So I finally got this game to the table today, I think I ordered my copy around the same time you posted this video but just now started playing it and what a little gem! As someone who always wanted to play Talisman solo this game does give me a similar feel, also the game designer is very awesome and very helpful :D.
Thanks for this Daniel - I was on the fence with the unboxing / discussion videos, but seeing it action, it looks ideal for me, and simple enough to teach others too.
Well, I did it. Went all in. Ordered the Pauper's Ladder base game, Moon Tower expansion and Moon Tower coloring book (just because). When I get this game I may leave a few of my thoughts on the game. I am 63 yo and loving dungeon exploration games I think more than board games per se. Have started playing and still am liking CRPG's. Heard of D&D when in university but to busy to get involved then.
I don't think so. Maybe using one of the scenarios in the One Lonely Pauper expansion, which is a cheap expansion available on Paul's website, but I'm not sure.
You could probably combine elements from the solo mode (with the hearts and time) with the main game to make it co-operative. So if someone dies or the time runs out before you've completed x number of Virtues between you then it's game over. I'll have a good think about that! I reckon it could work..
@@grebn For a two-player co-op you could say "six virtues must be completed between the two of you." So one person could do two and the other four. Have some sort of trading element when in the same region (if one doesn't already exist).
@@alamb1101 I really like the trading idea - you could swap trophy room points for gems with another player. The fact it would be against the clock would certainly make it more urgent. I'll see if I can rope someone in to playing it with me and report back!
Great playthrough, i think I'll eventually end up buying the game but the price is what's holding me back currently. Also, how did you defeat the Iron Eye with a 5? Did I miss something, or was this a mistake?
Daniel. Having watched this video I am intrigued by the game. But have a few questions. First would you suggest this game for adults or is it more geared towards younger people? Do you think the game is re-playable? Also, have you found enough new things happening that the game stays exciting? I noticed that one theme of the game is to collect gems and on some cards the art is interesting suggesting an interesting locale for instance but still collecting gems is the result. Do you think the game might get somewhat repetitive? Thanks, enjoy your videos. Your passion for RPG's is addictive. I just got Forgotten Depths and I want to like the game but sorting cards, setting up the game, drawing from a multitude of decks and finding some way to put the game away in the useless plastic insert has me frustrated. Paupers ladder maybe is the answer for a fun little relaxing game.
Well, I'm almost 50 and love the game, and don't have kids. It's highly re-playable, because it's not scenario-based. It's just an old school race to the finish. I've played the game a handful of times, and have loved it each time. I do recommend getting the expansion with it. If you enjoy older style games like Talisman, Runebound and Mertwig's Maze, this is for you.
Just pre-ordered 2nd edition thanks to you! Cheers 🍻
Yes, thank you, Daniel. I'm happy to see I'm not alone in having placed an order with Paul based on your Pauper's Ladder videos. Always great content!
Thank you! Appreciate it. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do.
A magical game (my family loved it), often overlooked so very pleased to see DD showcasing this hidden gem of a game.
Very cool and streamlined.
Thank you for introducing this cute, colorful creation..

Right on! It's a real joy to play. Just a super inviting game. I love it.

well done as always my brother
Thanks, Rob. :)
iron eye was 6 strength not 4. You needed to use your token.
It's like a friendlier and smoothed out version of Talisman
That is is.
Just ordered the game from Paul, can't wait! Is there any way to make this co-operative?

Don’t know. Probably a mistake. That’s why I don’t make teaching videos. I’ve never played a game totally right in my life.
Are the solo rules included or do you need the 'One Lonely Pauper' expansion?
There are solo rules with the Moon Tower expansion.
I saw the wild fairy in the achievement book!
Good eye! Thanks. :)
