of my life in the first year of a Mach 1 which was 1969. After that I stopped watching the video. It amazes me that people like you put these videos up and don't seem to actually know about the subject matter that they are covering. The visuals are nice. But, your research is terribly flawed. Sorry but I just couldn't help myself. There's just so much bad information here. Try harder. Just as an FYI The 1969 year introduced the boss 302 the boss 429 and the Mach 1. in 1970 that was the same lineup. In 1971 the Mach 1 had a 428 Cobra engine and the boss was a 351 cubic inch V8. After that you're on your own.

@Build Fitness maybe, maybe not. But, if I'm going to put up a historical video and give wrong facts I would be embarrassed of myself and stop doing it, or I would improve my research and stop trying to be a smart-ass with somebody who knows better than them. Or I would put a disclaimer at the beginning of my videos that facts stated in this video may not have real facts.
