      Hi Nick! Your content is exellent and really high value, but I have an unique question.
      I started my adventure as an youtuber not long time ago, and Im taking it seriously. The thing is, Im uploading videos regularly and want to grow my channel, but I dont want to become full time youtuber, whos main income comes from yt.
      Is it possible to maintain chanel growht only with part-time dedication to it, and if so, should people like me use other strategies to maintain their chanel development?
      I hope there is a hope! 😃

    Good luck to anyone starting a channel! My advice is to stay patient. I gave up too soon on my channel due to poor performance, but thinking back, I really regret it

      @hatchali6765 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just saw some of your stuff, why did you give up? get yourself a good used microphone and your good to go

    • @TechReview2000
      @TechReview2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hatchali6765 You are right, I shouldn't have quit. I gained about 160 subscribers in the first 3 weeks, which I felt was very slow (after seeing the analytics of big content creators. Above that, my friend's channel gained almost twice of my sub count in a single day). I also spent so much time and effort on my videos (especially the drop tests), which got very expensive and was unsustainable given the fact that my channel didn't pull in nearly enough views to pay it back. Even if I was monetized, spending over $500 on drop tests would not pay back unless I got over 500,000 views. I ended up getting 300 views. - This is why I got very discouraged and quit. As I found out more about the platform, I realized that this channel really could have had potential. Maybe I'll consider restarting although my few subscribers probably don't even remember me anymore

    I have a question, because we interview many guests throughout the entertainment industry from actors, artists, athletes & authors, can that be a theme that works where it is just entertainment focused? We have a couple video ideas we will be starting in the next 2-4 weeks that also involve entertainment in general. Can this theme work on a broad scale? We love all the interviews we do. Our tagline is up close & personal. We love to hear the raw stories of the guests throughout entertainment, their triumphs and struggles in chasing their entertainment dream.

    Thank you Nick for taking the time to produce quality videos that are enjoyable to watch. I took two pages of notes. I try to take two days out of the week to "skill up" so I really connected with your emphasis on this topic. I registered my TH-cam channel, Path of Prophecy in the summer of 2020 and finally started downloading my sermons for content in September 2021. I now have 32 subscribers. I'm really enjoying this way of doing gospel ministry. Thank again for your work!!!

    I already have a clear idea of who I'm trying to reach with the type of content I make. It's just the matter of being motivated to make videos. As of late, I've been stuck in this vicious cycle of not feeling the need to make videos, and it slows down the activity on my channel. I haven't posted in almost 2 months, and I wish there was a way for me to become more motivated. I really do appreciate the tips, however. So thanks for sharing these with us, Nick :)

    One thing I've been considering is making a second gaming channel on top of my first. I rarely see gaming creators do this.

    • @Cowsep
      @Cowsep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tons of people do this. From the League of Legends scene alone at the top of my head:
      I did it (cowsep gaming), Zwag TC did it (Zwag Xerath), Pianta did it (Piantwo), Heizman did it, GamingCurios did it, Bunnyfufuu did it, as well as others I'm sure I'm forgetting.
      I imagine other games have tons more people that do it. Its a good idea because it keeps your content consistent but you don't want to get burnt out.

    Targeting my audience is my number one issue. I have no idea who my target audience is nor do I really understand exactly how to determine who that is nor do I know how to specifically target a particular type of viewer, mainly because I don’t know who I am even trying to reach.

      Seems like a simple question but it’s not. 90% of my views come from non-subscribers. So I’m trying to figure out the same thing. Who is it that watched 4 of my videos in a row the other night but has no interest in subbing?

    • @unclemick-synths
      @unclemick-synths 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The key question is what are YOU passionate about? If you're not truly interested in the topic, it will show and people won't connect.

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The target audience is the reason you make content - it is who you make content for. You decide who that is and make content for them, Your content doesn't lead you to them, your target person/audience leads you to the right content to create. Making content randomly around a loose idea only leads to mixed results.

    I think that one of the most important things for a successful video is the topic. If there is low demand for a topic, but also very low amounts of videos posted about this topic, it seems to make it easier for small TH-cam accounts to gain larger views. I feel this way because one of my videos (about a drum speaker) gained 2.3k more views than average. This had the same thumbnail type and titling method, but the keywords and topic was different. - And as a small channel, I averaged around 300 views. Has anyone else also experienced such a dramatic view boost from a certain topic?

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct, topic is a HUGE factor.

  • @lashaysmith7783
    @lashaysmith7783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I think my biggest problem is trying to have it all together before actually posting a video. I literally went out and purchased a business binder to keep myself organized and have a clear schedule of what I'll be filming and when, I've created my thumbnails already as well as my channel banner, researching sponsorships and brand deals that relate to my niche. The list goes on. I think I've stressed myself out. I don't want to say I take it too serious because it is serious but I need to loosen up. I know you mentioned don't go into with a "I'll see what happens mentality" but I might need to so I can relax a bit. Still watching your videos and taking notes :-)

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Start publishing. If you know the type of content you want to make start doing it. The best way to learn is by doing the thing. Every day you wait to start is a day longer it’s going to take you to reach your goals. Planning is important but taking action is most important.

      Once you have done that..
      Binge watch...
      Some bits might be a bit cringey but nothing drastic...
      Then upload it all and set unpublished... Leave a day.. for YT to look at them..
      Then publish max 3 a day...
      With a few held back to keep you ahead...
      Put together your playlists etc...
      And most importantly..
      Have fun....

      Also before you start uploading...
      Set up YT using a non public email address..
      and get.. IG, (IG is useful for people to contact you) FB, Twitter etc all in same channel name.. including a public email in same name this is for contacting suppliers etc....

      I agree with both responses Darlin, I've been thinking, doing all the other stuff, and posted 2 "test" videos and became frozen...honestly, JUST START TODAY... my biggest hang up became having all the gear, then how long it takes for make up hair, BUT after now months and over a year of research, I can tell you this...
      I should of just used my phone, did the thumbnails, and banner and went, daily, weekly , whatever. Monetization will come, just POST... I really struggled with my editing and wanted to be like these top folks.. so I finally...just hired a fun VA for my editing ..done...he gets the direction I am going, and now finally after "watching 1000 yt videos" and DL every new software I saw someone use...for get it....JUST POST.... I am finally regrettably starting my channel in 1 week, with the help I needed, and SHOULD OF JUST POSTED 18 mos. Ago...do it girl you got this

    I still struggle to decide the path of my channel. The old stuff gets the views but hasn't converted viewers into buyers. The new content has a better chance of generating money (aside of AdSense) but I'm not getting the views.

    Spot on as always Nick. Agree 100% with everything you said - especially the "why am I waving my hands over here off the screen?" 🤣😅 That gave me a good chuckle this morning. The more I put your knowledge to work in my channel, the better I succeed. Thank you.

    Idk why but the "I am the niche" part made me laugh so hard 😂
    This is definitely the main reason my previous 6 channels failed lol took a long time to learn.

    Hi Nick! So I post cooking videos, but 1-3 times a year I go on vacation and do silent vlogs and film the food I eat and the activities I do, besides that it’s all cooking videos. Would you say that uploading 2 out of 52 videos that are travel related is being out of niche? I’ve been really wondering lol, thanks for your help 😃

    Ways you can destroy your channel;
    1. How you think about TH-cam.
    2. Not thinking about about your audience.
    3. Not working on your skills to improve.
    4. Not having a theme(niche)
