    This quilt is such a work of art - your sister really did a brilliant job. All the details and colours are just brilliant!

    Your quilt is so gorgeous and your sister is so talented- thank you for sharing the special story behind it. What a great family heirloom along with the genealogy paperwork! You are so lucky that your sister is also such a good friend that knows you so well and cares about you so much. I know the feeling is mutual because you're always mentioning that you're saving books for her too. You two are such a wonderful pair! What a great representation of a sister's love and knowledge.

      Aw, your comment almost made me want to tear up a little. I am very blessed to have a wonderful sister. She is 10 years older than me so we didn't really know each other growing up and didn't really have much in common. In more recent years we discovered that we like similar books and started recommending them to each other.

    Again, very beautiful. Love the personal touches to it with your favourite authors and series, including cats and teacups. I am so jealous. A keepsake made with love.

    Absolutely beautiful! Laura Ingalls Wilder is still my favorite author of all time. I have a whole bookcase with nothing but books by and about her.

      Wow, a whole bookcase! I have a whole shelf, but it won't hold all that I have. Have you been to any of her home sites like Mansfield, MO?

    Oh my goodness Elizabeth! That is one of the most beautiful quilts I've ever seen! I love it so much! What a treasure!❤️ I have made a few quilts but I know I've not got the skills of your sister! It makes me want to try to do a simple, lap quilt size though. Where'd she get the pattern? Love love love it!!!!

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks
      @lizziefayelovesbooks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I asked her and she said that she didn't have a pattern, she just found examples online and made up her own. She has always been very creative and not afraid to try things (even without a pattern). I'm still overwhelmed just looking at it.

      LizziefayeLovesBooks ok thanks for asking her for me. I love it! I hope you post a picture of it sometime on instagram so I can look at it !❤️😊

      Elizabeth Wooten as Elizabeth said, I saw a bookshelf on the internet, and googled to find more examples. Then I just designed as I went along.

      Charla Vaught thanks for replying! You did an absolutely amazing job on that quilt! And to know that you kinda made it up as you went is even more amazing. It's definitely going to be a treasured keepsake for your sister! If you ever make another one, you should share a picture. Us book/quilt lovers would enjoy seeing it!

    Your sister did an awesome job. I love it. How did she make the kitty laying on the books?

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks
      @lizziefayelovesbooks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I don't know if she used a pattern for the kitty or not. Most of the quilt she designed herself.

    How did she do the lettering? I am doing a bookcase quilt for my sister-in-law. I just did a title with embroidery (using waste canvas ). Did she quilt it by stitch in the ditch?

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks
      @lizziefayelovesbooks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will get her to answer the second part. The lettering she did by machine embroidery.

    • @charlavaught2681
      @charlavaught2681 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kelley Mueller this is Charla, Elizabeth’s sister. I used stitch in the ditch for the books, so the spines would appear like books on a shelf. I used stippling on the black areas, and I used a free-motion wood grain quilting design on the “wooden” areas of the shelf. I used my embroidery machine to do the lettering. It could absolutely be done with hand embroidery. Hope this helps.

    I love it! Does your sister enter her quilts into contests? If so I know she has lots of ribbons!

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks
      @lizziefayelovesbooks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if she ever enters them in her local fair or quilt shows. We have a local quilt show here every other year and I have shown a couple there that she made for my kids several years ago. I will definitely show this one when the show rolls around again. She did win a Row by Row prize this year.

    Where did you get the words for the Holy Bible?

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks

      They are embroidered on with machine embroidery. That's as much as I know. I don't know what font it is or anything.

    Did you use an embroidery machine to write the names of your books? Love your bookshelf quilt. I am starting one also.

      Hi, my sister made this quilt for me. She did do machine embroidery. There was a similar question from Kelley Mueller. If you scroll down through the comments and check out my sister's detailed response. I hope that will answer your question. Thanks so much for watching and you I hope your quilt is wonderful too.

    You’re a Cowboy?! I’m a Cowboy!!! Are you apart of the the Alumni Association? I just finished my membership and got the super pretty and musical box two weeks ago.

    • @lizziefayelovesbooks

      Yes! I'm from the class of 1986. Both my siblings and our parents went there too. I have not ever joined the alumni association. I do get the letters from them sometimes. There used to be a group here in Florida. I went to a gathering several years ago. I should find out if they still are active.
