  • Orangutans spend most of their lives in trees forests in Sumatra and Borneo. They get their food from the trees, and they build nests in the branches to sleep in. Their long arms help them swing from tree to tree. They use their hands and feet to grab and hold tree branches and food. Orangutans are very smart. They sit under leafy branches for protection from rain and sun, and sometimes even put a very large leaf on their head like a rain hat!
    Siamangs are arboreal inhabitants of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatran rain and monsoon forests. Their distinguishing feature is a large throat sac that they use to make socially important vocalizations. These primates are endangered due to illegal pet trade and habitat loss.

    Thanks for your video. You are supposed to be an expert with wild animals but calling Siamangs Gibbons as monkeys is a common mistake among people who are ignorant about animals. We should be able to see that Gibbons, similar to Orangs, don't have tails. Another unique feature of Gibbons is that they walk upright like Homosapiens. How on earth you can call them monkeys?

      I didn't mean to offend anybody. My point is that common people don't have to know the difference between a monkey and an Ape. I didn't know the difference until learning that from National Geographic. But this video is from someone who is supposed to be an animal expert.

    • @jasonberryman1035
      @jasonberryman1035 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@mezzoforte8799 orangutans are not innately “gentle” like all intelligent animals there’s nuance to their behavior. Orangutans have still seriously injured and chased people before territorially before and male orangutans sometimes violently force themselves on females. Contrasty, chimpanzees aren’t as horrible as the media sometimes makes them out as. I’m not saying any of this to put orangutans in a bad light or anything but just to say that like dolphins, chimpanzees, humans and elephants orangutans are too intelligent to be limited to one defining trait, they can be gentle but they can also be brutal if they want.
