As a general physician who had cataract surgery lately, I wish every eye care provider to talk to parents in detail as you do. We need and wish to have info from our physicians instead of googling or TH-cam. Because every patient's case is so unique that those sources cannot provide satisfactory on target information.

Thank you Dr. Lee. Not sure if you’ve addressed this yet but would like your thoughts on laser assisted surgery versus manual surgery. Thank you!

Could you please come to New Jersey and open up your practice. You are so knowledgeable and so informative I wish my doctor was closer to me, I am seeing a doctor Dr. David Chu who studied under Dr Foster in Massachusetts for UVitis and he's an ocular immunologist in the entire state of New Jersey there's only two knowledgeable and I appreciate your videos thank you.
My question to you is how do you pick a good cataract surgeon?

I guess that the biggest one is the last one I would like to add and that is RELAX. I just went through the procedure on both eyes the first on 2/29/2024 and the second 3/14/2024. I was given all the info and due to fact I was not a candidate for a premium lens went with the fact I fully accepted the insurance acceptable lens implant. I had extreme far sightedness and of course astigmatism. The new lens in my eyes are great I have never expected the outcome I have had. I been wearing heavy glasses since I was 3-4 years old so over 63 years of those dang heavy things. Today I was in and all I needed was a +2.25 for reading glasses nothing else. The last thing I said to my doctor before he preformed the 2nd operation was "Well let's and rock and roll and get this over".

Thankyou Dr Lee for your informative video. I had my first cataract surgery 13 days ago and the second 7 days ago. I had the distance lens. I always had excellent vision for reading etc but now having had the distant lens i can’t see anything up close or even an intermediary distance. Thank goodness for magnifying glasses. The distance vision is fine. Maybe i was naive but I don’t think the surgeon fully explained how it all was going to work. I’m using Prednisolone drops and Tobrex in each eye, 4 times a day. Is this lack of vision normal? Or do i need to be more patient?

For many operations where general anesthesia is used, the anesthesiologist tapes your eyes shut. Are there precautions they should take? When I came to, it took awhile to get my eye open and I ended up with a painful bloodshot eye. The anesthesiologist thought maybe I scratched it, a nurse (out of his earshot) thought it had to do with the tape, but I notice sometimes when I wake up from sleep that eyelid feels like it wants to stick. (Predates surgery.) Dry eye? Ocular rosacia?
Anyway a video on any of those topics would be interesting.
Thxs for all the good info.

You said dry eyes react differently after cataract surgery which is good to know. However, I worry I might hurt my surgery site when trying to get rid of the itch, grit or eye lash few days after surgery ? Secondly is I tend to sneeze or cough quite hard because of allergies or acid reflux and I read it could affect eye. You also mentioned using Bruder moist eye compress for 5 minutes twice a day. I tried it but it doesn't feel moist. It feels totally dry. Thanks for any advice, suggestions.

Is it allowed go sneeze after the surgery? And what if someone has constipation, that could strain eyes too? Is it allowed to sleep on the back and on the side? I also don’t know how to wash my hair: usually I washed my hair by bending over above the sink. It causes severe dryness of my eyes sometimes as I use Head and Shoulders. I don’t know how people wash their hair. I cannot see myself in shower so I don’t go there and wash my hair in the sink so I can feel it and find shampoos easier. I’m too myopic.

What gives better vision a distance set monofocal with a premium monofocal set more intermediate or a distance monofocal with a multifocal?

Thank you Dr. Lee. I have watched several of your informative videos. Having 1st eye cataract surgery at the end of this month, but the second eye will not be done for 21 days after the first surgery. I have been using preservative-free eyedrops since my cataract eval appointment to assist with any dry eye issues prior to surgery. Any problem you’ve encountered having a 3 week gap between surgeries? The second eye is my WORST eye even with eyeglasses, and I’m concerned about lack of depth perception and falling while my first eye cataract removal surgery is healing.😊

Thanks for sharing. The in-between period between the two eyes can be difficult but hang in there. I hope your second eye goes well and that you recover your depth perception ❤

I don't know what the term "your refractive goals" means. I cannot use it in a sentence. I have no idea what you are talking about, other than it involves something regarding my eye, I THINK. No one, not even you -- and you are the best -- has explained this or other such terms, and this is not something people talk about in any conversation I've ever heard. I am days away from cataract surgery. I hope you don't think I'm being ugly, I don't mean it that way. Apparently my doctor should have explained this, but 'they' haven't. Any quick response would be greatly appreciated.

My doctor asked if I wanted to see close or far. I chose mine for distance and wear bifocals for close. I had a very strong prescription and I just wanted to be able get out of bed and see.

There is so much on the news about over the counter eye drops causing infection. How should we select one for dry eyes?

    • @MicheleLeeMD
      @MicheleLeeMD  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Most big stores should have already pulled anything recalled but be careful about anything you buy online. Right now I would stay away from generic store brands (like CVS, Target's Up and Up, etc.) and go with brand names like Systane, Refresh, etc.

You mentioned in an earlier video that you can now get eye drops to help slow or prevent cataract surgery. Can you do a video on that? What eye drops do you recommend?
