    I bought the skyzone cobra x as a spare spectator goggle. I noticed when I tried using it with HDZero it was very difficult for me to even fly and I found myself repeatedly crashing with just flying as I normally do. I chalked it up to just not being used to the box style vs binocular. Makes more sense now seeing how much latency it adds over hdmi input

    From what I see here, some new Walksnail Avatar HD googles with analog FPV module support (any FatShark compatible module like TBS Fusion or RapidFire) would be a bomb. Because would allow to use single googles for both digital Walksnail system and any analog FPV VTX existing at today. Much cheaper than requiring two (or three) googles too for FPV folk who already have something analog.

  • @No1x3N
    @No1x3N ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Bought a skyzone 04x last year as my first fpv googles in the hopes that in the future a more affordable or flexible digital system would appear and I could still use the skyzones with that (didn't want to shell out the absurd price for DJI and the closed ecosystem they have, and also the way they break compatibility with older products). Really happy to see that walksnail would be a good way to test digital.

    • @KOrnhOliO1
      @KOrnhOliO1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A good way to test digital? How is 46ms latency a good way to test digital FPV? You really think you'll like flying with 46ms BEST CASE SCENARIO latency? Like JB said, that's the least you'll ever feel and most of the time, when actually flying FPV, you'll be getting 10 - 15ms more latency...so, more like 56 - 61ms latency in actual use. Not flyable really unless you just fly wings.
      Also, the 04X's cost $529.99 and the OLD price on the DJI V2 goggles was $569.99 with 4 antennas and a battery. So, how did you feel the V2's goggles were an "absurd price?" At least you would have gotten BY FAR the best image quality, range with clarity, and penetration digital FPV has ever achieved...and for only $40 more than what your 04X's cost. But, would it have been more when I don't think the Skyzone goggles come with antennas or a battery. Plus, the new price on the V2 goggles is only $429 USD!
      Just so ya know, that "breaking of compatibility with older products" is old news! DJI now supports forward AND backward compatibility with their new 03 digital system and the Vista/Link VTX's from the past. Both the V2 goggles and the Goggles 2 work with both of these VTX's. Full compatibility and then some added little features we weren't expecting but DJI gave users anyway.

      @@KOrnhOliO1 For me the latency is fine, skyzone's came with everything I needed, except battery, but u can use a powerbank. When comparing the price I also took into account the transmitters, they are notoriously more expensive than the analog counterparts.

    • @rehepeks
      @rehepeks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KOrnhOliO1 I also went with the sky04x instead of dji because of the RIDICULOUS price. Back then the DJI was 600+ eur and I managed to snatch the sky04x for just a bit over 300 on a sale. New price of dji for peasant europeans is still 570eur = ~625 usd. The DJI compatibility means they connect but based on reviews I have found then the Goggles 2 with vista are utter shit.

    I am using the Walksnail VRX with my older Fat Shark Dominator HDO goggles. You can go into the Walksnail VRX and change the aspect ration to 4:3 to match the googles. I don't know if this stretches the vertical or clips the horizontal but the image looks great and I don't notice that the image is deformed or anything. I will say that the video is 100 times better than any analog with rapidfire. Wow!

      I don't think the 4:3/16:9 option changes the aspect ratio put out by the vRX. It was originally put in the menu to control the aspect ratio of the camera, but it's been a "dead option" since Walksnail has never made a camera that supports 4:3. I have tested it in the past, and I tested it with the vRX, and in all cases, it seems to have no effect.

    Skyzone Sky04X with the 16:9 image has actually a 42 degree FOV, compared to HDzero and Walksnail's 46, so it's a little bit smaller. Oscar Liang has a pretty nice FOV comparison tool.

    • @JoshuaBardwell

      It definitely doesn't look smaller to me, when looking in the goggles.

    • @pfeerick
      @pfeerick ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But it *has* to be smaller... since when displaying a 16:9 image, a 16:9 native screen with 46 FOV stays 46 FOV, whereas a 4:3 native screen with 46 FOV will have a smaller FOV due to diagonal being smaller. In this regard HDO2 and O4X would be the same but HD0 would win for biggest FOV @ 16:9... no? however, the real question there is how much difference do those 4 degrees really make?

    I hope people consider just getting the Walksnail/Dominator goggles if they haven't purchased a WS VRX yet. The VRX is a cheaper alternative to getting Walksnail if you already have goggles, but if you use the system a lot, it's worth it just to get the goggles so you don't have to deal with all the cables, bulk, weight, batteries, and accessories which can easily cost over $100 when you finally figure out your cable/battery/mounting setup and storage/carrying case setups. Living with the VRX vs living with Walksnail goggles is big quality of life difference depending on what you primarily fly.

I was nervous after watching your initial review as i was still waiting on my preorder, but i have been kinda blown away by how nice it is to fly. Ive started doing some fairly technical proxy stuff the last time i went out freestyling (only flown the system like maybe 5 or 6 times so far still) and i havent once felt like latency got in the way of me being able to hit a gap etc. All the clips in my most recent upload besides the stuff at the giant smokestack, are flown with the VRX module if anyone cares to take a gander.

The Cobra's have 7 image modes and the brightness, contrast, saturation, hue and sharpness can be adjusted. I do not recognise the dimm picture of JB's Cobra X2. Love the vibrant picture of my screens, many hours on them. For sure they cannot deliver the same picture as the Oled screens, but it's not as bad as JB's picture 😊

    Eachine EV900D. My friend is using them with Walksnail vrx. Picture is REALLY great, that 1080p lcd screen in there is great - bright and clear. And humongus. Too big for me. Doesn't work with 100 fps, but latency is lower than using them as analog goggles.

    • @KOrnhOliO1
      @KOrnhOliO1 ปีที่แล้ว

      But, as you probably know, the latency is most likely right around the BEST CASE SCENARIO on his chart of around 75ms latency. Like JB said, that's the least you'll ever feel and most of the time, when actually flying FPV, you'll be getting 10 - 15ms more latency...so, more like 85 - 91ms latency in actual use. Not flyable for FPV really, unless you just fly wings.

    • @mihavuk
      @mihavuk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KOrnhOliO1 I can't give any numbers. I was using EV900D as analog years ago and I felt the latency. And I was flying them as analog goggles few times recently since my friend is having them. There is a setting deep in the menues where you disable certain option and after that there is less latency using them as analog goggles. I definatelly felt that. Latency was still big (for analog), but it was better. And I was flying them recently since he bought Walksnail vrx and there was less latency for sure compared with using them as analog with that option disabled. I would say little more than using high quality with DJI. I would definatelly pick that over analog. And again, that gigantic 1080p lcd screen in there is the best looking lcd screen I have ever flown. And I did flew a lot of various fpv goggles. When Walksnail sorts out zoom out option it will be even better. That is, if you can live with 50+ ms latency.
