    In 1977 I went to my girlfriend's house and saw a 1971 yellow/ green Datsun 240 Z in the driveway, stored by her brother who's friend went overseas. That was the exact minute I fell in love with sports cars. I studied it everyday. Months later I bought a 4 year old White 240Z with red interior at the age of 20 years old. It was the love of my life! The sound of that straight six was intoxicating. I think I polished it every other week. I'd give anything to have that car back!

    I've been commenting many times to you and tedward that I would love to see either of you guys get in the seat on one of these cars, happy that it finally happened but definitely one of your shortest drives. Hopefully you can get behind the wheel of one again and give us more insight on how you feel about the car in detail.

    It's interesting to see that the 350/370Z carried over some of its interior design language (i.e. the gauges).

    Such an iconic car! My friend down the street from me growing up had a 1976 Toyota Celica in the family that we used to sit in and pretend to drive. The Datsun’s interior and steering wheel reminded me so much of it. Very cool flashback to a time I don’t often think of. Awesome video!

      I totally agree with you and @WESTNILESDAFEVER both. To be fair, the safety regulations that today's designers face are far, far more restrictive. Those regulations were already starting to change quite a bit back in the 70's and you could see the impact of these changes simply by comparing the 240Z and the later 280Z (the 280Z's bumpers were fairly atrocious by comparison).

  • @VirtualGuth
    @VirtualGuth ปีที่แล้ว +1

    "1971, safety regulations were different" - a big part of why the 240Z is so much better looking than anything made today.

This guy is really trying to drive home the fact that "this car is amazing, so pay a lot for it". Seems all business with this guy. Not in the market for a car like this, but if I was, his sales pitch would be a huge turnoff.
