Keeping the Datsun Spirit Alive - 1971 Datsun 240z | Documentary

- In the pursuit of fulfilling his lifelong dreams, Justin had plenty of choices to make when he rebuilt his 240z. What was obvious from the beginning though, was that he wanted to keep the Datsun spirit alive with a “resto-mod” approach by keeping the same L series motor accompanied by a combination of upgraded suspension and braking components. With this build, the humble 70’s Japanese sports car has been tastefully updated to meet the modern day to day drivability without compromising the true ethos of the Datsun Z.

'Tis an absolute pleasure that this car graces our local roads. Can't wait to see it in the flesh. Lovely film!

One day❤
I had a Datsun 240 Z that I bought off my brother when he burned out the engine. It had wheel well flares in the front and back and had 235x50x 15 tires on it. I completely redid the car. I rebuilt the engine myself and it had 11 1/2 to 1 compression and had triple Weber’s on it. I had KYB struts and it was lowered 1 inch all the way around. I had a one and three-quarter inch sway bar in the front and an inch and an eighth swaybar in the back. That car handled like a dream, and it was pretty quick too. I put a five speed transmission in it and that car loved 90 miles an hour on the freeway. I even designed and had a machine shop make some turnbuckles for the suspension so they could adjust the suspension without having to shim or bend the angle braces. I really love that car but when I got married and we had a kid come along, I had to get rid of it. I wish I had never gotten rid of that car and I always hoped that they would make a modern car but in that style.
What a car, my friends!! 🔥
Datsun Z. The first car I've fallen in love with at first glance. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the motivation.
Inspirational, the legend lives. These cars were a blast in there day and the growing enthusiasm never ceases to amaze me. Long live the Datsun Z car
Incredible work
My father passed away we never got along anytime other than working on cars when I brought home my 1980 280zx he was pissed but slowly he started to like the 280 always sending me videos .he passed away about 8 months after I brought that car home I'm still working on restoring it still 2 years later now but the z cars will always have a place in my heart as my first car project but also the cars that my dad and I reconnected over.love that people are still keeping these cars and fixing or modifying them
One of our favorite builds we have done here at NV Auto. This video just launched as we start our next 71 but this one is getting a LS swap. Definitely not as pure but it's going to be a ripper!!
love that the L24 was left in the car. great looking Z!
Just finished winter maintenance/new season prep. Still raining here (Oregon) but can’t wait to cruise my Z. Now I’m just watching videos in anticipation haha. Great video. I hope your kids find your passion and carry it forward with your Z
Gorgeous car. Tastefully done.
That random leaf really wanted to be in the film 😂
Had the pleasure of seeing this car on Sunday, incredible build and story.
I sooo want that car. Awesome!
Very nice coverage and congrats to the owner and following his passion.
I wish i can finish my Hakosuka soon.
Nice build, we share similar taste with the S30. Mine has many of the same upgrades, willwood big brake kit, T3 stuff. Even the Nardi wheel and the Schroth harnesses and the RS replica seats. I run triple carbs, haven't had any issues now for 14 years since I got her back on the road from a long restoration.
Amazing job. Great story telling.
Great video! Love this car Justin, but you know that. You've done an awesome job with it.
Love this channel so far. Hope the quality of the work never drops. Keep the clean builds coming. Love the sentiment behind each owners and their cars.

True love
Fantastic video, awesome car, and the owner seems like a great guy! Just stumbled upon this channel, and immediately recognized 2 of the roads you're filming on (I cruise on them all the time in the summer). Love it! 😎👍
I really enjoy watching these kinds of documentaries: learning the story behind cars and all is really a good idea 👍🏼
Love seeing videos like this about others sharing the same passion as me with Z’s.
Wonderful representation of our passion for the Datsun Z!
Hey guys, I just met yall in Georgia filming that red Ferrari. Great videos! I subbed.

Thank you for publishing such incredible content!

Really cool car!
Bravo mate. Beautiful period-correct Restomod that i would LOVE to own. Nothing worse than yahoo's fitting LS blocks to Z's so I'm so happy! Haha
Nice video, nice story and absolutely ASTONISHING CAR 🔥
cool ..... i miss my Z too
I have a 1970 240z. I LOVE this video and I love how this played out! Got some parts that helped lock him into not backing out on his dream. Very cool. The only thing i'm not in love with is the wheels sticking out too far for the width of tires. Looks alittle pushed out too far. But amazing car and amazing story!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stunning car!
Great video, enjoy her, she's perfect 👌.
Sounds as good as it looks 👌
Amazing car!
If I was building a Z again I'd go with ITB injection too; it can do everything carbs can, and is a lot easier to set up.
Love that license plate! Haha. Great shots as always guys!
Funny how people don't catch the plate at first. Like an inside joke.
My favorite 😍
Fantastic 👏
FANTASTIC car! Well executed. What color is this?
Just wondering if you are at any car shows this year around Ontario I would love to see this car in persand show my son.
The only thing sexier than this car is the owner.
Dave you are captain dream boat.
What rims are these? beautiful car!
Hello man, I love your work and filming skills, I live in Dublin so there isn't much car events sadly. I was wandering if it's ok with you if I make edits from you videos for Tiktok. I would give you all the credit and mention you.If not, no worries. Thanks
❤❤
Hey there. I also just recently picked up a Datsun and I really love your show and car. For you think you could share me the color code?
Its an Axalta paints colour from thier custom solid colour book - Paint was done in 2018.... in all honesty it is so close to the Subaru Wilderness Outback Geyeser Blue that I am using that as a touch up paint!
I would love to know the price breakdown of a rebuild like that
Ah the devil Z
