This is the first full breakdown video of the history behind a car, so let me know if you would like to see more videos with this format that display other, cars, manufacturers, racing teams, etc.
The history of the Ford F-150, Nissan GT-R or any dead auto manufacturer i.e. Plymouth, Pontiac, AMC, would be awesome or the history of any F1 racing team would be great also 👍
@@frankyo2216 Thanks for the video ides, I will keep them mind and do some research!
For me, the Mustang was dead from 1969 until 1995, when the model once again resumed a more pleasant appearance in keeping with its legacy.
New edge is one of my favorite looking mustangs. Clean sleek edges but also curvy edges. And still small. It's crazy how we don't have pony cars anymore. Just boats with a stupid amount of horsepower.
You skipped the 1971 thru 1973 larger sized mustangs. I had a mach 1 red and black ram air version which was gorgeous.
I really liked the video. It was really well put together. I own the s197 and love it. Makes me smile every time i drive it or just look at it.
We have a 16 gt premium. It's our third stang. I'm addicted to them
Love my 65 fastback. Orginal cali car assembled at the San Jose plant back in 64&1/2
That is awesome! Amazing that you still have it.
bought a 2003 svt terminator cobra new the fact that I still have it 20 years later says it all !!!!!!
great talking points on the 2005-2009. I picked up my 05 about 2.5 years ago after lusting after it since the unveiling. went with the 6 over the 8 for the reduced weight plus i wasn't looking to annoy my neighbors 3 of which also have 6-shooters 😆. makes plenty of noise when i step into the pedal but those sounds are for me haha and shes quick enough to leave everyone else standing still in traffic. best car....everr
You skipped right over Shelby return to ford with the Hertz GT H in 2006. Only 500 were made. Very collectible today.
I love my New Edge Mustang, they all were nice. The Mustang II wasn't all bad, larger engine was needed, but only other issue I didn't like were the taillights.
I'm in love with my 11' GT BLK/Saddle 6 speed 3.55 plus Brembo option. So much fun to drive. It's got 18K miles ❤
Don't forget Pontiac bringing back the GTO that eventually died again... mustang has outlived them all
Day 110 of killing time waiting for warranty parts to drive it again.
One cool thing about the s550 v6 is that it made full-rated hp on 87 gas vs 91 for the eco boost and gt to get their full power.
2v and 3v owners will always say their car sounds better than, but we can all agree the gt350r is special.
Yhis is a great documentry!!
Having grown up in Allen Park Michigan I have to share that the design group was growing more frustrated with less time to come up with a “sporty” car that fit on The Falcon platform.
Lee Iacocca took the entire group of designers to a bar on the East Side of Dearborn, almost in Detroit, where the beer is cold, the burgers good and all is served by pretty women wearing nothing but fishnet and high heels.
Legend has it the car was conceived that day on cocktail napkins.
The name of the bar?
The Mustang Lounge.
amazing video, first mustang was a 1997, second (current) is a 2000, and cant wait to buy another.
Thanks for the support!
I'm with you on the 5th gen. It makes me *feel* something.
Loved the video. Using it for a report on the history of the Ford Mustang.
Then look up that Caroll Shelby said Lee Iacocca did not design the Mustang.
This was awesome! I personally own a 2015 S550 so this was great to see!
Thanks for the support! :)
Great documentary- thanks
Great video, and I hope you build up this channel, so you can buy that 2014 Shelby GT500.
I’ve had my 2009 4.6L GT CS for 1 year 😍🔥
Just got my first mustang, it’s an ecoboost but I love it
Congrats!
Terminator, and boss 429 and the original mach 1 are my top 3 mustangs ever made. The original gt350 and gt500 were good too
That's a great top 3!!
Great research for most of this video. You mentioned, however, when talking about the retro styled mid 2000s Mustang, that the PT Cruiser was an absolute failure. That’s actually not at all the case. People don’t seem to like the styling anymore, but Chrysler sold over 100,000 PTs for 6 straight years. I know people in the mid 2000 that actually owned multiple at the same time because they loved them so much! It’s fallen out of fashion, but the PT was a HUGE win for Chrysler.
I love the s197 stangs. I think they look the most old school out off any mustang since the 70s
Great vid man ! Came to yt looking for mustang history and definitely got it
Great video! Thanks for making it
Who remembers the saleen and roush editions of the s197
Excellent video, really informative. Thanks for posting.
27:20 Shelby made another V6 mustang, very similar to the CS6, called the Terlingua. It was a track focused package, with a supercharger and an angry rabbit logo!
Oh wow nice, first time I've heard of that. Looks awesome!
Most people don't realize the Ford Mustang horse was first made by Bill Swan at international fiberglass,he first drew out a scetch and they loved it so he made it out of fiberglass weighing 74 pounds and Ford paid Bill 100 for it plus Edsel wrote him a Thank you card and this is the exact Ford the emblem was copied from from the man who made the emblem also worked at Ford so he got full credit.
Mustang can be seen on his Facebook page and is family has it now
The Windsor was a 351 but you keep mentioning Windsor as a 302
Very good video
Yes definitely love 💕😘 the longer format keep up the 😃👍 great work!
I disagree about the Mustang 2. Those body styles were based on the very first Mustang sold. That's what they should have looked like. The original was a pony car dont forget. I myself love the big V8 sporty Mustangs too but those small Mustangs were based on the original pony cars and I thought they were awesome looking little cars.
The Mustang 2 saved the Mustang. Yep, they went back to the original Ponycar. Very similar in weight and dimensions.
Thankyou for a great review.
Great video, thanks man!!
Thanks for the support!
Great job summing up the history of the Mustang. What do you think of the 2024 Mustang? I will check your other videos.
I think Ford did a great job with the new S650 design!
@@AntsCarReviews
Love your documentary.
I just got a 2024 GT Premium. LOVE this car !!!
Thanks man for thihs video its very informative
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Maybe make some videos of some of the concepts also.
The first two years (94-95) of the sn-95 Mustang still has the 5.0 with functional vents. 96 to 98 sn-95 has the 4.6 2 valve with no functional vents for some reason.
No mention of the 99-04 “New Edge” with the PI 4.6L. Even though officially considered a SN-95, it is different in many ways.
18:55 - 22:25 I talk about the New Edge
@@AntsCarReviews I'm sorry. I don't know how I missed this. I enjoyed the video. Very cool.
The new edges drive trains were definitely different than the 94 model's. Idk why you think they arent. Different heads, crankshafts, rear ends, trans, different injectors. Just alot better in general.
You did mention Carrol Shelby's life ended in May 2012. He must have been around Lee Iacocca's age. I knew Lee Iacocca retired long ago, but is he still alive?
Good job bro 👍
Thank you for the support!
All is good but you left out a one year model the 1995 Mustang GTS which was Ford’s reincarnation of the Fox Body 5.0 LX
Ford played a great card when they produced a right hand drive for the UK, it has been a hit, the S550 attracts lots of admiration from other drivers and the public , and yes i ordered a brand new one in 2018 a 5.0L V8 which is a fantastic car .
Thunderbird w/ Supercharger Sick!!!
I, very well, remember the intro of the '64 1/2. Loved the looks compared to the early '60s Fords. I tested the waters with a '79 Fox chassis with the turbo, disappointing mechanically. Turbo was in it's infancy, but tranny was full of H2O from the factory, rear end died, interior was a joke. My '08 GT/CS is true to the breed and is a keeper, still love it. Just got word today, my '24 S650 is on the train to my dealer!
Awesome! Congrats on the new one!
@@AntsCarReviews Thanks, guy! Great video, I might add!
The Ford Probe sounds very uncomfortable.(old joke).
LOL!
The roush s197 are so clean looking. So beautiful. Better looking than the saleen versions. Its one of my favorite looking mustangs ever. Google 2006 roush stage 3 mustang gt
Great video, but you might mention that there really is no such thing as a "64-1/2". All 64/65 Mustangs are titled as 1965 models. Yes, early mustangs had a few parts differences, like engines, generators, etc... I've owned a '65 since the 80's. Yeah, maybe it's nit-picking, but it is what it is.
I can see that your favoritism against echoboost shines well
To be honest in my opinion the ford mustang grew from the ford falcon sprint both cars had the exact same chassis until 1973 even though lee iacocca said he doesn’t like the falcon most of the idea of a sporty car started with the falcon they were the first compact car of the 60s then chevy came out with the corvair, ect.
This guy got his generations wrong n no mention of 1971 to 73 mustangs
2010 gt500 had a boost up in power from 500 hp to 540hp. 2011 went up by 10 more hp.
That's impressive because in the 60s, £2,500 was roughly $7,000.
Adjusting for inflation, it's 69K in 2023.
I thought the 3 valve 4.6 did well on power. I test drove a 2005 GT manual, and it would get up and go! The only thing I didn't care for was the shifter. It just didn't feel good in my hand, and was hard to get a grip on.
what mustang engines where a 4 bolt main
Ford needs to bring back The Probe.. The Fusion has been hideous since 2013..
2030! Suppose to be in design now. But I've searched it and nothing but cgi stuff comes up but yes I loved that 24v car. It was pretty cool back in 90s.
Gonna be ev. 2030. Concept now thou.
Shelby had nothing to do with the Cobra II. That was a project of former Pontiac ad man Jim Wangers. It was an appearance package. Ford took it over from Wangers' company.
Caroll Shelby said Lee Iacocca did NOT design the Mustang.
Yeap I'm a proud owner of a black 2009 45th anniversary with 104k I've named her black stallion working on getting stickers so I can put her name on the rear glass and the front glass. Working on getting a 2008 40th anniversary GT500 and if I get it I'ma name it mid evil
Excuse me sir.! The Ford Probe not actually made by Ford but by Mazda. Just FYI.!
A joint venture
Nothing about 71 2 3 mustang?
The Windsor series of engines were 302 cubic inches and a 351cubic inches. You left out the beautiful last mustang cars of the first generations 1971 to 1973 coupes and fastbacks with their sleck body styles.Their were coupes, coupe specials, coupe grande,Boss 351,Mach 1, convertibles, and fastbacks. You left out the 1980's1990's,2000's and newer Saleen mustangs You left out the 2000's and newer Roush mustangs. You also left out the mustangs made by Shelby America,Carrol Shelby's company like the Super snake models, super snake 1000 models with 1000 horsepower.I know it's not a mustang but from 1979 to 1986 Mercury made a clone version of the mustang built on the fox body platform called the mercury capri The capri Rs had the 5.0 liter 302 V8.
You skipped over the best Mustangs ever produced, 1971 to 1973 with boss 351 and Mach 1s with 429ci. How could this have happened?
What Do You Think of the 2024 Mustang?
The corvair is NOT mid engine, it is rear engine like a VW
The 1967 /68 GT Fastback is the Greatest Mustang.
PP2 ?????
You forgot the 1971 big horse mustang.
First v8 was 260 then 289.🤔
2010 there were shelby gt500s.
Iaccoca did not conceive the Mustang. His contribution was to insist on the addition of rear seats to an already existing SWB prototype which, though prettier, was transformed into a practical selling proposition by Iaccoca's modification.
Your assessment of the 289 Mustang is incorrect (and Ken Miles knew better than his ridiculous lines in "Ford v Ferrari"!). The 289 Hi-Po was certainly an enthusiast car in the context of 1964-1/2 Yank tanks, slotting between two Chevelle SS 327s in power output but a much better handler than Chevrolet's intermediate cruiser. And this was before Shelby touched it!.
BTW, the 1967/68 cars, being almost identical, were no larger. Ford accommodated the big-block engine by relocating the shock towers.
Mustang 289 Hi-Po

260😊
69th like 👍🏼
Hahahah nice lol
I’m sure that picture on the wall should tell you all you need to know about this guy. There wasn’t any real cars or drivers of his generation. The guy in the picture sat in a car going vroom vroom while parked in front of a green screen for special effects. He’s not qualified to preach about what was good or not. Glad he’s taking an interest but sadly lacking in facts.
Did I miss the 71-73 mustang. No, I did not, you skipped right over them. The true ugly ducking of the mustang. No one talks about them and you don't see them any where. The mustang II is better looking and also saved the mustang from getting chopped from the line up.
I have several..my 197 is the glass top.i like that one a lot.
Really good reviews bro my respect Really truly knowledge... like I'm a fan of 5.0 gt 2022 coyote engine 6 generation and let me tell you. No such a big difference compared with gt500
Thank you for the support!
