As a German i'm happy i finally found Autogefühl.
Compared to especially American Car Channels, Autogefühl is rather neutral and doesn't make stuff up or exaggerate just to fit a Trend (See all the "I bought a and it died and is unreliable and German Cars used to be good 30 years ago" Meme).
Autogefühl points out proper Criticism that is well deserved but doesn't jump on the weird mysterious "German Cars are bad"-Train certain US Clickbait TH-camr popularized in the past Years.

My old 2012 golf 6 that was 27k euro brand new has this. More and more of the auto industry is losing touch with their customers. Glossy screens, glossy plastic, too bright interior for night driving, shoving controls in the infotainment, etc.
Hope they come back on some of the basic quality of life decisions like vw coming back to real buttons on the steering wheel.
I'm starting to fear getting a newer car because of things I see will become constant annoyances.

For me the interior looks quite cheap, concidering its a "premium" car maker.. Shiny piano black plastics, fabrics, the removal of physical A/C controls and the capacitive BS buttons on the driver door and steering wheel feel like cost savings to the max.. and this specced out will probably be nearly 100k€.

    • @julianbeck2408
      @julianbeck2408 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

I can only think of two reasons:
      1. Design. Someone somewhere thought it looked "progressive", so they implemented it (BMW). Then, because of trends, everyone is now following.
      2. Headlight height. Cars, EVs especially, tend to get higher and higher. People in older, smaller, lower cars were starting to complain about getting blinded by all those highly mounted headlights. Therefore a solution had to be made and this split-headlight-design was made up to position the (not too bright) DRL in their usual spots while the bright low- and high beam is situated lower.
Doesn't Look great imo. Although personally I think Audi does pull it off better than BMW

I live in Finland and agree that the VW group matrix LED lighting system is very good in the winter, but up here it´s practically dark 9 months out of 12, so i would of course buy the car with full functionality. I doubt you save any money in the long run by subscribing for functions like that. It will brobably cost you more in the end then simply buy the function upfront with the car.

    • @Rrroarr
      @Rrroarr หลายเดือนก่อน

I get it but we're heading towards a "car as a service", I think ownership will be only for very special cars (sport etc).
      For example:
      I'm leasing a car for 3 years.
I wouldn't mind having a set of features that I pay per use, they become business expenses.
Ideally the base model costs less and I add whatever I want, when I want.
      And they become fully deductible.
It's not for everyone, but we're heading towards a society where ownership will be not the only way to have a car.

Technologically, the Q6 e-tron is equipped with advanced features like a dual-400V 800V battery pack that supports rapid charging-reaching 80% charge in just 30 minutes. This setup not only enhances efficiency but also reduces the overall size and weight of necessary components.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment.
You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at th-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/w-d-xo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.
A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: th-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/w-d-xo.html
And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: th-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/w-d-xo.html
New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: th-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/w-d-xo.html
More and more natural materials are rising: th-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/w-d-xo.html
Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: th-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/w-d-xo.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars.
We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary:

Love the DC charge port location. It matches Tesla and makes access to Tesla Superchargers much better. This is important in the US, where non-Tesla fast charging options are not good.

Hi Thomas, thanks for the great review. This car Looks like an upsized Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport on the outside. On the positive side, Audi is still at the top of the Lights Game. Touch capacitative buttons are just a no no but it seems manufacturers won’t listen. Oh, and yes I absolutely hate too many screens, two are maximum for infotainment and driver info display.

Just see the comments. There are not so much "Wow" about this car, but most critism for both interior, exterior and the price. Audi has failed again. Thank you Thomas for always been so neutral and honest!

I like the interior and the front digital dashboard is among the best in the business: software and hardware not to mention Audi is the king of the light game.

Audi Germany are showing a lot more information on this than the UK website. For instance it shows colour and wheel options but unfortunately I would like to know roughly what the Edition 1 spec costs above the base model price. The Edition 1 model includes 21" alloys with red break calipers, passenger screen, matrix signature lights and a proactive passenger protection system to the front, side and rear of the car, and a painted front grill. It also shows the Edition 1 model is available in two colour choices, magnet grey and ascari blue. On the base model it appears you get leather heated seats to the front and rear as standard, a heated steering wheel, B&O 3D sound system (with speakers in all headrests) plus the augmented head up display. It also seems their is an S Line trim option between the base and Edition 1 versions. I've also read that sales will begin in the UK from April 30th and I'd expect deliveries in the autumn.

A6 e-tron will be cheaper or within the same price range with this one?

It will be interesting to see how this fits in the Australian market. I’m an Audi Q5 driver & would consider changing to an EV but range & quality are huge factors here.
Interior design & quality is very different to my leather clad Q5 & the display is a bit distracting.
If I am tempted to go down the EV route, it would need to impress when I see it in the flesh.

Just to add to this regarding range, I have just completed a trip from home just north of Sydney to Queensland Gold Coast. I filled the car with fuel & it indicated a range of 910 km. Made the trip without refueling & it indicated 270 km range left on arrival. When an EV can give me that, I will be a happy man.

great review as always... I think this Audi Q6 is very good in terms of exterior design and in terms of the interior I think it's much better than its German rivals...
I think it is well built and the screens are well integrated into each other, unlike for example the Mercedes...

Personally, I don't mind having functionality I didn't pay for locked in a car (like how Tesla let's you buy the acceleration boost). But I draw the line at the additional function being a subscription, for me it has to be a one time charge

I have booked a meeting next week to change my SQ5. But the price shocked me, as I was sure it would be somewhere midway between Q4 and Q8, maybe close to 70k.
Will consider Tesla, though I'm not a fan of the design or maybe look towards Mercedes. Or wait for a price drop.
