    Natural Cleanser
The purpose of a shampoo is to cleanse your scalp from excess oils, product build up and dead skin cells. So you do need to have a cleansing agent!
African Black Soap is an all natural soap made from locally harvested plants native to Africa such as plantain, cocoa pods & palm tree leaves. They’re sun-dried and roasted which gives the soap its rich colour. Water & oils like shea butter and coconut oil are added and the soap is left to cure. And that’s all that’s in it!
Pure Black Soap is made mostly in West Africa. It’s has a deep brown colour, with a marbling effect - and is soft and crumbly, not like regular commercial soap.
It’s known for having healing benefits and has been used to relieve many skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis & acne. Traditional black soap doesn’t contain any chemicals and is usually made from only a couple ingredients.
Try to buy authentic black soap from sites that source from local communities and are fair trade! It’s a natural produce of West African countries and it’s important to support the communities where possible!
    pH Balance
The pH level of your shampoo is very important when it comes to the health of your hair.
pH is a scale of how acidic something is. When it comes to skin care, products that are too acidic or too alkaline can be extremely irritating to the skin and can even cause a burning sensation. Whilst your skin is a living organ so it can balance itself back to a healthier pH over time - your hair cannot. Hair can’t repair itself or heal from damage resulting from products that are too acidic or too alkaline. So it is extremely important to make sure the pH is correct in the products you use.
Your scalp’s pH is around 5.5 (acidic), so using products with a pH between 5 - 7 is best for most people.

I have been told so many times that African black soap shampoo does not need a preservative because of the alkaline. It won’t allow anything to grow in it. mold etc. cant live it. However Listening to this, it’s been to be safe than sorry. Plus there are natural preservatives we can use. Thank you for being so Informative. I love watching and learning from your videos

Hi! I love the 2ay you do your videos and the way you explain everything, I love love love that!
I have tried this recepy but my a
Hair turned extremally oily. I basically pores the mix onto my scalp from a quite big container. Do you think that was the issue? I also used not peppermint but another essential oil instead.

    • @theresachorinsky563
      @theresachorinsky563 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Unfortunately I had the same issue. I have fine straight hair and the water in my region is quite hard. The result was oily hair that stuck together. The classical result of soap in combination with hard water, eventhough I have used more apple cider vinegar than proposed . 😕
Is there a way of solving the problem? I am thankful for any helpful advice here. 💐

You look great. I try to concentrate the materials for the shampoo. I am Greece and are difficult to import from England. I want to ask if I can add
Oatmeal Colloidal Powder and what analogy? Thank you very much….

How much black soap and water do you use to make the dilute? I tried the recipe, but it left my hair a bit greasy, probably I didn't use enough black soap. I also added a little cetyl alcohol as emulsifier.

Thank you. Not sure if I'm doing it right but I poured lots apple cider vinegar in my shampoo mix and the color barely change. I poured to where there wasn't anymore suds! 😂.

hey , i think this is my new favorite channel ,,, but i wanted to know if the African soap is the same as the moroccan soap or can i use it as an alternative since its not available .

Aww thank so much Aisha! 😊 Moroccan black soap is another all natural soap but instead of plantain leaves, Coco pods & Shea butter (like African Black Soap) it's made mainly from ground olives & olive oil. It has a different texture that's more like a paste than a hard soap but it or any natural soap can be used as a replacement for black soap. I'd melt the soap down with water and then add the rest of the ingredients, you can check the pH level and adjust to make sure it's within range but other than that it will work really well. Hope that helps 😊💚

Elise, I would like a creamier consistency. I have some BTMS 50. If I use that, how much should I add? Also, for a thicker density, do you suggest using Guar or Xanthan gum. If so, how much? Thank you!

If I use guar gum as a thickener how would you suggest adding, without clumps???

    • @WholeElise

Hi hun, I'd use Xantham gum to thicken it, mix it with the glycerine first and then add it to the shampoo after the rest of the ingredients 😊

Do you know of a substitute for black soap? You mentioned shea and I double checked the ingredients and it does definitely does have shea in it. I'm allergic to it and possibly to Jojoba based on reading about it. Would be grateful.
