There's One Big Problem With This SUV (Genesis GV80 Coupe 2024 Review)

- Detailed review and test of the 2024 Genesis GV80 including the new coupe model, pricing, interior, driving and more.
The Genesis GV80 is currently the brand's largest SUV. It is available as a three-row traditional body or a new coupe variant added for 2024. Overseas, an electric supercharger is available but it doesn't work for right-hand drive so Australia soldiers on with a twin-turbo 3.5-litre petrol V6.
The GV80 is a rival to the Audi Q7 and Q8, Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and X6 and more.

Chasing Cars makes Australia's most independent new car reviews. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
While I appreciate the driver attention warning sound is annoying, I’m very surprised you didn’t once mention to buyers that it can be turned off permanently.
You not mentioning that implies to potential buyers they’re stuck with it and that’s not the case at all.
You can also opt to make the warnings haptic as well.
@@nawafa4307 Exactly that. I have it turned off in my electric GV70 though.
There’s a Volvo in the pipeline with a mechanical hand that comes out of the sun visor and b&$ch slaps out if you transgress…😂
I’m starting to like Curt’s reviews. To me, the “Chasing Cars” brand (as pioneered by Tom) means reviews that pack in a lot of tangible information but still give that intangible sense of living with/owning the car. Curt nailed this one.
Is that the Matte Green Color?
How hard can it be to give a buyer an option to have a full size spare if you want. A useful pov would be to put a full size in the boot and show how much space it takes up. Unless a full family trip a boot taking 2 medium suitcases does it.
Look at the profile of the tires, you’re going to get a puncture and a bent rim if you run over a cigarette butt!
I got an audi q7, I'm definitely trading it for a gv 80
Without a dedicated Genesis dealer network this is a non-starter
seen a few on the road and i think they look really sharp also good to see emission standards taking out more diesels if you can afford a $130k+ car you can afford fuel no matter what grade it takes or how much it uses my 2022 petrol triton AVGs 13.5L 100kms i couldn't care less drive the car fill it up swipe the card
Why can’t you turn the attention thing off, my CX5 has that but I have it turned off. Also have lane keeping turned off. If you need that stuff then you need to catch a bus instead.
😂 you made me laugh thanks
My mate just bought a fully optioned 2024 X5 30D for 134k. Think I’d go with the X5/X6
I have a 2021 GV80 and so far pleased with it. This newest one looks like a beast and not a lot of changes. Just a few. Thx for the video
Seems to be a common trend with those annoying driver monitoring systems as the newTriton is copping flack for the same thing someone suggested putting tape over it to shut it up maybe do the same thing with this or maybe pay someone to rip the bloody thing out.
Great review from you as usaul.
I see this car as 'faux luxury'. It looks good on the surface but misses the mark on what true luxury car shoppers want.
When I sit in the RX I feel that Lexus is offering a fresh, lighter, more modern/younger, less is more luxury. Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Cadillac..they all bring something tangible to the table. With all its newness I get a flashback to old Buick, old Mercedes luxury, here.
Hyundai/Genesis/Kia, instead of spending time perfecting their mediocre vehicles, think that they can just jump into the luxury space by impressing with bling.
Unfortunately, folks who are truly used to luxury are not biting. I mean, who wants to take their expensive luxury car to a low-budget Hyundai dealership for service? They're gonna have to do much better than this to improve their credibility in this space.
Not bad but for that money, German makes more sense…
Brand name or not, this beats the Germans; period!
It is on the expensive side. Not competitive enough.
Hard Sell 😂 Unreasonable Unrealistic Pricing 👎
You can get a X6 at that drive away price.
What sane person is going to buy an X6??😂… it’s BMW reliability, servicing, parts and insurance is expensive, it’s hideous and the form factor is the worst of both worlds.
Yeah nah. Maybe for $100k.
For that price I rather go for the SUVs that has the same technologies in a BMW that has almost twice or more horsepower like in the BMW X5 M or X6 M. This coupe only produces 300-375 horses. This a rip off in the $130,000.
BMW X5M and X6M Competition- 617 hp with 553 lb-ft of torque twin turbo. $128,195 - $146,345
2025 GV80 Coupe - 375 horsepower with 391 lb-ft torque - $149,330.
Wait until the new 2025 X5 and X6 come sout and still blows this out the water. If this Suv coupe was like $70,000-$80,000 then yes. This would be a great deal. Cause the wide screens and technologies already existed in the 2023 models of the BMWs for $90,000.
That is not the price in the US is it… ? If so, I can get a Porsche that’s faster the same price
Seems like all those Germans in the comment sections are really angry about this vehicle lol.
When i squint my eyes the back looks super mercedes GLE coupe like
They priced it in line with the Europeans, its a very hard sell now.
Yup. Big mistake. They will lose the “nearly as nice as the Germans and you save yourself 10-15 grand”
I love it how the presenter focuses on the active safety annoyance as the defining decision making factor, but seems to gloss over the almost $150k drive away price for a Hyundai
Well you could say the same about a Lamborghini Urus being a VW… but you are completely right. The ONLY reason premium brands like Genesis, Lexus, Acura, Infinity, etc exist is because they’re way more profitable.
How much are the VW Q7s these days? Same or more driveway... and VWs are notorious for reliability.
The GV80 is a beautiful vehicle. But every time I see it on the road, somehow it looks old; it looks like a vehicle that’s been in an accident and wasn’t repaired well. It’s the strangest thing!
분명히 말씀드립니다. 쿠페 디자인 이나 소재 는 분명 동급차량중 가장 좋습니다 하지만 여기까지 그이외 파워 또는 주행성능에 있어서 가격은 80000달러가 적당합니다.
Better than Rexus ah ha
$148k for a re-badge Hyundai with Titanic depreciation? Ah no.
Why do you think people buy Lexus (rebadged Toyota), Audi (rebadged VW)?
Thats why i always wait at least 2-3 years for most of the depreciation to have left the car
Which Hyundai has a twin turbo v6 and this much quality and tech?
@@HaruHaruman European heritage, Japanese build quality, dedicated dealer network, strong resales, hybrid and straight 6 diesel option, styling that doesn’t give you a cataract
@@RayanMADAOthe one you are watching that also comes with catastrophic depreciation
