    Upper body dominant conditioning equipment! I bought the skierg based on this video, and it is a dream. If you are someone that has chronic overuse issues with knee or hips, the standard suggestion of cross training.will have you on an elliptical, treadmill, bike, rinse and repeat. Problem is, all that equipment relies heavily on knee bend! Enter: the skierg. This is the perfect piece of equipment to mix up your cardio routine and to allow for cross training or rehab days if you have touch and go knees.

      until or unless you have or have developed bad knees and or hips from years of kickboxing and jump rope. this machine is BETTER than the rope if you are injured or arthritic. It is a beast. Do 100 reps hard and compare to rope and get back to me. Trust me. I did a video using my first Schwinn Evolution Comp airdyne bike almost a decade ago and that bike is STILL a beast. IN fact, I purchased a new Schwinn AD2 airdyne bike and it is EASIER than my Evolution Comp. Know why? Because the older bike is all METAL and the newer one is plastic. Metal weighs more than plastic. Get it? That old metal bike is a BEAST.

  • @alexanderc988

    Jump roping is probably the best, you can do it outside, inside. You can go hard or long and combine it with other workouts and you don't need that much space for it. You can also bring it on trips. It is also good for foot work for sports.

    I freaking love the ski erg. I have a knee mobility issue so I can't bike except with just my arms. I can't run long distances. I can row, but because of my knee my max wattage is about 120. The ski erg is the only piece of conditioning equipment that puts me on a level playing field even with a disability. Happy face emoji with heart eyes.

      Seriously? That's nuts. We have the rower (now converted to a paddling erg) and the bikerg. Hard to do a quick HIT warm up now, so thinking about the convenience of the skierg... I should add that I can't imagine it being more challenging than the rower, where 20 min is about all I can suffer at a reasonable pace.

  • @Discipline_equals_freedom
    @Discipline_equals_freedom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have a skierg, rower and echo bike. The echo is by far the beast for cardio. While I love my skierg, it fries my lats and the low back pump gets intense often. That bike is the devil but works so damn well. The skierg is a great core workout though. I’m adding a bikeerg soon! For longer steady state cardio pieces. I think the king of cardio is a Jacob’s ladder. If they were more reliable it would be in my garage. They’re to prone to break.

    Well the human beings with the highest VO2Max recorded are skiers. Of course the high altitude component plays a huge role, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there is something about the biomechanics of skying that puts just the right demand on our bioneregetic systems to bring about such high VO2 adaptions.

    Approachability argument is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. If a few seconds of putting your foot in a loop, or hopping on is “too much” odds are your cardio session isn’t beneficial. To walk up and instantly do a few second of cardio, you’re not really doing any cardio.

    • @BrandonSchwartz1
      @BrandonSchwartz1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Coop takes that into consideration because he owns a gym and many new gym goers are intimidated by the atmosphere and equipment. A lot of Coop’s product takes are because he deals with the *general public* not home gym rats like most of his subscribers (me).
      For home gym users, I could see this being slightly less important but don’t forget how many people buy a product because of an ad and then are too intimidated to start it or don’t know what to do or 100 other reasons. If you can remove even a few of those reasons not to use it, it helps your chances of being successful in starting training.

    No mention of how long the cords last ? Some owners have mentioned they fray and are not easy to replace. The chain on the rower lasts forever if oiled regularly.

    Unrelated story: my old cf box had a skateboard in the corner near where med balls were stored. I thought it was for kids to play with while their parents exercised. Nope. One of the athletes took a bullet to the knee in Afghanistan and itd glide back and forth supporting her foot while she rowed.

    • @squealer42
      @squealer42 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can secure the ski-erg directly to any standard wall, assuming you can hit the studs, and don't want to move it around. Foldable, or two piece like the row-erg - probably a design challenge to keep it from rattling.

    I own the ski erg and rower from C2 and it’s a great piece but definitely not a first purchase cardio piece. You are much better going with the rower, bike erg and the then the ski erg. While you can use it for steady state, it’s really meant for Hitt. I’m not a technique nazi but you’re butterfly motion isn’t really the way it’s recommended that you use

    • @InvestorAcademyPodca
      @InvestorAcademyPodca 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My thought as well. The ski erg is 95% upper body which makes it not ideal for a single piece to use for conditioning.

      @@InvestorAcademyPodca I love the ski erg and use my legs on every rep. If you're using 95% of your upper body I would recommend changing your technique.

    I actually am surprised at how much of a workout the Proform HIIT/Bowflex Max are. I know, illegal for crossfit folks, but still I good workout. FYI, I also have a C2, Assault Bike, Commercial Spin Bike, Power Rack, Bumper Plates etc. I like all of them. But if I just want to burn some calories, but not be so sore I can't function at work, the HIIT trainer is great.

    If you are looking for HIIT style training battle ropes would be cheaper and have a smaller footprint. If you are looking for more cardio based workouts a cycle trainer (preferably a direct drive trainer like a yahoo kickr) would make far more sense and you could use a bike you likely already own. Honestly you could buy both which would be about the same cost, have a smaller footprint and be more versatile than the ski erg.
