    Wow, 8 years and STILL relevant. Got a new government job as a mechanic and got told to replace two steer tires on a f350 truck, using this machine. 0 idea since i have always just muscle it up since previous places never bother buying a machine. Your video helped me a lot just now. Thanks a lot!

      Exactly same here. I help out at the tyre shop because my dad says I have to know how it is to work hard/ be able to do these things. It’s not like he wants me to work at the tyre shop though he would much rather have me become a doctor or something. He just says if I fuck up I can always just go to tyres.

    Everything is almost right, except for....
    Need to adjust tire machine from the begining, millimeters higher and away from the rim because if its an alloy rim you wil chip it or scratch it etc etc....
    Also when u install the tire, the valve stem should be parallel to the bar, so u dont touch it or break the sensor... and when u remove the tire you had it correct valve stem shud be behind the the duck head..
    Also when u installing the tire get use to using the bar by pushing down not your hands because if its a low profile tire.. 1st it be easier, 2nd you won't injure your hands...

  • @DanLoFat

      This is actually really true most places will be very upset if you do DOT in instead of DOT out which could be very bad depending on the tires and if tires are directional

    At Sam's Club we always put the valve core back in before inflating to seat the bead and had no issues. If we had an issue on a larger narrow tire maybe like a Dually we would use a Cheetah air blaster to shoot air in while pushing the lever for the air in the valve stem.

    You should never pump a tire up when it's still locked onto the machine

    • @kennethadkins3335
      @kennethadkins3335 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When seating the bead the rim needs to be clamped in place to allow the user to lift up or push down to assist the bead in sealing. Also, the 4 jets that blast air from the turn table clamps would not be aimed at the proper point (edge or rim/bead of tire) and might even knock the tire off the machine. After the tire has sealed to the rim and beginning to inflate then yes, it must be released. If you watch at about the 9:18 mark I do release the rim and continue inflating it. Thanks for the comment!

    He means the valve stem core. Not the whole stem obviously.
    Also, use a bar with rubber on the middle so when you pop the tire off the rim the bar doesnt chip or scratch chrome rims. Saw many people try to say we did something to their rims then we’d show them it wasn’t possible.
    We also used hard plastic duck heads to prevent scratching.

  • @owenmahorny3450
    @owenmahorny3450 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just FYI the stem is the entire assembly which sometimes includes a TPMS sensor, older cars might not be equipped with them. The valve core is the tiny piece that sits in the stem that ensures the air stays in the tire. The tool used to remove the core is called a Valve Core Remover, or VCR. Im a tire mechanic so I know what i’m talking about
