I am 14 years old today. My dad started taking me to his tire shop since I was 10 I started mounting and dismounting since 2 years ago. This is very fun and interesting thing to do. I plan on teaching my future kids this to keep the family legacy alive
Exactly same here. I help out at the tyre shop because my dad says I have to know how it is to work hard/ be able to do these things. It’s not like he wants me to work at the tyre shop though he would much rather have me become a doctor or something. He just says if I fuck up I can always just go to tyres.

Remember you want the valve stem in front of the Duck when removing the tire. And when putting the tire on you want it at about 9 o’clock. To protect the TPS

I have the hard, black, plastic duck on my machine….seemed to help a lot on tire removal to brush some tire lube on the head so the tire would roll up there easier. So nice to have your own tire machine. Great video, thanks!

I am 17 as of a week ago, my dad told me to look up online how to use the tire machine I searched it up and found this video 7 years ago an it taught me almost everything I know about replacing tires. And after all these years I didn’t know what that knob on the side did until now.
He never explained nothing about damaging the sensors and where to have them in place, wonder how many beginners followed him and ended up breaking them 😐

Yes, this video was just for common wheels. Low profile and run flats either require a different machine or very good technique and a lot of lube. I made a video but the sound is not good on it.

too my suspension and steering teacher about 40 minutes to teach us how to use a tire machine LOL, and he kept saying stuff like "do it like this" "make sure it does this" "have it like this" (physically saying the word this) first time someone used the machine for their personal use the instructor was watching and guiding him, the kid tore the tire and broke the tpms with the instructor watching if you can tell im learning a lot in that class

@Rey0011 C not a tire shop, but usually dealers and auto shops hire 2nd and 3rd year apprentices which is easiest when you are attending a mechanic school, you dont need a license to be a tire tech
I got good at this during school but on one of my practice runs I failed fully loosen the second bead. As I was spinning the machine my left hand was flat on the crow bar and it shot straight to the right close to the rim and bead, causing my middle finger to get caught in between and cut more than half of my finger (right under the nail) fully clean. I got 10 stitches and currently healing from it. Be safe yall

@@MrAdkinsAuto I got the Major Tire Machine LT-3710, its almost like I need the 220 volt versus the 110 volt, gets caught up as the last 1/8 of the tire has to go in place.
Everything is almost right, except for.... Need to adjust tire machine from the begining, millimeters higher and away from the rim because if its an alloy rim you wil chip it or scratch it etc etc.... Also when u install the tire, the valve stem should be parallel to the bar, so u dont touch it or break the sensor... and when u remove the tire you had it correct valve stem shud be behind the the duck head.. Also when u installing the tire get use to using the bar by pushing down not your hands because if its a low profile tire.. 1st it be easier, 2nd you won't injure your hands...
I don't mind. Glide stuff is fine but you definitely want to clean that check that rim for any corrosion and clean the corrosion off before you put the old or a new tire back on

This is actually really true most places will be very upset if you do DOT in instead of DOT out which could be very bad depending on the tires and if tires are directional
At Sam's Club we always put the valve core back in before inflating to seat the bead and had no issues. If we had an issue on a larger narrow tire maybe like a Dually we would use a Cheetah air blaster to shoot air in while pushing the lever for the air in the valve stem.

You are correct. As I explain, this video is very basic for automotive students learning how to use a tire machine for the first time. If a wheel has TPMS, then extra steps and care must be taken.
When seating the bead the rim needs to be clamped in place to allow the user to lift up or push down to assist the bead in sealing. Also, the 4 jets that blast air from the turn table clamps would not be aimed at the proper point (edge or rim/bead of tire) and might even knock the tire off the machine. After the tire has sealed to the rim and beginning to inflate then yes, it must be released. If you watch at about the 9:18 mark I do release the rim and continue inflating it. He means the valve stem core. Not the whole stem obviously. Also, use a bar with rubber on the middle so when you pop the tire off the rim the bar doesnt chip or scratch chrome rims. Saw many people try to say we did something to their rims then we’d show them it wasn’t possible. We also used hard plastic duck heads to prevent scratching.
Just FYI the stem is the entire assembly which sometimes includes a TPMS sensor, older cars might not be equipped with them. The valve core is the tiny piece that sits in the stem that ensures the air stays in the tire. The tool used to remove the core is called a Valve Core Remover, or VCR. Im a tire mechanic so I know what i’m talking about

Very true. The sensor must b under thr duck head when removing, and directly across from it when putting the tire on. Good catch, i saw it too.

Clinco Brown yes, 220v works way better. I used 110v until electric was updated. It was much weaker.

Also, use a bar with rubber on the middle so when you pop the tire off the rim the bar doesnt chip or scratch chrome rims. Saw many people try to say we did something to their rims then we’d show them it wasn’t possible.
We also used hard plastic duck heads to prevent scratching.
Just FYI the stem is the entire assembly which sometimes includes a TPMS sensor, older cars might not be equipped with them. The valve core is the tiny piece that sits in the stem that ensures the air stays in the tire. The tool used to remove the core is called a Valve Core Remover, or VCR. Im a tire mechanic so I know what i’m talking about
