      I guess you already have a good topic of horror game channel and really good sounding mic but maybe talk to the audience more like more personal talk and also you could cut to special moments or moments that you are just grinding. If there are moments where you are just walking around to find something, add some cuts and edits in it as well.
      Finally, stick to one game since you wanna build a core audience first that likes that game, which they will eventually grow to like you as a creator and they will begin to stick to whatever horror game you play. Diversifying more and more until your audience recognizes you as a personality and not some YT channel that's "just there." If you upload a lot of different horror games at the same time especially right now, YT algorithm gets kinda confused and so do a lot of people.
      One reason why popular people can already play different games is because the algorithm favors how they type the channel name in the search box. For instance, if i wanted to watch some CoryXKenshin, i would type "coryxkenshin" in the search box. Due to the fact that the term "coryxkenshin" is a very high volume keyword, and he uses it, he almost always gets ranked first in the search feed. And because he has grown such a large audience over the years by sticking to topics and not diversifying immediately, a lot of people search for his name. Not "FNAF lets play" but "coryxkenshin" because they want him to play, not others. So try to build a core audience first, then maybe people start searching your name and not the video game you are playing. That's when things start to get good.
      I analyze channels who seem to be struggling so that I can apply what I've learnt to my videos, and you should try this out too. Helps me a lot and I have now a better knowledge of how I should create content. So maybe try this a little bit.

      @@Kino-Imsureq I really appreciate you taking the time to write out such a lengthy in depth reply. I have noticed that I bounce from game to game a lot to the point where I don't think I've even finished a playthrough yet. Im still learning how to edit as well. One of the things Nick said in the video really stuck with me too about fitting TH-cam in to my schedule. I have a full time job and kids so finding time is a chore in itself. Thanks for the advice. Im gonna definitely put some of that into practice.

    • @Kino-Imsureq
      @Kino-Imsureq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drewkatz2516 oh yeah definitely understandable especially with a full time job and kids. But yeah just focus on one game and then when you finish that game completely then move on to something similar. Each game has an audience and you need some time for that audience to find you, so that you can bring that audience to future videos. If a train keeps switching terminals then no one rides it but if it stays there for a little while then it is fairly populated. Of course nothing can really represent a TH-cam career metaphorically but for now i think that is good enough. Stay in 1 game then once you're finished, go to the next game, etc.
      Meanwhile yes i also have to put these stuff into practice. Especially my monotonous voice haha.

    Good advice Nick. One thing I'd add would be to establish relationships with other content creators in your niche.
    When I decided to start my #leadership channel I made sure I reached out to others in a similar position and now we have a community of around 15 that gets together regularly, bounces feedback off each other and talk about basically everything. We also keep ourselves going when motivation gets low. In short - it's been essential and highly motivating.

    • @Kino-Imsureq
      @Kino-Imsureq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CoachCommerce In your most popular video "Mail Drop Box Sizes & Dimensions for FedEx, UPS, and USPS Post Office" you could've condensed all that information in 1 minute. Try not to say filler phrases like "alright guys," "so we're gonna," "lets go," "so," etc. Also maybe some music and you don't need to show us the process of measuring and then give an answer. Instead you can use that video footage of you measuring as B-Roll which goes alongside your voiceover of the measurements.
      I watched "How to VOID or Cancel a Shipping Label on eBay!" and the hook was alright and intro was very short so that's good. However in 0:17 and 0:42 you say "and in this video i'm gonna show you how" and "and im actually gonna go ahead and show you how to do that right now." This is redundant since it's pretty much the same idea what you said in the beginning "...then this is the video for you!" Value the viewers' time and if you see something that could be cut out without ruining the flow of ideas and information then you must cut it out. Especially when it's within the first minute of the video. That's like 7 seconds lost pretty much. And attention spans usually only handle 8 seconds (not statistical but its a good estimate).
      Throughout the rest of this video there are some phrases that were either dead obvious or you should've just cut out anyway since it's not really helping to solve the problem. This doesn't mean you should speed yourself up 2x and cut out random portions of your video but it also means that you have to practice the way you edit.
      Otherwise good job on 1k subs but now you must continue to work better and better. And it's good that you are keeping up with social engagements in your comment section too.
      I am analyzing many people's channels so that I know what is good and what is bad. You should probably dedicate a day or two as well to do this, its very fun and insightful and I have a lot of notes now.

    Keeping a journal of your progress (like a physical book you write in with a pen) is also an invaluable tip I found. Making full length videos that people want to watch all the way can be intimidating, a 10 minute video with some level of just basic editing can take a minimum of 48 hours to produce, even for a pro. So if you only have time to make "Shorts" just focus on that until you're comfortable enough to upload the real thing.

      The awesome thing about TH-cam is that you don’t need a viral video. You only need videos that consistently get views over time.

    Right on the mark again, nick. Your stuff is always fantastic. One thing I'd like to. Mention for those reading the comments (and please don't take it like an attack. It's meant as a helpful critique that I struggle with myself from time to time). I see this a lot in the live streams.... Not so much in these types of videos, but something helpful anyways. Always look inward.... Always come off as your own west critic. If you see a thumb you don't click in your niche, ask yourself why. Then apply that to yourself. Repeat that for thumbs, descriptions, and the content. What makes you gain and lose interest. More often times than not, they will be the same reasons that other people do the same on your content. We all tend to look at our own stuff with rose colored glasses. I had to learn to embrace that, and now I pretty much know how each video is going to do. Initially before I make it based on the the topic... Don't worry about the other ones, often times those will pick up also as your fan base increases. The only other thing to really mention is to pay attention in live streams... If you want a review and don't get one, you can do 2 things... You can either wtch the reviews and answered questions and apply those to what you are doing, learn and pivot, or you can complain about not getting picked and spam the chat about lord knows what. Whne you do that, you are not listening to Great information that can help you more than you can imagine. That's how you grow... TH-cam doesn't hate you. Love ya guys! Go kill it!

    OOH. I never thought about taking screenshots of titles. That's a brilliant idea. I also take note of things that people do on videos that I don't like. Like when people's videos don't line up with the title.

    Thanks for the inspiration Nick. I was using YT inconsistently in 2020-2021. I have accumulated 1400 subscribers currently and I need about 3000 hours of watch time to get monetized. I literally didn't do anything this year and accumulated subscribers. I have valuable content but I stopped making videos. This inspires me to restart this YT journey!

    I don't make my videos towards any other goal besides making friends in my Hobby. Because I live in the middle of the sticks. I've gained friends. I make what they ask.

    I consider it a win.

    I am the founder of a nonprofit for children with Down syndrome, during Covid we turned to TH-cam as a way to make educational videos for our students. Your videos have by far been the most helpful. Thank for helping me to serve my students and now families all over the Country. I have a long way to go to make our channel what I hope it will be. So I will be watching all your videos. Probably more than once. I really had no idea what I was doing when I started. I could not have done it without your help. Thank you!

    As always….you are spot on! It took me a year to get to 1K subscribers not knowing what I was doing. But I didn’t give up, and like you said, I kept experimenting, and making little changes then looking at the analytics and seeing what worked. So, I was able to make it to 2K subscribers in 6 months…and with some additional tweaking…I’m on track to get to 3k in about 3 months. Don’t give up, and never be afraid to learn something new, make changes and see what works! ☺️💙

    As far as quitting . . . I worked on this channel for a year and learned a lot. I realized picking a true niche would ruin the fun so I started another channel to do that. Pivoting isn't quitting so don't try to "just work harder" on something that obviously isn't working.
