This game is a hidden gem, at least in the US. Very fun game

    Thank you for this video.
I'm not sure if you ever make videos for games which you don't like,
But while I find it hard to tell how authentic your opinion truly is -
I do appreciate the fact that you mentioned which aspects of the game people might not like, or at least should be aware of (..such as the luck factor in this case).

I do turn down videos I am sure I will not like at all, cause if I know I will not have fun playing it then it is a real chore. However, my review philosophy is that there are very few trash games, and it is my job to find things that I think are well done, and also to always point out things that might rub people the wrong way.
So everything I say that I think is done well, I actually think is done well, and all of my quibbles are things that I think either personally aren't the best, or that I think you, the viewer, might have an issue with.
I do not lie, nor do I avoid things. What I do do is I make sure that I am KIND about how I give criticism. These are things that people have put their hopes and dreams into for years in some cases, so for me to say say "This sucks" is cruel, and more importantly not helpful criticism. This is doubly true when I am trying to keep my audience in mind who might like something.
Now this particular video is an older one, and I have certainly matured in my style, and my critique, but I am always authentic with what I say, I am just not one to use click bait, or inflammatory statements to get views.

I do my end of year awards and the monthly menu to talk more about my personal favorites, those videos I do not attempt to figure out who the game is for, rather those are the ones that are purely for me.

Very nice and helpful review, thank you. And yes, the word "charming" is the one that fits this game!

I'd like to ask you to compare this game-in a certain way- to Talisman. Talisman, Like Pauper's Ladder, is a game with so much luck that anyone can win. And yet, it is also a game of deep skill. There's a lot of decisions to make, both tactical and strategic, where one's understanding of how the game develops makes a difference. I have always enjoyed Talisman as a social game, knowing that I am playing it well, and that none the less, any of my friends, children or relatives have a good chance to win. SO: Is Pauper's Ladder like that? Is there a lot of skill in learning how to manage the luck? Thanks, -toby
