As a half joke/half talking point, I genuinely have a "Case Of Beer" line item in my invoicing software for those little annoyances like low fuel or mountains of personal belongings right where I need to be. I don't get to use it often, but it's fun to watch the hamster fall off the wheel when I do. "Yeah, that's for bringing me a car with no fuel and a driveability complaint, ya pool noodle..."

Dan im a BMW specialist in Africa Zimbabwe nd u have improved my diagnostic skillz eva since i started watching yo vidz...thank u fo yo passion and dedication in this field!!!
Watched the vid as soon as it popped up. When in doubt go generic!! I always learn a lot from DD!! When they bring them low on gas, they pay 30 bucks for 10 bucks worth of gas. I think the beer idea is better
That is amazing! Who would have thought that in generic scan mode you could see actual live data from the sensor not what the computer is compensating.
I remember when I first learned the substitute value from Scanner Danner years ago, he was saying don't trust live data just check sensor output. Great video as always 👍
About the fuel: In my country (in the past) some mechanics used to drain your petrol and said "we did some long test rides to solve your issue". Sadly, after 20-30 years of that there are still people bringing their vehicle always with minimal petrol in tank. It is a bad reflex. Maybe your customer had a similar issue in the past with another mechanic and that's why the tank was almost empty. Sometimes you can't do anything against bad reflexes. Anyway, the video is very informartive Dan, thanks for sharing it. I learned pretty much from your videos and as a "repair my cars and bikes for myself" person I developed a lot!
Taking fuel from a customers car is unacceptable, customers dont have to bring the car in with a full tank either but a bit more than fumes would be appreciated 🤣🤣
I always find it interesting that a lot of the times the very same day as something like this is posted, I get faced with the issue. 2018 E450 6.8L gas obviously with a easy to see miss. Really good to see you back dan😊 it has always amazed me how many people drive around with just enough gas in their car to keep it running not realizing what it's doing to their fuel pump. And these are the same people who never ck their oil😮

Hey Dan! Great catch with OEM vs Generic scan data 😊 One of my customers has a 2006 Hyundai Tucson V6. It had a "lean" condition and the diagnosis showed the mass air sensor wasn't reporting enough air! I unplugged it and car runs beautifully... He's been driving it like that for over a year now, no problem at all 😆👌

Excellent point. ECU creates a 'work-around' to manage the MAF sensor problem and in doing so, generates an erroneous signal. Is that typical or is that a Hyundai creation? Either way, that's not good. Great video, as always.
Question: do you have any video diagnosing an intermittent bad camshaft position sensor and how to distinguish it from a failing crankshaft position sensor?
Great indepth video Dan , so many people don't understand the benefits from using a scope to see real live data , it would be great if customers would accept that it needs doing to definitely give correct diagnosis , even when their friend from the pub who used to fix cars in the 70's told them something else is wrong and they accept his larger 🍺, diagnosis because he is a nice guy , I say well if you want his diagnosis doing it will be X £ , but if you want it right it will be Y£ , don't you love it when they drop the car off and the fuel computer says 6 miles fuel left , then you change the fuel filter , and it won't start 🥊🤬

Is that typical or is that a Hyundai creation? Either way, that's not good. Great video, as always.
Some brands do it this way
Always great work ❤❤❤❤❤
Again another happy customer 👌
😁👍
They only bring the car in with a full fuel tank when the fuel tank needs to be removed😂
@@Diagnosedan oh yes , have seen that a time ir two at least 😁🤣😅🙃🤣
What was the fix thank you for your great videos
