Essentially, Saints Row at the start of it's series was compared to GTA. By the time SR3 was released, THQ took the game in a different direction with "More fun, less mercy killing" as by then the Saints were in charge of a multi-million dollar corporation, they'd become a name-brand instead of just a street gang. SR4 the Saints were so big, not too mention skilled, that due to the Boss(player character) helping to prevent a nuke from destroying the US, is elected the President. Saints Row, it's whole evolution to SR4, is THQ trying to get out of GTA's shadow and to become it's own thing. SR3 was the start of that change, and it's issues weren't hammered out until SR4 when it became almost non-comparable to GTA. Hell, now GTA is mimicking Saints Row. Don't believe me? Think about it; Grand Theft Auto Online is one of the only GTA games that has you make your own original character from the ground up, who is silent through-out the whole game, doing down-right insane shit(heists from banks, military bases, etc). And with the DLC that lets you become CEO of your own major business, which competes with other player CEOs by stealing their products, stand-offs ending with RPGs fired at one another as attack choppers are flying overhead. Saints Row can't be compared to GTA in it's current form, not without some serious reaching. And it's become so iconic that now other games are taking ques from the series to make their games better. But that doesn't mean the first two games aren't good. It's a series anyone(at a reasonable age) can pick up and play, where there are diverse options of which game you can play.

Man the story for this game blew me away with it's quality and realism. My first introduction to the series was 2 and while I like it I still think the original is the best in the series hands down. They had an allstar voice acting cast that I still don't think has been beaten till this day. Whats crazy is they've had the same lead writer since the 1st game it's insane.
When you complete an arc not only do you get a bunch of cool shit but you also get the reward of hearing your character speak. Its actually a really cool take on the silent character type
that wasn't all the cutscenes. he missed a whole other line of missions and dialogue, plus the fact that the protagonist has FOUR lines of dialogue, not three.

I think both sides are right on the old vs new in the saints row series. I loved the grounded and sorta weirdness of saints row 1 and 2. But I also love. The crazy over the top from saints row 3 and 4. Can I we all agree there is something to enjoy from each of these games?

Let's get back to more how the series was, I wanna see different gangs and all and stories behind em. Let's have action that kinda reminds us of a Quentin Tarantino film and Fast and Furious.. Which the whole crew in the F&F movies kinda reminded me of the Saints anyway, just the way they'd all behave together and all. Customization in the last games were lame as hell.. Hopefully they take inspiration from APB Reloaded and Black Desert online (which is coming to PS4 too- BDO is). Let's not have a ton of clothing stores, all with the same crap in em, and let us be able to enter some buildings, just redefine the whole sand box experience, the way Call of Duty did FPS, and the way the Division will do TPS. Let's have the character learn gun-arts, and martial arts instead of super powers, which also completely made vehicles useless, as well as crew members lol.
I’d love to see this game with a full remake. New models, new cars, new sounds. Everything looking less blocky and more realistic. But still the classic gameplay. I also hope They bring back online, and not just co-op.
So let me get this straight. The powers that be remake bullshit like "Deadpool" and yet quality games like Saints Row 1, 2 and 3 go by the wayside. At the very least they could bring back Saints Row 1 seeing how it never saw the light of day outside of the Xbox 360.

Let's get back to more how the series was, I wanna see different gangs and all and stories behind em. Let's have action that kinda reminds us of a Quentin Tarantino film and Fast and Furious.. Which the whole crew in the F&F movies kinda reminded me of the Saints anyway, just the way they'd all behave together and all.
Customization in the last games were lame as hell.. Hopefully they take inspiration from APB Reloaded and Black Desert online (which is coming to PS4 too- BDO is). Let's not have a ton of clothing stores, all with the same crap in em, and let us be able to enter some buildings, just redefine the whole sand box experience, the way Call of Duty did FPS, and the way the Division will do TPS. Let's have the character learn gun-arts, and martial arts instead of super powers, which also completely made vehicles useless, as well as crew members lol.

I’d love to see this game with a full remake. New models, new cars, new sounds. Everything looking less blocky and more realistic. But still the classic gameplay. I also hope They bring back online, and not just co-op.

So let me get this straight. The powers that be remake bullshit like "Deadpool" and yet quality games like Saints Row 1, 2 and 3 go by the wayside. At the very least they could bring back Saints Row 1 seeing how it never saw the light of day outside of the Xbox 360.
