All the best Shaun. A total gentleman giving up a spot you've started catching in for someone who's struggling . Look forward to seeing more of your videos over the course of the year
Would do this for anyone anytime. Besides the fishing on the day was so difficult. So to help anyone get a fish on days like this. Is more rewarding. Thanks for the watch and most of all taking the time to comment Iain. Happy new year mate. Shaun.
Hi, really great to hear from you. I was watching you on the water, and have to say your casting was very good for some one just getting back into it. Your fly box will need a bit of an upgrade. A few lures such as Gareth Wilson,s. UK fly fisher. And a few more smaller patterns. Diawel Bach being top of the list. Might bump into you again some time. Take care. Happy new year to you. Shaun.
All the best Shaun for 2025. Thanks for all the time and devotion you put into filming and uploading content for us all. Much appreciated mate. :) David
Ye looking forward to a bit of luck for 25. Not started very well. Got myself a bug now. Like a flu sort of thing. So isolating and off work. One good thing its not as cold here as you have got it there. I bet its really cold with you. Lots of snow towards the north. But here, south west wales, its actually cold and sunny. Happy new year David. Thanks mate. Shaun.
Thanks Mark. No the pontoons are real safe. Jamie the fishery manager has tried a few things. But this grass stuff is a good un. Thanks for the comment Mark. Happy new year to you mate. Shaun.
Good video shaun as always I went to my local bigwell had 3 but it was very cold afew people blanked so I was relieved that I didn't blank hope your doing ok mate
Really nice hearing from you Dean. Hope you had a good Christmas. Bigwell came up in conversation the other day. Ye love to help. The young man has made a comment. The feeling when helping people out is great. And it can make a real big difference to there day. Thanks for the comment Dean. Happy new year mate. Shaun.
To me, fly fishing isn’t just about flies or how many fish, but sharing as well. Whether it’s the tackle, the flies, techniques or even your spot. Well done Shaun
Brilliant video shaun. Great to see people getting back into fishing. Even getting 1 fish on a really hard day is more rewarding than catching 4 or 5 or 6 on a normal day, especially when you change your fly and get one on it.
To be honest without Mark putting the Cling Film on I would have never have guessed. This pattern fishes best mid spring to early summer. So I am glad he was there. That can be the difference sometimes. Talking to others. Happy new year Brian. Shaun.
Can't help myself. Will do it for almost anybody. I do understand for a lot of people will only get out on a water once and a while. So time aside is more precious. I may be a bit different. A few hours fishing and I am happy. So time to share is no problem. Happy new year Mike. Shaun.
Yet another brilliant video, luv your videos old son. Can't make them a bit longer can ya lol. Will you be at Staffordshire this February? Would dearly luv to have a chat with you. Happy new year. Hurry up with the next video ❤😅
Traveling for me at the moment is very limited. I need to save every penny. Once I get sorted would love to travel a lot more. Will meet one day. Take care Graham. Happy new year. Shaun.
Fabulous video again Shaun and how gratifying it is to see someone passing on their knowledge and experience in such a generous way. I’ve happily shared my limited knowledge and occasional fly to other fishermen on the bank and it’s very satisfying. Wishing you a really great 2025 and hoping it brings you health, happiness and tight lines. 👍👏🎣🙏
We are all in the same boat really. No matter how much you understand there will always be somebody who may even be new to fly fishing. But on the day they are on to the fish. So sharing is a great thing. I do hear of some people who have experienced a negative from some fishermen. For that person I hope they struggle. WE don't need this. Have a great 2025 mate. Shaun. Oh thanks.
Thanks so much Euan. Not sure but I do think this is your first comment on the channel. Forgive me if I am wrong. I really appreciate your time. Thanks. Happy new year Euan. Shaun.
Don't believe every thing you see on camera. I look at it, yes looks a lot better on camera. Its a Cortland 444 Peach. Which is good. But do prefer a line with less memory. This means getting better has to damn good. Match Catch Avid. Fished this line several months back. Has a long belly, did get used to this. But a great fishing line. This sort of line is very suited to fishing small and slow. Oh its cheap. Happy new year William. Shaun.
@@williamwilson2485 Had a feeling you had this line. I did notice your comment on other channel. Should have asked what you fish with mainly. The lines I am using mostly now are more for smaller patterns. Did look at Celestial lines. They are to aggressive for what I want. I am not so concerned for distance. Presentation more so. But a good line for bigger patterns, such as lures. But a bit to much for the small stuff. All fine as long as we are fishing for stock fish. So you have idea. Short belly long front tapper is good for presentation. Short front tapper for bigger patterns, more aggressive. But more than pleased you are happy with this line. Shaun.
Really great to hear from you Tom. I have noticed where you have been fishing. Talking to a great mate of mine that was on the same water some months back. You did talk to him. Early fifties and bad hip. He said you were a sound bloke. Happy new year Tom. Shaun.
Thanks Dermot. I would like to think that the fishing may improve for 25. Who knows may be it will. But there is a trend. So long as we are aware of these changes we should be OK. Big near stocking. Small is the way to go in the following weeks. Happy new year Dermot. Shaun.
After my performance I am sort of liking this comment. It happens to us all. I think a good thing, as it grounds us. Reality. Thing is you know you will be back on it again very soon. Catch up soon mate. Happy new year. Shaun.
@shaunfishes101 cheers Shaun, happy new year to you to. Yeah, I don't blank often, but as you say it happens. We live and learn. In retrospect I should have tried an intermediate line with a couple of my mini crunchers. Too late now mind...!
As soon as I seen your first comment. It will always stick with me. I am intrigued. I was born In 63 and spent a lot of time living in Huyton. It was my sisters place. Went to most home games. Thanks for the comment. Happy new year mate. Shaun.
Flip net from Sharps of Abberdean. Sea Trout Rubber. I have had a lot of nets. But this is by far the best. Third one now in 30 plus years. Will do a video on them some time, as there are a few tricks to improve them even more. Thanks Scott. Happy new year mate. Shaun.
Most of the time at the moment its the Cortland 444 Peach. Good line. But there is a lot more I require from a line. Will explain soon on a video. Thanks for the support Trevor mate. Happy new year. Shaun.
A while back I was fishing the Match Catch Avid. It does have a long belly, but to be honest I was putting line out within two thirds of the belly. Low stretch and good memory. I have just started thinking about the line myself again. I will fish this before the cortland. And its under £20.
Happy new year Shaun…..like you 2024 was probably my worse season since I switched to still waters….mostly down to our Llyn being closed for four months so I’m looking forward to 2025 and I’m going to smash it! Cracking video as always …what a difference a fly switch makes. Keep up the great work!🤙🎣
Its great hearing your confidence. Wish my problem was just fishing related. We have found big patterns working well around stocking time, but a week or so on the small patterns smash it. Happy new year mate. Shaun.
That was a lovely touch shaun giving up your fishing spot to that young boy amazing mate😊

Nice tutorial Shaun. Those wooden boards look slippery.
Knowing my luck, I would fall in.
Thanks Mark. No the pontoons are real safe. Jamie the fishery manager has tried a few things. But this grass stuff is a good un. Thanks for the comment Mark. Happy new year to you mate. Shaun.
True fly fisherman Shaun, great of you to help the younger chap. Great video 👍
I think most of us would have done the same thing. Thanks for the watch and comment. Happy new year. Shaun.

Hi Shaun hard day there. What floating line are you using. It lies great in water. Not any memory on it. Great you helped that young lad.

Great video Shaun as always. I'm looking for a new waterproof coat and like the look of yours; is it any good?
Nice one mate take care. will chat soon .
Ye. Happy new year.
I blanked last Monday at Ellerdine mate. Place was rammed, not a huge number of fish caught. Had 2 on but lost them..
