    Hello from Montpellier/France.
Congratulations for your beautiful video of the making of your 80 Lbs Mongolian bow
I am a 77 year old artist, and I make small bows for my children and my grandchildren.
for shooting on horseback Turks, but of weak powers. In my youth I competed and I was a good shooter. But with classic bows. Stabilizer, viewfinder etc. But for me, it's not real archery. I haven't shot an archery in 50 years. I lost all my muscles.
Three years ago, I got back into the bow. But also made bows like you, Asians, Mongols and Turks, Etc. However, I am a good handyman and I have several trades in my hands.
I did not think it was so complicated to make this kind of bows. I had started trying to make bows like yours, with sinew, buffalo horn and fish glue. But after two years, I gave up this kind of production. I have indeed broken 50 bows since July 2019 for several reasons. I continued with Bamboo, fiber and epoxy resin and very strong synthetic fiber pallet strapping rope. Since 2022, I've started to have good results with slightly different techniques than you. My arches are 0.95m, 1.10m and I start for 1.20/1.30m arches. The weight is 350gr/400-450gr. Power of 15/20/35 lbs.
After three years of manufacturing, I will try to make a bow like you with the old ancient Asian techniques. But the only thing I keep from my experiences is the use of epoxy wood glues and also tendons. In France, it is impossible to have this kind of tenbon. It is prohibited for sale. It's stupid. Congratulations again for your work.
Are you an artist. And a very good craftsman. Cheer. Patrick Dupré-opart.
PS: Can you please tell what wood your bow is made of? If you are interested, I can send you seeds of "Osage des oranges", I have plenty of them 3 km from my village. It is a fast growing tree.

Thank you sir, It's my honor to hear your story and know about your work. I'm also started with self-taught about bow making. I'm succeed making fiberglass bow and wood-fiberglass laminated bow, broken alot of couse. I just got lucky that I meet a master about horn bow making and learned very much from him. I'm indeed not an artist or skillful craftsman, I'm just trying my best eachday. Thank you, sir, for noticed my work. If conviniece, i really love to got my hands on some osage orange seed. I have some usable native wood in my coutry, but I'm really curious about osage orange wood.

Indians migrated from around Iran, not mongolia. The later mughal empire was created by people who had mongolian heritage, but they were only a small part. Even the mongol empire by that point was largely made up of various other peoples, just led by genghis khan's family.

Ancient culture and craftsman fascinate me too because they learned how to engineer and build things without modern technology. The bow has been used by every culture on earth and though they share many similar ideas they all have their own little unique ways to make them. I appreciate the people like yourself who try to keep the ancient skills alive so they are never forgotten and allows others to see how far we have advanced in our technology!

My friend, this is not just a bow. it's a masterpiece. I am heartily envious of the patience, craftsmanship and talent you put into it. Well done. As far as I know, horse tribes have had such bows - the Mongols, the Huns, the Bulgarians and the Hungarians. Then the Turks inherited the secret of making strong bows from the Tatar - Mongols.
Stabilisateur, viseur etc. Mais pour moi, ce ‘est pas du vrais tir à l’arc. Je n’ai pas tiré à l’arc depuis 50 ans. J’ai perdu tous mes muscles.
Depuis trois ans, je me suis remis à l’arc.
