Orangutan Adopt Siamangs Baby Monkey

  • Orangutans spend most of their lives in trees forests in Sumatra and Borneo. They get their food from the trees, and they build nests in the branches to sleep in. Their long arms help them swing from tree to tree. They use their hands and feet to grab and hold tree branches and food. Orangutans are very smart. They sit under leafy branches for protection from rain and sun, and sometimes even put a very large leaf on their head like a rain hat!
Siamangs are arboreal inhabitants of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatran rain and monsoon forests. Their distinguishing feature is a large throat sac that they use to make socially important vocalizations. These primates are endangered due to illegal pet trade and habitat loss.

I love how the monkey mom trusts the orang with her baby! Female orangs are the best moms and love all babies - including human!

The youngster is not a monkey, it's a lesser ape.

Don't bother to explain to some people because they likely have tails.

That's so sweet. I hope that girl has her own baby one day. Orangs are great mothers.

Beautiful. This wonderful orangutan is the perfect babysitter for the little one. I just adore orangutans. They make me smile. ❤️ It breaks my heart that their habitat is being destroyed and so many babies are orphaned.

Lets not talk about that, ok? The mother being shot out of a tree, the baby torn from its mothers dying arms, while the offenders walk out scott-free from a forest being razed by the day...yea, that...

@@jonaswhite5842 Once again you just dramatize and scandalize a situation to draw attention to yourself. Is there something wrong with you? Do you need professional help? Do you really care about orangutans or do you just use the subject to feed your need for attention?

This is pure, innocent, heartfelt love and caring!! How wonderful that the moms trust each other enough for the Orang to play with that tiny, curious baby!! Most wonderful thing I’ve seen in a while!! 🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘💕💕💕

Something similar happened at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo, where a young white-cheeked gibbon used to visit the orangutan exhibit to play with a youngster there. And FYI, siamangs are apes, not monkeys (they are in the gibbon family).

This is actually common. For some reasons, Orangs and Gibs are GREAT friends in captivity.

What a sweet, special bond between the orangutan and young gibbon. She is so gentle with the infant, and you can watch their friendship/relationship grow as the two get older. The young gibbon actually pushes it's sibling/father (?) away while playing, preferring to spend time with their orangutan nanny! The hug towards the end of the video is just beautiful, you can literally see the affection. Truly wondrous!

It's so sweet how the orangutan seems aware that this is a baby, so gentle, so careful! Even though it's a completely different species, there's such a sense of empathy between these primates.

I so enjoyed their interaction, it was funny and the tenderness shown to the baby was very considered by the orangutang. The mothers trust was very telling into the nature and relationships.

Unfortunately, you are correct. The orangutan is now too humanized to know how to care for a baby. If it does have a baby, it will have to be raised by the selfish humans who intentionally created the situation for the animal to be impregnated.
