Hi bro. I would like to know why you put in 7 qts of oil and then removed oil after half hour? How much did you remove? What has the temperature go to do with the gearbox function. I will be doing a converter seal replacement next week. Thanks.
Transmission fluid expands with heat, and is checked at operating temperature. This thing has a check plug, and no dipstick. You overfill it, get it hot, pull the plug, and let it pour out. When the fluid goes from a pour to a dribble, you put the plug in. I though I explained that pretty well.

Will I have to do the same for an 07 Camry ? I have a punctured rear main seal, just throwing all my transmission fluid up soon as I pour it in and crank him up. I’ve been looking at videos of doing the seal without dropping the transmission. Is it possible, because I can never find one with my year. Either an 95-06 or 2008-2017. I don’t really want to remove my transmission, being that it will be my first time. However I’m very willing to remove it to do what I have to do. Because I’ve been looking online also videos and yours is the best one by far.
Yours is a little different. I have done engines on those too. It comes out the top, and you pull the wiring harness through the firewall, and leavin it all on the engine. You choose.
I got this 2010 camry , 2.5 engine i got this harness plug in I don’t know where it goes . It plugs to the intake from harness then it has a bracket that bolts to engine just above transmission bolts right beside the intake then comes around and has a 2 blade plug .
My 2010 camry makes a grinding (some sort knocking sound) and jerks forward by force when up shifting. Sometimes the tyres screech from the force. I'm yet to change the fluid or top it up. Will a fluid change or replacement stop this sound.
Hi, great video. I am considering buying a 2010 with a bad 6 speed manual transmission. Do you know if it's possible to drop it in from above or does it have to come from below? It almost looks worthwhile to lift the engine out.
You can do it in your driveway if you aren’t intimidated by it you just support the bottom of the engine with a jack stand and drop the trans out the bottom with a regular jack
Yes, there is still a way to check your fluid level even in a 'sealed' transmission with no dipstick. There is always going to be a 'fill' and a 'drain' plug. Also, you have to know when and how to check the fluid level.
My 2012 Camry is one of those unlucky ones with the shuttering in the transmission and faulty torque convertors. Toyota replaced it about 2 years ago (for free) but it still has some issues starting up again. At 136k miles I feel my Camry may need a new transmission before 150k. Very disappointed. I bought the Camry because of perceived reliability that Toyota is known for. There is no way I would attempt this job myself. Thanks for showing us.
same here.. mine is @ 250k its beet shuddering the last 100k,, but when im acceleration from a stop i leave it in 3rd gear till 35mpg.. i never get shuddering that way
Whenever you feel shudder. If you intended to keep up speed and not slow down, rev up to over 3,500 rpm to stop shudder then rev back down to normal so you won't feel shudder temporary. If you are about to stop or slow down to traffic, lay off gas and shudder will immediately stopped so you can push gas pedal without shudder. Drove like that since 3 years because Toyota refused replace mine cuz high mileage.
I own a 2013 Camry that has the TC shudder. I never knew about the recall they had till mine was passed 150,000. I mostly used sport mode to shift it manually whenever I’m in slower traffic/stoplights or up and down hills and it’s till going. Bought the car with under 30,000 miles and it now has 268,000.

Hi Admin and Guest! I have the same Toyota Camry 2009 and has transmission issue. What do you suggest gear repair or replacement. These are the problems I have 1. Problem started with bang sound while shifting P to R 2. 2nd and 3rd gear shifting was very hesitant. 3. Now, only R is working D is working only short distance with low gear and stop in the middle of the road. 4. Transmission oil has burnt smell. Please suggest guys
Yes it replaced transmission because it was a leak and damaged the transmission. That why I order the transmission and fix it. Not flush it with fluid transmission
Inside the transmission, and driven by the rotation of the torque converter. Converters also consist of a turbin, stator, and pump, but that is different.
Yes I did I bought a 11 model LE last week and I asked friend for advice what will be an issue for the car. his car a Camry 09 se his only big issue is the transmission closed for fluid change. Just wondering if the car manufacturer changed the transmission fluid more user friendly
@@alaskanzombie9075 Me too. Technically, it doesn't require service, If it was my vehicle, I would drain the fluid, measure how much came out, and add the same amount about every 60k miles. That's what they do on Honda's. Checking the level would be ideal.
Enjoyed the surgery here... Just a quick question... my camry has some atf oil sticking out at the bottom of bell housing. Do you think that I need to check the torque converter seals etc? Thank you.
My opinion is sometimes best not to have one. Cars don't last a real lifetime. I think a lifetime to a manufacturer is 10 years, and they do not extrapolate how many miles a life is. It's just a made up word. They are in the business of selling you new stuff.
There's no real easy answer to this question. A lot of manufacturers have designed fluids that's suppose to last say 120 -180k miles. The reason being that a lot of owners tend to upgrade to newer cars say after 3-5 or maybe 8 years, and either sell or trade in their old vehicles. With this trend owner's don't really have to spend too much money on servicing their vehicle a lot. There are certain items that are meant to last as long as they can. There's no definite/fixed schedule to replace/flush out the transmission fluid, sometimes this includes engine coolant too. It all depends on manufacturers maintenance plan. My personal opinion is that as long as the transmission is shifting fine and working fine, then leave it alone. Unless, there's an issue with it then diagnose it first, determine what's the issue, and then follow the recommended repair procedures to repair it. This could be anything from just a simple drain and fill, maybe reprogramming the ECU/TCU, to replacing a component or two of the transmission, or replacing the entire thing. Hope this makes sense.
Toyota's Aisin 6 speed transmission is bullet proof. The is easily the best transmission on the market. This is literally the only video I could find on youtube that does a replacement of this transmission. This transmission went bad after the owner did a transmission flush. I personally wont ever flush mine. I think when it comes to engine and transmission, Toyota is top and Kia is not even top 5
@@oneundecided i own a 2016 camry which i bought used when it was 3 years old. I personally will never change the transmission oil bcuz the previous owner didnt and so im afraid doing it now might cause problems like transmission slipping. I have heard too many horror stories of people having problems after changing their transmissiom oil. Many peo0le drive their Toyotas more than 250k miles without ever changing transmission fluid. Just make sure you change the engine oil every 5k miles, NO EXCEPTIONS

Swap to manual is possible because itself manual transmission are 100% mechanism other than sensors. Original ecu can run without transmission(ecu thinking it on parked or neutral gear) but would limit up to 4,000 rpm. Get custom 2.7 ECU from Frankenstein Motor website. That custom 2.7 ecu will work with 2.4 and 2.5. 2.7 ecu will raise rpm limiter and governor removed. ;)

Doubt it. A parts look up on car-part.com might give you a good idea.
@@RustBeltAutois that a legit website?
@@prostopper1752 it's a nation wide junk yard parts locating website. Everybody uses it.
I got this 2010 camry , 2.5 engine i got this harness plug in I don’t know where it goes . It plugs to the intake from harness then it has a bracket that bolts to engine just above transmission bolts right beside the intake then comes around and has a 2 blade plug .
Keep looking. Sometimes cars have blind plugs that are not used. If it is, it should be dirty.
My 2010 camry makes a grinding (some sort knocking sound) and jerks forward by force when up shifting. Sometimes the tyres screech from the force. I'm yet to change the fluid or top it up. Will a fluid change or replacement stop this sound.
Probably not.
How much do you charge for a transmission job on a 3010 camry?
I don't know

great job. enjoyed it
Hi, great video. I am considering buying a 2010 with a bad 6 speed manual transmission. Do you know if it's possible to drop it in from above or does it have to come from below? It almost looks worthwhile to lift the engine out.
I take a them out the bottom. Someone else might do it differently.
You can do it in your driveway if you aren’t intimidated by it you just support the bottom of the engine with a jack stand and drop the trans out the bottom with a regular jack
I agree a sealed transmission is stupid no matter what it is if it needs fluid or oil to operate you need to be able to check it with a chopstick
J have toyota camry1992 2.2 automatic transmitions but ride only in reverse. J want to change automatic transmition with manual .How much cost complet manual transmition ?Also it possible to put manual transmission from corolla, celica, carina because in Europe camry is very rare morel of toyota. J will be grateful if somebody give me some information
Hi Admin and Guest! I have the same Toyota Camry 2009 and has transmission issue. What do you suggest gear repair or replacement.
These are the problems I have
1. Problem started with bang sound while shifting P to R
2. 2nd and 3rd gear shifting was very hesitant.
3. Now, only R is working D is working only short distance with low gear and stop in the middle of the road.
4. Transmission oil has burnt smell.
Please suggest guys
Probably time to replace the thing. No way to know for sure without looking at it.
7:07 what if you soaked it for a while with anti seize
You cannot soak anything with antisieze. You slather it on, and stick it in the hole. That is all it is good for.
maybe penetrating oil / wd40
@@gojjjddoooj Yah, I meant penetrating oil
hi. Question?? Can i put 2016 toyota camry se transmission on 2013 camry se?
My sources say yes. You can look it up on car-part.com to make sure.
How many hours would you say this was?
@@nickshattuck568 I don't know. Doing video takes a long time.
Work a lot. Like 8hr! Wow but thank for tip ! I ll fix my car 2018 Camry for transmission replacement
you already need a tranny replacement wtf??
Yeah 2018 car needed a transmission change?
Yes it replaced transmission because it was a leak and damaged the transmission. That why I order the transmission and fix it. Not flush it with fluid transmission
exelent mechanic
Where is the transmission pump located
Inside the transmission, and driven by the rotation of the torque converter. Converters also consist of a turbin, stator, and pump, but that is different.
is the transmission a closed one just like the 09 or did they made it more friendly access
Did you watch the video?
Yes I did
I bought a 11 model LE last week and I asked friend for advice what will be an issue for the car.
his car a Camry 09 se his only big issue is the transmission closed for fluid change. Just wondering if the car manufacturer changed the transmission fluid more user friendly
@@alaskanzombie9075 do you mean closed as in no dipstick, or drain plug?
Yea I was wondering bc I don't have any knowledge about cars.
Grew up around 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, and boats
@@alaskanzombie9075 Me too. Technically, it doesn't require service, If it was my vehicle, I would drain the fluid, measure how much came out, and add the same amount about every 60k miles. That's what they do on Honda's. Checking the level would be ideal.
How many miles are on that Camry when you had to replace a transmission?
I can't remember.

Enjoyed the surgery here... Just a quick question... my camry has some atf oil sticking out at the bottom of bell housing. Do you think that I need to check the torque converter seals etc? Thank you.
If it is up into the housing, I would guess so. Hope it's a small leak.
That transmission is the same 2013 camry?
My sources say yes. I used car-part.com to find the right one. You need to check your 5th vin#.
Would this transmission removal be similar to a 2013 RAV4?
it depends
You didn't have to reprogram the tcm?
I did not. It's still working.
@@RustBeltAuto Thanks for the reply. I may be swapping the trans on a 2016 Camry soon.
Sub'd
You are good my friend
whats funny is ive had people tell me its lifetime fluid for a trans on these things which i know is bs. whats your opinion.
Thank you for this video. I just purchased my 2017 Toyota Camry. I am just wondering how long my 6-speed automatic transmission may last?
everyone's guess is as good as a psychics.
@@RustBeltAuto Thank you for your prompt reply, I guess I wanted to ask - how reliable is this transmission vs KIA six speed transmission for example?
Toyota's Aisin 6 speed transmission is bullet proof. The is easily the best transmission on the market. This is literally the only video I could find on youtube that does a replacement of this transmission. This transmission went bad after the owner did a transmission flush. I personally wont ever flush mine. I think when it comes to engine and transmission, Toyota is top and Kia is not even top 5
@@chris2kgreat Thank you for your reply. How frequently would you recommend Aisin 6 speed transmission oil changes?
@@oneundecided i own a 2016 camry which i bought used when it was 3 years old. I personally will never change the transmission oil bcuz the previous owner didnt and so im afraid doing it now might cause problems like transmission slipping. I have heard too many horror stories of people having problems after changing their transmissiom oil. Many peo0le drive their Toyotas more than 250k miles without ever changing transmission fluid. Just make sure you change the engine oil every 5k miles, NO EXCEPTIONS

when Rust hits a car it's a whole new ball game. If welding ain't your thing

take the cv axel out with the mount collar. Lay it on the ground step on the axel and mini sledge hammer even around....

You're Welcome...
Can a 4-speed transmission be easily replaced with a newer 6-speed transmission?
My sources say no.
2.7 ecu will raise rpm limiter and governor removed. ;)
Can you do this for my Camry please
How long does this job typically take.
It depends.
Is it similar to a 2014 Toyota Corolla 1.8?
No.
