I asked my second surgeon about laser assisted surgery and said he could do it, it would cost more, and in my case offer no benefits. I love doctors who treat you like an adult and give you the straight facts.
Thanks for sharing!
As someone with mild cataracts (have to come out soon), pseudoexfoliation syndrome, glaucoma suspect (pseudoexfoliation?), Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy, and lord knows what other as yet to be discovered pathologies, I am amazed at your ability to present very complex eye pathologies and surgeries into something that can be pretty easily be understood by the layman. Your presentation skills are the best. Please do not stop.
I had laser-assisted cataract surgery which helped with my astigmatism. (I no longer need eyeglasses.) The primary reason my ophthalmologist suggested it was that he said that I was extremely far-sighted and because of that the space he had to work with performing the surgery was "smaller" than for a normal lens. He said that the laser's more precise cut would make it easier and safer to remove and replace the lens rather than doing it manually with a blade.

❤❤I wish I had used you 10 years ago for my surgery….
Aw shucks ❤
Thank you Michele
You are so welcome!
Very informative. I wonder if this financing for the difference in cost
Maybe you can do a video on Post Transplant patients and cataract surgery
I'm getting laser cataract surgery on December 13th. I think im ready.
Best of luck with your upcoming surgery!
How did it go, plz?
استغربتُ من عدم الإجابة على سؤال التعليق لإفادة الغير رغم كلمة plz ..
Thank you Michele. I am a pompous idiot who assumed I know everything and after listening to your and few other Dr. , I decided against the laser. Luckily I was smart enough to realize that if I hire the best surgeon I should at least listen to his recommendation. After relistening to you advice I understand why he was adamant about the laser. 👍👍👍
Would you recommend Laser to someone with dense cataracts and pupils that do not dilate fully and why? Would opt for monofocal lens and not to correct mild astigmatism.
Great video ! May I ask how do you manage patients with ADHD, does IV sedation work well ? I'm afraid of moving or not understanding the instructions in time, however, the idea of being under general anesthesia makes me more anxious... Thanks.
Dear ma'am, if posterior capsule is absent, can the IOL be placed in the sulcus ?
hi Dr. Lee😊 are diabetics required to see their blood sugar Doctor first before a cataract surgery cos my opthalmologist only asked me to get clearance from a cardiologist, thank you so much!😍
I would definitely ask your doctor for advice about your specific case. Best of luck with your surgery!
Seems like cornea damage is possible since the machine is shooting a laser through the cornea. Does that ever happen?
Great question. I have not experienced damage to the cornea from this laser since it is very precise but anything is of course possible.
How dangerous is the laser surgery with regards to having it malfunction while ut is being used in a patient? Next, I love the fact that on one if yiur videos you state that an artificial lens will not restore your vision back to when you were 20.
Do you find people with dense cataracts heal more quickly with laser surgery?
Does laser surgery more invasive or cause more trauma to the 70 age patient with diabetes in general? Compare with manual
The length of this video is the amount of time you will spend with the surgeon, if you meet them at all before surgery. When she keeps saying “ask your doctor” she means the attending DO or ophthalmology assistant. A five minute meeting with an OD is considered a LONG discussion, their time is worth so much. A lie by omission is still a lie…
