- Glenn Hughes, the former bassist, and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the 'Voice of Rock', Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the front man for rock super group Black Country Communion, recently announced an evening celebrating music from "Burn" and other classic hits from Deep Purple's rich back catalog - during a USA tour that will mostly see him co-headlining with guitar great Yngwie Malmsteen.
Billed as "Glenn Hughes Performs The 50th Anniversary of Deep Purple's BURN Live", Hughes will perform classic hits from the legendary album, and the addition of Deep Purple MKIII and MKIV songs. Glenn's band will feature his long-time collaborator Soren Andersen (guitar), Ash Sheehan (drums) and Ed Roth (keyboards).
'It was 50 years ago, in the summer of 1973, that the "Burn" album was written at Clearwell castle in Gloucestershire UK,” reminisces Hughes “The atmosphere was electric, in such amazing surroundings. All the songs on "Burn" were written in the crypt/dungeon, underneath the great hall. We worked on a new song every day, and we were in the flow. Musically we would play, and work out ideas, and David and I would come up with vocal melodies that would later have lyrics. I remember it like it was yesterday.”
With barely a week before the tour begins, Hughes chatted with Rodrigo Altaf regarding the upcoming shows, while also talked about how recovery changed his life, his relationship with David Coverdale and Richie Blackmore, his memories about the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Deep Purple and much more.

I would love be to see a Black Country Communion tour. I’ve seen Glenn twice and both times he killed it. So good.
Glenn Hughes, the Living Legend.
Great man and great musician
Lovely bloke...worked with him for a tour and the Trapeze reunion...both from the same area in the Midlands...Good o ya mate.
Amazing conversation!
Great questions! Thanks especially for asking about a follow up to the Hughes/Thrall album. I would love to hear those recordings from 2000. I think that Pat Thrall is as much ‘involved’..in the lack of progress of getting for these recordings on the market. With the recent passing of Bernie Marsden, the sands of time are running out. C’mon Pat & Glenn
If I ever had a chance to sing with any great singer it would be with Glenn Hughes…
