Basic Plot of Saints Row 4: Kill Aliens and take over simulated Steelport. if they didn't change the genre, then we would just get the same thing over and over again. if they kept Saints Row the same, it would get repetitive which would make it boring.

That's why they should've stopped after the second one. All they did was pretty much drag the series into a hole. They could've used the same ideas in 3 and 4, but as a different franchise. Not change up the theme of the original Saints Row. The problem with Saints Row now is that it feels like a totally different game, but it's not. Going from gangs, to government organizations, to literally being elected POTUS, to aliens destroying the earth and being stuck in a damn simulation. Pretty drastic fucking change that nobody asked for.
Saints Row is a gangster franchise. Each of the game's story was different. New characters we cared about were killed each game. Side missions were actually thought out in the first two. It's not about the same game. You can't call every GTA game the same. Stupid argument

The saints in the 1st and 2nd games were like an actual gang rather than hyped up superheroes. Also why the fuck are the Saints (a supposed criminal organisation) signing autographs? What happened to being a stone cold killer like in 1 and 2? Why did Shaundi go from a stoner who gets the gang places by fucking people to a massive psycho who just wants to shoot everything? Why did most of the main character deaths in 3 and 4 need to be offscreen? Carlos from the 2nd game was only there to introduce you to the game before he was killed off and his death was way more memorable than Gat who had been in it from the start yet his death didnt mean fuck all to most the people who saw it. Saying the games are the same is like saying Resident Evil 1 is the same as 6. Just because its gangs and shooting dont really make it a saints row game. Oh and why the fuck did the gangs need to be fought in order rather than having a separate story for each gang and how would a gang get access to space age genetic modifications? The old story just got dumped on its ass with 3. Dex never gets mentioned in 3 or 4 nor is Troy or Ultor. Infact the only resemblance to the 1st 2 games ive seen is the Vice Kings mission in 4 which looks stupid short and just feels awkward. In comparison 3 and 4 really are a shadow of what saints row used to be.

Second game: Great, but dark story, excellent voice acting. Third game: More color and weapons are now upgradeable. Also, Zimos. Final game: Most unique of the series. Sharp writing is back, too. Just wish it had metal music.
