  • Tutorial on how to install forged Marchesini wheels from a Panigale V4R onto a Panigale V2. Going from the factory cast wheels to the forged Marchesini wheels results in a net weight loss of about 2.5 lbs in rotational mass despite the rear tire being larger.

    Funny you mention the V2 (and base V4) wheels have a "Japanese look" - turns out they are made by Enkei, a Japanese company. I only just found this out the other day, since i had my wheels removed to be powdercoated. Right there on the front wheel spoke is the "ENKEI" embossing. Seems odd to me that Ducati would get a Japanese company to supply wheels, but there you go.

      Haha all good! Still good info for somebody who might just be reading the comments and not watching the whole video.

    Awesome video man, did you use the spacers from the v2 wheels or the v4???

      I used all the hardware from the V2 wheels. The only thing I carried over from the V4 were the bearings. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!

    Hi how did you get over the 5 mm offset
    As I have just done the same thing
    And there is a 5 mm offset

    So how does that 200 feel compared to the 180??

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It feels about the same. I don’t feel much difference, but at the same time I don’t track this bike or try to push its limits on the street.

    What's a good site to get aftermarket wheels for our bikes? I want to swap to some forged myself, but don't know who is reputable to purchase from. Car world we run HREs and they don't make bike stuff haha

      I just got these Marchesini’s off of eBay. I also see them pop up on Ducati forums every so often. Beyond that; if you want some BST’s or Marchesini magnesium wheels you should probably hit up Moto million.

    Any diffs btw 180 and 200? I’m also looking at 200 for my v2 but worried this changes its balance

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t notice anything drastic but I also don’t track the bike. For just normal riding, I didn’t notice anything significant. If you are a very experienced rider that notices every little change with the handling characteristics, I’m sure you will notice.

    • @Brrrrr11
      @Brrrrr11 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yh don’t think that’s a big deal either.
      What about Marchesini forged? thought Oem to Forged won’t reduce enough weight but rear ohlins n oz forged are top of my list

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Brrrrr11 it’s not a huge difference weight difference going to Marchesini’s, but it is definitely lighter than the stock Enkei’s. Any weight you take off the wheels of course will be rotational and unsprung which makes a bigger difference than getting weight from other places on the bike.

    If you can fit a 190/55 tyre...do it.... There is absotuterly no need to use a 200 tyre on a 180 tyre spec motorcycle. From any aspect!

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can fit a 190 on 6” wide wheel obviously the profile changes when doing so. I’ll leave the 200 as it’s the factory spec for these wheels. The v4 runs a 200. Don’t think it’ll be an issue here either.

    • @Balafoutre
      @Balafoutre ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ridewithKY sure you can try it....but there are absolutely no positives on this change. Only negatives. Except the weight loss from the wheels and thats it.

    • @ridewithKY

      I’ve had it like this for months. No issues.

    Is the v2 wheel 5.5” and the v4 6.0”?

    • @danielbarber2677
      @danielbarber2677 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's correct

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The base v4 has the same wheels as the v2. It’s the v4S and R that have the Marchesini’s which are 6” wide.

    • @kenearllee
      @kenearllee 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So v4 wheels are 5.5 inch aswell?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven’t been able to find good info on this. I’ve researched and some say the wheel is exactly the same (V2 and base V4), others say it looks the same but the width is different. I think the best way to know is have the dealer look up the part numbers on the rear wheel.

    • @daytonasayswhat9333
      @daytonasayswhat9333 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ridewithKY I don’t think that’s correct. I think every 1000 bike runs a 6 inch wheel.

    You should weigh them without the tires.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally yes, kinda… It would really be best to weigh them completely stripped. No bearings or anything. But it’s not practical to do that in this context.

    • @daytonasayswhat9333
      @daytonasayswhat9333 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ridewithKY no, if you just took the tires off and weighed them, it would be apples to apples

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s wrong, but whatever you say.
