Male Orangutan Shows Interest In Mum And Both Babies

- I uploaded a new version with sound now, but unfortunately with the grass being cut and me being at the distance, Jazz's and Djimat's sounds are near enough inaudible unfortunately.
Djimat the dad of Jazz's baby and Sprout's baby is approaching Jazz with the two babies on her chest. You can just slightly hear him make a noise. Jazz does as well, but you can't hear her as well. Djimat turns around, Jazz puts her head up to have a quick look at where he is. Djimat sits down, about a meter away from Jazz and the baby. Not sure if he's interested in looking at the babies or just trying to sniff her. Dijmat is quite a gentle giant, where male Orangutans normally like to be solitary he enjoys the company of his new family. Jazz wiggles her foot in front of Djimat's face.
When Jazz gets up, she has both the babies on one side but then moves on to each teat. Jim is on her right and Joe is on her left. I'll let you savour the moments of Jazz looking at her baby and her grandchild. Djimat still there looking at her and the babies.
When Jazz turned her back to the camera a bit later, Djimat approached her again. Sits in front of the three. He really does seem to be interested in the babies.
Sprout is a couple of meters away. Djimat has a couple of yawns and then brushes some dirt off his hair. Jazz is moving a bit closer to him and you can just see a baby's arm and then both the baby's hands holding on to her hair.
Then a side view of Jim, Jazz and Djimat. Jim wants to have a closer look at dad but then he moves. Joe is there as well but he's asleep in Jazze's left arm. Another yawn from the big fellow.

Really, Jazz is a kind mother and devoted grandmother. At this age, even though she has a tired face, she takes good care of her children. This mother is really amazing.👍🤗
Djimat is a gentle father . Jazz is so protective of Her children 💞Jazz is certainly letting Djimat know to be careful with the babies. The footage of everyone is amazing! This was a lovely video 💙💙💙💜

Orangutangs are so clever and adaptable.. they live solitary lives in the wild, but come together without fuss in captivity. They ‘share’ very well.

@@LindaC616 yes they do… they’re so sweet as a general rule, there’s a quiet grace about them. ☺️.
They are social too in wild but usually just when there is young about.
@@HonestlyAnnaFun thank you. Yes you’re right, I’ve seen some mums allowing interaction of their young, but they live largely solitary lives.
It’s quite sweet to see the babies interacting but it also allows them to know their neighbour or perhaps even meet a future mate.

Jazz is such an amazing mother/grandmother, Sprout was incredibly lucky that her mum stepped in.

That’s exactly what I thought as I was watching it. I also imagined her saying, “How about some grooming help here Dad?” Even though I know they don’t groom one another the way a lot of primates do.
I loved this video!!! I especially loved hearing the sounds of Djimat and Jazz . I could hear them fine…I’m pretty sure I heard one of Djimat’s yawns too. He was so sweet and gentle looking at his babies.♥️♥️♥️

Agreed it's mostly greed. They get hurt because if deforestation or killed because they "trespass" into an orchard or plantation.
It is the male taking an interest in his giving of his female to their babies. The best thing a male can do at this time for about two years. They are our teachers especially harmony with how to raise our young. Spouses and their children -- much to learn from them. I have no difficulty in admiring my betters. Thank you Nature.

They’re not twins, actually. One is Jazz’s son and the other is her grandson. He was born to daughter Sprout who wasn’t quite ready to be a mother. So Supermom Jazz stepped up and decided to raise them both! Pretty miraculous and incredibly selfless, especially at her age!

Actually they’re not twins. One belongs to Jazz, the other was birn to her daughter Sprout. Unfortunately Sprout wasn’t ready to be a mother so Jazz decided to raise them both as her sons even though one is actually her grandson. They are also half brothers because this male is father to them both.

I was wondering as well, I'm guessing it's a display towards Dad like " caution, babies on board" or similar. I do voluntary service to orangutans couple times a yr and I havent seen this display yet ... anyone care to chime in?
