35m stopping distance for something this big and heavy is astonishing!
Yeah the brakes were insane. I did a few runs to make sure, and all pretty similar results - best result shown. Superb effort for a 2.2 tonne beast!
i'm not a fan of massive SUVs but this is a great way of keeping the Europeans honest and giving buyers more value for money. Say goodbye to a $5k optional extra package just to get one feature you might actually want. Great tip with the hammer and chisel, too!
(The most powerful) Genesis GV80 model could also have a 3.5T 48V E-supercharger engine (available for the Genesis G90 model) as an option!.
Great review. Completely agree about your statement that if you want a sporty ride get a sports car.
The equivalent of Ute drivers in Romania are those who own an old BMW, E60 usually, but the behaviour is similar. They push you, overtake you on continous line and after 1 km or less they park.
Yep, exactly the same 😤
Its a shame the new V6 isnt available in RHD 😢
Yeah, they said the e-supercharger doesn't fit properly in the engine bay of RHD models. Something to do with the steering column being in the way.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia Makes sense. Its also why the RHD naturally aspirated V6 in Aussie Kias and Hyundais is FWD only - the steering column gets in the way of the transfer case on the AWD models
Hold on, this isn’t the GV80 Coupe Brett. 🤔 This is the regular wagon. All good, it must be a typo. But I still love the review.
Thanks. Performance test was with the coupe 😀
Its just a shame that it doesn't sell well in Australia, there is nothing wrong with the product. My exact thinking regarding the Mitsubishi 380.😅.
This is not the GV80 Coupe. It's the GV80 SUV. GV80 coupe doesn't have rear wiper.
GV80 Coupe is the second half of the video. First half walks around the updated GV80, which features much the same equipment and layout etc.
Those centre consoles just keep getting wider and wider.
So like most new cars it gives you a huge screen to play with, then attention monitor tells you off for doing it 🤪. Ferking nice tho…only a badge snob would take an Audi or something over this at the price
Exactly lol. Start playing around with the screen and it doesn't take long for the driver monitoring camera to go off with warnings.
I would use that hammer and chisel as a double up for the tailgating ute !! ;)
😅
Mate ute drivers absolutely piss me off, they speed and tailgate you as if they own the road, you could be driving a million dollar hypercar and they’ll still try to tailgate you and zigzag around you in traffic.
@@russell3436 Yep. It doesn't even matter how fast you're going, they want to go even faster. I had a guy tailgating me on a single-lane road the other day, and I was pushing past 125km/h and he was still on my tail. So I just pulled over to let him past and then jumped back on the road. He ended up sticking to about 110km/h. Yet he was pushing me at 125km/h? There's some strange psychology here I think. Utes seem to give drivers a false sense of confidence and importance or something.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia I think the ride height and the large body of a ute gives them a sense of “I’m bigger than you”, kind of like a false sense of masculinity.
Sometimes I speed up just to cut infront of them if they act like a flog around me, for some reason ute drivers believe they’re driving a hyper powered supercar.
The dash and instrument cluster look far more premium in the 2023 GV70. The continuous curve screen in this looks cheap.
Only dunce people get the knobs mixed up. After the first time you should get used to it!
There are lots of dunce people in the world mate (including me).
I don't think it's a good idea to have two very similar-looking controls for the multimedia and gear selector, and it seems no other carmaker thinks it's a good idea either otherwise we'd see more of it.
Hands down best interior 6+ seat SUV on the market, that alone the euro cannot compete. If only Hyundai slapped a hybrid on that v6 turbo like the cayenne and sharper design like a Lexus.
Your video's tittle says GV80 coupe! So you misleading peoples for views? Smh
Thanks for your comment.
Did you watch the full video? About half of it is the coupe, including for the performance test. This was filmed during the official Genesis media launch event, where they had both the new wagon and coupe for media to test.
Everything inside is pretty much identical in the coupe and wagon, except slightly less boot space and some trim colours (which I highlight and show in the video, such as at 5:56).
Edit: I've changed the title just for you.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia thanks for replying. As I was specifically looking to know about the coupé, I didn't watch the full video. Time was of the essence as I'm trying lock in an order if satisfy with it. I wanted to know about the back seats and blind spot monitors Bref the technology. But thank you for changing the title 🙏🏽. I'm subbing.
Lol, "It's not that expensive when you compare it to the German rivals".
#1. Under $10,000 cheaper compared to the Audi/BMW models quoted.
$2. $130, 000. That's expensive in its own right regardless of the marque.
Yep, agree. It is expensive. Like everything these days it seems. But I can only refer to how it fits in its segment. It’s a sneaky way car brands keep pushing up prices in my opinion, and all end up with more and more; last year a number of carmarkers reported record profits.
Had to look that one up. Hyundai's version of a Lexus. When you want to release an upmarket range. Change the name. Even use an emblem like a Bentley or Aston. Long way from the cheap crappy little cars Korea started with. It seems to be the way now. $130 000 vehicle. Packed with gadgets I don't want. And at a price I could never afford. I'm old. So all I want is 4 wheels and an engine. But do today's youngsters really want half this crap. Certainly not the safety annoyance functions. Or are they that brain dead. It is a fact now, that as we become more dependent on technology IQ levels are dropping. And with more technology in the cars. Road crash figures are rising. Look forward to a world where we have regressed to incoherent slobs. And our replacement AI counterparts carry out our previous functions.
Agree, I'm happy with my older car, new isn't always better.😅
Well said. I agree, these safety systems are dumbing down our driving skills. Until the car is fully autonomous (probably not in our lifetime), most of this stuff needs to stay away.
"$130 000 vehicle. Packed with gadgets I don't want"
You know you can still buy a small car for $25k, right? If you can't afford a car of this price, why are you whinging about it?
@@user-vk4vd7vr5tCan't afford $25 000. Just pointing out the useless distracting crap on all modern cars. And emissions/ safety items that add drastically to all car costs and do little. @user-vk4vd7vr5t
Worse review I’ve ever seen
Thanks for your feedback. Is there anything specific you didn't like about it that I can work on?
