These Are the Most Beautiful Toyota HIACE LWB Vans You'll Ever See!

  • Midway through the year 2020 saw the introduction of the first of these upgrades, which improved the connection and user-friendliness of the infotainment system. A larger center console and Toyota Connected Services were introduced in July 2021 (both of which were installed in our test vehicle). Stolen Vehicle Tracking, Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Call, and other safety and security features were included in the app for mobile phones that is included in Toyota Connected Services.
The HiAce comes equipped with a full-size spare tire in addition to a long range of work-oriented features that are included as standard equipment. Its steel wheels are 16 inches in diameter and are covered in plastic. This includes, but is not limited to, manual air conditioning, folding door mirrors that are heated and have indication lights, a tilt-and-reach adjustable leather-accented steering wheel, and two 12-volt accessory ports, to mention a few of the features.
The dual-speaker infotainment system features a large touchscreen measuring 8.0 inches and controls located on the steering wheel. Additionally, the system features DAB+2 digital radio, multiple connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Siri voice recognition, Bluetooth, satellite navigation, and more.
There is a significant blind spot that exists over a driver's left shoulder in not only the HiAce but also in all solid-walled vans. Since our last review, a glass panel has been made standard issue in the sliding door of the cargo bay on the left-hand side (LHS), and this has become the case across the range. This is likely an attempt to alleviate this blind spot.
The gauges and controls on the sleek and practical two-tone dashboard arrangement are straightforward and simple to see, and the controls themselves are intuitive. However, the market leader still does not offer a fold-down inboard armrest for the driver's seat, which is a glaring omission given that such a device has the potential to significantly improve the level of comfort experienced by the driver and that numerous competitors include such armrests as standard equipment.
Its height of 1990 millimeters provides for simple access to subterranean and multi-story parking garages, and its wheelbase of 3210 millimeters boasts an incredibly tight turning circle of 11.0 meters.
When it comes to traction, vans with a rear-wheel drive chassis design have an inherent advantage over front-wheel drive vans, especially when the cargo is substantial. A standard MacPherson strut front suspension, a leaf-spring live rear axle, speed-sensitive rack and pinion steering, and premium four-wheel disc brakes are included on all automatic variations of this vehicle. It also has the customary robustness of a typical vehicle.
What are the most important specifications regarding the engine and the transmission?
Because it satisfies the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions standard, the refined and efficient 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel that comes standard on the HiAce reduces the complexity of the vehicle's maintenance by eliminating the need to refill the AdBlue tank.
There is also a system that automatically shuts off and restarts the engine in order to reduce the amount of gasoline that is used; however, this unpleasant feature may be disabled. It generates 130 kW at 3400 revolutions per minute and a huge 450 Nm of torque between 1600 and 2400 revolutions per minute in automobile variants.
Our consumption estimates, computed from the readings of the tripmeter and the gasoline bowser, came out to be 10.2L/100km, which compared to Toyota's declared combined average of 8.2L. The engine stop-start feature was switched off throughout our testing, which took place over 294 kilometers.
It is impressive that this automobile, which is fashioned like a house brick and weighs more than 2.2 tons (it has also gained 20 kilograms in kerb weight since we last tested this model), came close to reaching single-digit consumption while being driven mostly in city and suburban traffic. According to our calculations, you should be able to anticipate a reasonable driving range of around 680 kilometers from its 70-liter tank.
It is also rated to pull a braked trailer weighing up to 1500 kilograms, and with a gross combination mass (GCM) of 4800 kilograms, it can tote its maximum payload while simultaneously towing that weight. Additionally, it can tow a trailer weighing up to 1500 kilograms. Those figures, needless to say, have a high level of practicability and are suited for a wide variety of jobs, including work and enjoyment.

I'm so happy they put a decent petrol engine in it. I'm sick of diesels and the servicing costs. And 3.5 v6 with a 6sp manual in a light van... awesome

Yeah I wish, but I think the reason is because there is the Proace already so it won't make sense to have this. However I think they should replace the Proace with this.

Are there any plans to release this on the European market? I'm operating a 2002 Hiace at the moment, never a minutes trouble. But if I want a new Toyota van I have to settle for a Peugeot built "Toyota Proace". That don't impress me much!!

Yes, look like rectangle shoe box, but then we must salute Hiace cos it is the best seller in cargo van, commercial van and commuter bus categories in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia etc.
