I love that this is a dude making a genuine bow, that really REALLY works good and he makes it the way he feels he gets good results, he's conscious of where he comes from and where this bow style comes from and he chooses how to express it. This is the real deal.

I'm not a "bowyer" per se, but every once in a while I get the bug to build one again. Watching a good bowyer like yourself work really gets the itch going! Love how that one turned out with all the curves!

It’s refreshing watching a true craftsman applying his(or her) talents without having to hear that person run their mouth the whole video! It really gets exhausting watching 5mins of work and 25mins of them talking just to hear themselves talk! Great video sir and truly enjoyed watching your skill!

Great Bow !!!! My brother challenge me to make a ironwood bow 40 years ago, think he still has it . Your right about bowmakers not very many of us. My favorite hunting bow is made Osage also. We have been fortunate to teach for 20 years . Carry on young man!!!
    Great vid and presentation!!!🎉

    • @isaacbrascoupe

Each nation had local favs and favorite trade woods!!
We have worked with hickory, white ash , sassafrass , hackberry and Osage. Design changes and mistakes bring out the best from each wood. Remember our elders didn't have a ruler , but a good eye and desire to build a fine bow.

I often make stuff for use when I make stuff, lol, and sometimes make stuff to use underwater when I harvest in the ocean. I have great respect for the talented hands and mind, that can take raw materials from nature, and make works of art that are practical and beautiful. my father was, Mescalero Apache and Mexican, and I would watch him make things when I was a kid. He fed us like this too. Thanks for posting this video. Subscribed and thumbs up, brother.

I've built one bow from white oak and was proud it didn't explode, the folks on the primitive archer forum were helpful during tillering, as was the "bowyer's bible". That's a great little community by the way, every traditional bowyer in the world, and there aren't many are keeping a tradition alive that was lost nearly everywhere.
