What we are looking for is jobs that pay sometimes. Where we can make some real money without having to go far out west in order to get it. Something to do without again going far out west
I currently live in Tucson, Arizona and I’m so over the 6 months of oppressive Summer. Looking at Omaha and Des Moines as possible destinations to relocate. How bad is crime in Omaha? It’s getting out of control in Tucson and housing prices are skyrocketing. I’m a web developer and work from home so finding work isn’t an issue for me. Just looking for a better city.
This is what my husband and I are looking for. We are both born and raised in Massachusetts. We have started our family and are looking to move to a place that is friendly, low key and great for families. Massachusetts cost of living is insane, so much traffic, the people are mean, the commute to work is awful. Omaha sounds glorious. Thank you for your videos!
The food scene, dude. I just moved here in August 2020 and am constantly amazed at how many really good local restaurants are around…old market, blackstone, Dundee, aksarban, and so many more!

Imagine not visiting your hometown for eleven years, where you were born and raised, then finally visiting after eleven years, and finding that your town has become a mid-sized city with lots of new developments everywhere, and you don't even know how to get around your OWN hometown anymore, because it has changed so much. That happened to me.
I was born and raised here in Omaha, left in 2002 and lived all over the world, built a house here in 2006 and finally moved back full time in 2014. There is no place I would rather raise my family.
I’m from Texas and went to Omaha for job as a canvaser, and I think it’s very family oriented, me being a young father would love to one day move in with my family and raise my son there.
Me and my wife are relocating out of Oregon this year, and we didn't choose Omaha. We decided to go with San Antonio Texas, basically due to the amount of things to do there, the amazing restaurant scene, The Nightlife, and housing that is surprisingly affordable for a big city. But to let you know Omaha was a close second. Maybe one day if we decide to we might just head up that way. But I do enjoy the videos.
Amazingly enough plans change. So we are going to be staying in Oregon a little bit longer, and I am looking to avoid Texas due to their power grid problems. So I am giving Omaha a little bit deeper look. It won't be anytime soon, but eventually we might be heading to Nebraska.
I ended up going to SC from Oregon.. now I am in FL. I had the right idea leaving Portland area but going to the south didn't end up working out and I even find FL is increasingly becoming like Mississippi even. Imagine? And in the city of Tampa. I thought this would be a mainstay but it looks like it might not be. So since my folks are not leaving Oregon to go back east Me picking Omaha might have been the right answer all along so I can be in-between . I just didn't do it because now I see why FL was not 1st on my list when I tried 2 leave Oregon now.
My family homesteaded this state and relied on the train system. We need a decent public transportation system today. There used to be a reliable train system that connected Omaha to middle Nebraska. It is all gone.
I don't know if many people appreciate the work he puts into these videos he gets the clip for example driving into gretna when mentioning it. Gretna is my hometown I recognized that immediately and appreciate him doing what he is explaining taking the 30min tops drive to get that shot

Just randomly typed in Omaha, Nebraska and this is one of the first videos to pop up. Great info!!! Now I’m going to drive there from Gary, Indiana just to take my kids to the zoo!
I live in downtown and have a fantastic east view of the metro (WoodmenLife, FNBO, baseball stadium, Chi Health Center, Bob the bridge, etc). Outside of the pandemic, downtown and Old Market are fantastic places to hangout. And shopping in West Omaha is a short 20-25 min drive. Altogether, Omaha is a good city!
The weather is good. I ride motorcycle and golf every month of the year. We get several days in the 50s during December to March. The wind blows everywhere so can’t say we have horrible wind. You want wind and cold move to the Dakotas or MN.
We LOVE the zoo and have been annual pass members for years. I am now in my early sixties and every time I go I get so exhausted walking up and down all the hills. We always laugh that in a state that is 99% flat, the zoo found the one part of Nebraska that is all hills to build a zoo....lol.
I'm a Denver area native, but getting frustrated with what my parents could do 30-40 years ago (buy a house, have a reasonable commute, ect) seems out of my control to me today. As I'm looking to build a life and career somewhere else, Omaha maybe it. I want a place with culture, museums, and niceties. I love Indian and Greek restaurants.
Grew up in Omaha but left the snow in 1977 for AZ, GA and last 4 yrs., Vegas. What l missed most was Joe Tess Fish House...really! Family still lives so hitting 75, thought it best to be closer to son so moved back last September. Can't say it was the best decision. l'll reserve judgement until Spring and summer weather gets here and Covid scares have past.
Thinking very serious about making a move to Omaha after being in Honolulu the last 19 years. Actually, Can't decide yet between Omaha and Sioux Falls. Both are very nice.
Sioux falls is definitely a smaller town when you compared to Omaha Nebraska. If you're looking for a more modern urban area Omaha would be the better option If you want something more rule has more space and spread out with not as many people Sioux falls is a great option as well
You should have a video showing some of the fun smaller places around town too: Spielbound, Beercade, live music venues... Also, the restaurants are becoming an attraction.
I have lived in Omaha 62 years. 1 Zoo. (The best) 2 College World Series 3 Old Market 4 cost of living 5 KC 2.5 hours not far, Chicago 6 hours, Denver 9 hours. 6 Bars everywhere 7 Casinos soon but Iowa 15 min away 8 Horse 🐎 racing 9 generally people are nice 10. 4 seasons

hi tyler, great videos and information, grew up in omaha, had 2 sons there. omaha has many interesting aspects and one could be there for a while. moved away twice and probably won't return even though housing is more affordable than california where i reside. politics and racism are my two strong deterrents. as a black woman, don't feel safe there and couldn't enjoy life there knowing how all areas of the city aren't supported. of course, no progress unless everyone participates but is heart breaking to see the state some areas are in. thanks for your videos. they help me make decisions for my first home purchase. be well
Several years ago I tried to move to two different cities, and I didn't like it, I have always returned to Omaha Nebraska, Omaha is the best place to live, its streets are very well planned and everything that has been literally offered me work in other states, but I prefer stay in Omaha
I didn't here anything about the high property taxes and that Nebraska is only one of a handful of states that taxes your social security. I know this is an advertisement for your business so I shouldn't expect any cons with the pros but like any city, its not all sunshine and lollipops.
I live in Omaha, but before this I lived in Elkhorn 34 years. I loved that it was a small town, before it was annexed by Omaha. If I could, I would move a little farther out. Omaha is too big for me.
Well I do live in Denver and our traffic is horrific !our average price for a house in Denver is $750,000,- no it's just a regular small home, that's right!! WOW. ,I should say if you could find a house for sale at that ($750,000 price. So you may want to hit the Denver market for buyers
Is it possible you could do a video, not on the "city life". My wife and I have placed Nebraska on the Top 5 states we are considering for our new Home. We are rural folks who work in the City, we appreciate the money we earn, we do not want to live there. So is it possible you could provide a little insight on "Rural Life" ? Our current drive distance we both take (one way) is 60+ miles with 1.5hr-3hr drives (traffic). I myself spend 5 hours a days just sitting in traffic...no we don't live in L. A. , try Atlanta; yeap thats what it's like working in Atlanta. No matter the time of the day, you are going to "crawl" every where you go.
I grew up in small towns... I think it would be more helpful for me to answer your questions about them and would be able to be more specific then I could in creating a video... Plus, i could do that today while making a video like this well would take me several weeks... Feel free to email me so we can connect.
There are many small towns surrounding Omaha,, :Blair,Valley, Elkhorn,Yutan,Wahoo, Memphis, Ashland, Gretna, Louisville & Springfield..There are hundreds of Lakeside communities located along the Platte river in Eastern Nebraska..Gonna be colder than Atlanta is ..
Hey guys, James here just wondering what life would be like there comparing to Portland Oregon, where I used to be and now in Poplar Bluff Missouri? What can you're town offer a poor guy? Thanks
The thing that bugs me about videos on why Omaha is such a bright place is it always ignores the fact that it’s a Twin City I see videos that feature the surrounding cities in Nebraska such as Bellevue Papillion, Ralston, Gretna, and how they are growing, but it never mentions Council Bluffs , Iowa, which is the twin city to Omaha. It is true that low unemployment rate that draws businesses to Omaha also draws on the population of Council Bluffs as a part of that workforce. enhancement Council Bluffs although it is an older poorer community than Omaha it is also compared to Omaha a less expensive community a population of about 62,000 has a median income of little bit less than Omaha at 57,000 but it does have a much lower average housing price at 190,000 versus Omaha 252,000 it is a higher unemployment rate but it is only marginally higher about 1.2% as of the last census much lower than the rest of the United States and the average commute time for somebody from Council Bluffs is equivalent to Omaha a little bit less averaging 18.6 as opposed to Omaha is 18.74. The good news is in Omaha. The traffic comes from West O east into the downtown business area, causing traffic jams and, headache of a commute heading to the rising Sun in the morning and the setting sun in the evening, where coming from Council Bluffs , you are going from east to west and the sun isn’t in your eyes both directions and there is a lot less traffic. it is true that Council Bluffs but the property taxes are lower and housing costs are 24.5 less expensive than Omaha, due to housing costs, and the lower taxes. It is true that Council bus has had issues with crime being a little higher than an average and poverty rates are a little bit higher, but if you’re not into a very conservative rural lifestyle, and you prefer something a little more progressive you have all the benefits of a city with lower costs across the river from all the amenities offered by Omaha, Nebraska. IlIn fact CB is actually closer to the zoo, the stadium for the college World Series and the downtown old market areas that draw tourists to Omaha than west Omaha. Especially for blue-collar workers and clerical employees that derive a lot of employment opportunities in Omaha from the tech businesses that have relocated their it is not a bad option overall but nobody ever mentions it as being part of what makes the Omaha metropolitan area bloom. It can be a better location for retirees since they don’t tax social security. 5:3
There a few home schooling communities around... if it was me I would get plugged into a church and connect with other home school families there... if you have questions about churches let me know. The church I attend is GOOD NEWS CHURCH
For military, after helping many, I personally think that owning with the potential of renting the property after you get new orders... locations would be anywhere in papillion or Bellevue
Hi . I moved out of NYC and comes to Denver got brother here. Is expensive in colorado. I do plumbing work. Will I find job easy in Nebraska and what is the cost of one bedroom. If someone can give some hints thank you
Great video, though I don't think it is a good place to raise a family (I lived there for about a year and a half) and also don't think a $240K + house is cheap (maybe cheap compared to other unaffordable houses).
@Jim Eagle why would that be. Noticed that the black population is large in these places. Are you implying something? The islanders of Hawaii has welcomed me, Nashville has welcomed me, and Huntsville a place with a lot of engineers and BLM supporters are okay with me as well. So do tell are you saying my kind is not welcome. Are you born and raised in omaha if not you don't have a thing to say to me. I'm not that stupid and I can pick up on implications. By all means visit north Omaha we will welcome you.
No you can’t see but a handful in Omaha and they aren’t even stars, it’s the planets. I live 45 minutes east of Omaha and at night looking west I can see the light pollution from Omaha lighting up the entire west side of the sky 😠 so annoying.
Omaha’s gotten so much more expensive in the last ten years is crazy especially with how many LA and Denver people have moved here. Also we’re on the cusp of legal weed.
Nice video, no I'm not moving here - I'm from Denver, and still live here, but there is something to be said about your small city compared to the front range-- costs ,and traffic here are.getting insanely high ( due to seems like everyone moving here 5.5 million on front range, I know of a few raised here that have moved to Lincoln- Omaha for easier life, the Californians moving here call Denver " LA EAST" )
Being a long time resident I can say Omaha is broken into sectors per your race north east west south I don't believe it's fair , roads ,schools safety all suffer not millard for some reason
Extremely incorrect. Being a long time resident who _actually does research_ , there's no segregation. There's deliberate filtration though. Lower income housing ( of *ALL* family colors) are placed into 'nicer' neighborhoods with higher property tax bracket$.
For the rather plain plains geography, there is some distinct beauty to the area. Awesome wildlife, emerald green flora, rolling hills. I've seen countless bald eagles and other birds of prey, a badger, otter, deer, antelope, racoons, etc. all in the wild. Then there's the safari park and world-class zoo. Some other places throughout the country have a sampling of the same. It's the whole picture with the only real drawback being the tax burden which is very significant. However, at least you can see where most of that money goes as compared to other places where the tax burden is heavy but services are horrible.
What are some things your looking for in the city you living in?

How does Omaha's summer humidity compare to Houston TX summer humidity?
Not much different. I'd say a little different because we have more variation of weather which offers less humidity
Omaha is not as warm as Houston. 100F in Houston is very sweaty.

I grew up in small towns... I think it would be more helpful for me to answer your questions about them and would be able to be more specific then I could in creating a video... Plus, i could do that today while making a video like this well would take me several weeks... Feel free to email me so we can connect.
Jeezus, 5 hours/day sitting in traffic I would go insane.
We don't sit in traffic for 5 ours each day... did you mean something different
Thanks
MAY GOD BLESSS YOU
Love this video! Very informed :)
So glad!
It can be a better location for retirees since they
don’t tax social security. 5:3
You are very nice. You seem like a kind person. nYC people are loud and wild. Time to move. Lol
Thank you! If you ever make your way to the Midwest let me know!! Blessings!!!
We’re a conservative, Christian homeschooling family. Where would be the best place for us to live in or around Omaha to be with like-minded people?
There a few home schooling communities around... if it was me I would get plugged into a church and connect with other home school families there... if you have questions about churches let me know. The church I attend is GOOD NEWS CHURCH
@@Tyler_Bundy didn't that church used to be called Glad Tidings?
@@TopSecretInformations yes it was
What areas would you recommend near Offutt AFB? Also, any insight on renting vs buying for a family of 5?
For military, after helping many, I personally think that owning with the potential of renting the property after you get new orders... locations would be anywhere in papillion or Bellevue
@@Tyler_Bundy thanks for reply! If we head that way, we'll definitely reach out.
@@ninaj8434 There is a hilly part of Bellevue that backs up to a forest. Very nice.
If you're into wrestling at the waiting room in benson there's a wrestling event every month
Once you live in Omaha for a while then leave there is a good chance you will return. I say it's hard to reach escape velocity
Hi . I moved out of NYC and comes to Denver got brother here. Is expensive in colorado. I do plumbing work. Will I find job easy in Nebraska and what is the cost of one bedroom. If someone can give some hints thank you
Lots of work in omaha
@@Tyler_Bundy thanks
What about radon gas ???
GO OMAHA I LOVE IT HERE!!!!
Large cities completely SUCK. I live in LA, and it's filthy, and crowded. What I like about Omaha, is that it's clean and the not crowded.
Plenty of land to spread., spread. No center.
hi tyler i am foreigner but my wife is american it is the good place for me and my family to live in omaha and working there ?
I just met with a family from Argentina and they love it here!!!
@@Tyler_Bundy wow thank you its amazing
No volume why??
Agreed.
I visited Omaha and was very surprised that it was such a decent place.
_See why ASSumptions are no good?_
I live in Omaha.
Isn’t there a “rough” side of Omaha?
Yes there is as all cities have a lower income area or areas
north side
Great video, though I don't think it is a good place to raise a family (I lived there for about a year and a half) and also don't think a $240K + house is cheap (maybe cheap compared to other unaffordable houses).
22 years in omaha.
I like to describe Omaha as a "little big city." GBR!
Lived in Los Angeles California and Las Vegas Nevada don’t like the people’s entitled, narcissistic , rude attitude 😲😉
How is the Politics there?
I'd say conservative. We have 5 electoral votes and it has been split between both parties the last 2 elections
Same as most places: blue in the city, Red in the rural & smaller towns.
I a m really loving Nebraska, but am in Kenya, how can I get a green card or job to move to Nebraska
You will have to do what many of my friends have done. Find a way to get a green card, then move here then find a job
It was so much better when Penny park was there
It was so much better when there was a real Downtown.
How about stars, can you see the stars at night? Living in a huge city right now with a ton of light pollution! Oh and go hawks!
Love that one!
No you can’t see but a handful in Omaha and they aren’t even stars, it’s the planets. I live 45 minutes east of Omaha and at night looking west I can see the light pollution from Omaha lighting up the entire west side of the sky 😠 so annoying.
Not really. It’s often overcast and the light pollution is bad.
❤
Only thing I hate about Omaha is the weed laws 😒👎🏼
Omaha’s gotten so much more expensive in the last ten years is crazy especially with how many LA and Denver people have moved here. Also we’re on the cusp of legal weed.
402 STAND UP!!!
They haven't even said anything about the Northside of town or south where the Mexican are at especially since they moving all the black & Latinos out
How are they moving blacks and Latinos out?
Nice video, no I'm not moving here - I'm from Denver, and still live here, but there is something to be said about your small city compared to the front range-- costs ,and traffic here are.getting insanely high ( due to seems like everyone moving here 5.5 million on front range, I know of a few raised here that have moved to Lincoln- Omaha for easier life, the Californians moving here call Denver " LA EAST" )
And the bed bugs
Hopefully people coming to Omaha are of European stock
All types and kinds of people are welcomed here!!!
Being a long time resident I can say Omaha is broken into sectors per your race north east west south I don't believe it's fair , roads ,schools safety all suffer not millard for some reason
I agree. Segregation still exists in Omaha. Pretty sad.
It's segregated. Growth plans it that way.
Extremely incorrect. Being a long time resident who _actually does research_ , there's no segregation. There's deliberate filtration though. Lower income housing ( of *ALL* family colors) are placed into 'nicer' neighborhoods with higher property tax bracket$.
Because of Warrent Buffet and Charlie Munger!
