    My wife and I have a daughter that we were told she had Rhett's Syndrome. We later found out it was Pitt Hopkins, which is another rare genetic disorder. I definitely understand the challenges that goes along with raising a child with special needs (she is 20 years old now). From what I can see, both of you are doing an outstanding job as parents. I've really enjoyed watching your channel.

    What I liked most about this video was your determination to do this in winter, with a toddler and your wonderful wife. Reminds me of what my dad put us through as kids.

      @michael boultinghouse I remember being about 6 years old and my brother was 2, we were stuck in the mud up to the axels high in the mountains on a fishing trip. Dad walked out to get help and left Mom and my brother and I for hours. It seemed he always took us where no one else was. Lots of adventures.

    I for sure did not start watching this channel to see a youngster get parented, but as a dad whose been on plenty of road trips with his son and wife, you two are awesome with that young man! The patience you both, but especially Tory from how this is edited, show for that little one is to be admired and called out for its purity!
    Thanks for being great parents!

    The thing I liked most was that you gave an unvarnished, straight from the hip, no excuses, all the good, the bad, and the ugly, and with a smile glimpse into an adventure on the road that Tori is rocking with the Tacoma, and all the real life stuff like: cooking, breaking down, driving, boredom, excitement, beautiful country views, because a lot of people are craving some real life stuff. Way more people should be seeing all of your videos. Thanks for making all of these.

      Nothing so far , got a few tips for you, don’t Carey the spare under your truck! If you get in a hole and blow a tire you can’t get spare out , buy a 4 way wrench for your lug nut , buy a floor jack, get a bbq lighter for your stove , prepare as much food ahead of time as you can , crack eggs and carry in a container for example, don’t use awning in a snow storm ,

    • @shanewells9067
      @shanewells9067 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is this a video on how to cook eggs 🥚 I can’t watch you pull out that cooler and stove one more time 👎🏻

    • @cgraysonsmith
      @cgraysonsmith 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@shanewells9067 Well, don't come back and comment, @$$hole. 99.9% of comments here are positive, and he asked what you liked. Just don't bother. "Don't Carey", WTF does that mean? Did you mean to say "carry", or is "Carey" some insider joke? Have you seen Jim's other videos, or know that he is an outdoor survivor/adventurer? Your advice is a load of it too. Ok, crack eggs before hand, what a waste of time, bwa-hah-hah! And what, put the container in a cooler, or is the container going to keep cracked eggs fresh for days...need I go on????

    I love seeing the beautiful and isolated country you explore. Places I will never see but just knowing nature so grand still exists is wonderful. You know how to figure things out when you get in difficult situations. Calm, cool, and sometimes pissed off which is refreshing. And sibling love but frustrating too when brother does stuff that bugs you. Just like when you were kids I’m sure. or getting cranky when things get scary. I laughed so hard when you and your wife Tory exchanged some snappy comments during a difficult rapid run that scared the crap out of you both. Very real and weirdly charming. Thanks for all the tips on fire starting and other cool things to know the next time I’m in the outback. Ha! I’m 73 years old so that’s not going to happen. I just tag along from my living room. Keep them coming.

    Jim just a bit of a heads up about running your generator in cold weather.You might want to think about making a box for it with a inch clearance bigger then its own dimensions.That has a hole for the exhaust you might have noticed that the motor oil stays thick when running it in winter months.Make a hinged lid that you can prop open so it breaths.Just a sugestion

    U should pick up a copy of The Milepost, if u don’t have one. It tells u where ALL the gas stations r & absolutely everything else. It’s vital information for driving the Alcan. I come from Alaska (55 years & now retired), so I know what I’m talking about. U might find it in the magazine section of grocery stores & a book store for sure. It’s not cheap, but well worth it! Get one if u don’t have one. Oh forgot, I’ve been over the Alcan more than 30 times....I’m just saying. Good luck & be safe, Patti

    Tori, " Jim, are you roasting meat for breakfast?" Jim, " no, I'm just cooking my hands over the stove, cuz my hands are freakin freezing!"
    I've been helping my gf raise her pretty heavily autistic son for about 15 years now. It's not always easy, I know, but we've all built a powerful bond in our odd little family. Good luck to you guys.

      Thanks a lot for sharing that. I believe Fox G1 is similar to autism in some ways. I just feel that he is a real blessing snd I’m thankful that I was given him.

    Many Canadians built the Alaska Highway too. My father in law was one worker. He was from PEI.
