I understand peoples apprehension to the controller/console approach (btw PoE alreayd exists and can be played on controller on console now) and the change to slower gameplay; it is a different direction yes and that of course means an increased risk of diehard fans not liking PoE2. Really though, PoE whatever your opinion of it been a big influence on the rise of the worst kind ARPG's, the seizure inducing hold down finger, big numbers farming intensive mobile trash and my god there is a lot of that now. Point is I feel like the changes made for PoE2 make sense on their own and refocus ARPG's onto being a game about, you know, enjoying the actual game, not the BIS chasing, economic focused, dopamine skinner box that everything else now is. I hope that they manage to prove that you can have both, real, interactive gameplay and a meaningful amount of repeatable endgame content. It is just hopeful for me to see a new, influential game being directed towards more FUN and less manipulative progression to "trick" people into investing time into the game that will then convince them to spend WAY too much money on useless cosmetics. Sure, it may be less profitable but that is exactly what is great to see, not a clearly mask off single minded intention behind the game, some actual creativity and love.
one thing I really criticized about PoE was the lack of skills used. Like you said, you make one ability super strong and everything else is just a support for it. I am really liking the slow paced thought out gameplay where you are using your whole arsenal of abilities to take down targets. This is more of what I wanted to see and why I havent touched path of exile in the past 3ish years now. Last Epoch has been my go to for awhile now, but im looking forward to jumping into poe 2 when it comes to EA!
Is the Druid a subclass of one of the classes you mentioned? 1/2 of my hype for PoE2 was finding out what their interpretation of one of my favorite power fantasies would be. I would be incredibly disappointed if they aren't releasing the game with them in it, or gating it behind some later patch.
Druid will not be available on early access launch. However, since both Druid and Huntress have been shown off and are displayed on the official website, I would guess those will be the first classes to be added during EA. And they are not "gating" classes behind a patch, they are simply not polished to GGG's standards yet. What was shown off for Druid and Huntress was before WASD movement was introduced. I imagine WASD is especially resource-consuming to implement for the various shape shifting forms of the Druid due to the required animation overhauls.
will wait and see if it really is slimed down parts in compairison to poe1, because that was just way to much. and if so i will try it out. it looks really nice. im also looking for a good campaign because thats more or less the reason i played diablo. but d4 has let me down tbh
I think the spammy combo style with no CDs will actually have an addition to a min maxy gameplay for top tier players. Especially for group content. the game can have much harder content. A higher skill cap even.
Same for me after a 4 year break, diablo 4 got me back After Season 5 and now i Need more deep mechanics again und PoE 2 is exactly what i needed ! Wish you a good time !
Also about bosses with phases and time-wasting mechanics, I totally hate those in PoE 1. If PoE 2 is going to be more like that, my hype is quickly dying out.
PoE isnt complicated its just extremely bloated. The passive tree isnt complicated you just need to go for the nodes you need to increase you damage or defense. the skill system is stupid and always has been but PoE2 is looking to fix this. Almost all builds end up being 1 or 2 button.... making it simpler than diablo 4.
just have fun, thats all. make your character, brick it, see what you did wrong, repeat. maybe you got stuck in first 5 acts, then you will be stuck on last 10 acts, then you stcuk in early maps, then you stuck in late maps. is all a process of learning, while you have fun. sure watch guides will help, and follow a build will get you easy for free at tier13 14 of maps. but when you try put your gear that you pick up that will brick your character, thats why is a process of learning.
I find it weird when people say class doesn’t matter considering the ascendancy is really important for the builds, and ascendancy are locked to classes. So????
Only thing I think I really disagree with is 'Warriors being about slams' kind of stuff. The Marauder is still around, just not in early access so far. I think Warriors will be based more around fairly 'trained' type skills, while slams are about barbarianism, which is Marauder, straight up. Plus, aren't there spears? Maybe the Warrior will be kinda skewed towards that weapon, like the Mercenary seems pushed towards the crossbow.
"80% of the players in POE2 will not be players fron POE1 and most of these new players will be on console".....Ummmm.....that does NOT sound good. Matter of fact, it sounds like Diablo 4 vs Diablo 2.
D4 really fell flat for me and I never could get into POE but I’m going to give POE 2 a shot to see if it wins me over. I’m excited, may even take a day off for release if we believe that servers will hold and it will be playable day one.
DM as a Dad Diablo player is PoE2 like unapproachable, or is it manageable? The skill tree and builds seem sorta intimidating but it looks fun! (Note: didn't play PoE1)
@@dmdiablo4 Who said anything like that? What's with the hostility? I'm sorry I don't want to spend 500 hours on third party websites reading tutorials and build guides to even begin to understand a freaking *video game.* They're just not that important to my life.
Can someone explain to me whats the point of ‘classes’ if i can choose say a sorceress and end up using an axe to use a warrior skill??? Did i get that right? wtf lol. How does this game work
You could just make a weak “generic warrior” through witch, or be creative and make a build that triggers spells through axe attacks and makes intelligent use of the witch mechanics for defense and buffing. With PoE it’s all about player expression and creativity, it’s awesome. You will see a lot of meta builds that play with these “different class than expected” concepts!
- In POE 1 currently you have ascendancies. Basically sub-classes, each class has access to 3, and they generally favor a specific style of play. For example, the Witch has Necromancer, a minion based sub class, Occultist with more access to curses and chaos type damage, and Elementalist, focused on elemental damage and ailments. Not sure if it will be the case for POE2 yet. - All classes share the same passive tree, however each class starts at a different spot. A warrior for example will start much closer to axe/mace boosting passive points compared to a witch or a ranger. This doesn’t mean you can’t make an axe wielding witch, it will just take more effort and investment.
I think most arpg’s have the one ability spam problem. Usually trying to make some kind of hybrid or balanced build doesn’t work and you feel forced into breaking one ability. Always felt annoying and boring to me. I hope they do enough to incentivize combos and variety in POE2.
The coolest part about PoE 1 minion builds is Summoning a Spectre of fallen monsters. I loved how each Raised Spectre would have the attacks/abilities/affixes of the monster I killed. It really made for some way more unique builds! I hope they have Raise Spectre in PoE2, and if so, I am super excited to see what monsters we can Raise :)
I played a minions build at Gamescom and I can say: there is no such thing as turning off your brain. Positioning, anticipation, resummoning, casting, hexing and dodging. I think a dumb ol warrior might be easier to play if they balance the survivability.
My last experience with a game, that used to be clearly made for PCs being released with a more console oriented UI was fallout 4, which after all previous FA installments suddenly felt more like a (cheap)console to pc port than the other way around. Im happy for the console guys, but personally not super excited about it based on similar experiences. Hope it wont impact pc gameplay in a negative way.
slower gameplay is going to MASSIVELY increase the number of viable builds and playstyles and ultimately make for a more complex game with way more options for the player. Frankly, POE1 does not have NEARLY the build variety that it looks like it does at first glance, and one button screen clears are not complex.
At the start perhaps but i bet my 60 cents that after the Campagne and a few weeks into poe 2 its going back to the style of poe 1 builds, no way poeple gone do 1 map if it takes up to 20 mins + or even 10 mins plus. No chance that will happen, builders will always find a way to up the gameplay and it will always bee 1 button builds. Poe 2 will never bee a "souls" arpg no matter how much some folks want it.
hot take, trade-based balancing will turn away most of the new audience they're trying to attract, things like a complicated skill system and crafting can eventually be learned by anyone that's not illiterate, but trade is a constant and unavoidable presence (ssf is an extra challenge, not something they balance around) it warps the game at a fundamental level, you will fight a long and grueling boss for 10 minutes just to get unusable garbage loot, because thousands of players alongside you will also fight that boss, and even 25% of that group getting good items means the trade market will be flooded with options, the "realistic" upgrade path for most people will be farming incremental amounts of currency and then buying what they want from trade, which is the weakest dopamine hit ever compared to dropping the item yourself
@@holydush Isn't boring, being able to extract value out of my effort and then choose what I want, not boring whatsoever. Boring is having no way to target what I want. You literally said, "....eventually be learned by anyone that's not illiterate, but trade is a constant and unavoidable presence " You do realise that means you are saying that trade can not be eventually learned?
@@c-tothefourth4879 i said that because a lot of people wrongly think the game's complexity will turn away new players, but what does that will be trade focused balancing instead, this doesn't mean trade can't be learned, it means balancing everything around trade is a bigger problem than the commonly brought up complexity the game can never have difficult and rewarding bosses, because those difficult bosses would still be killed by plenty of players regardless, if their drop rates were good then the trade market would be oversaturated and everyone else would be able to buy the rewards without even killing the boss, this means random andy #831 playing the game will simply stop finding upgrades for himself (upgrades as in an item you can pick up straight from the ground and equip) we can just wait and see what happens to the new audience when "just buy what you want from trade" becomes the primary suggestion to progress their character, it's not like you can gear up 90% of the way on your own and buy the remaining 10%, trade is so far ahead of anything else you can reasonably do as an individual player

I think 1 button playstyle has its own charms but the way they designed skills in PoE2 just seems way more interesting and the fact that it will be first time for me when I will be able to join a not yet solved game sounds so much fun.
I think that want to make classes matter more and give them more identity. This is something that is a big part of Diablo 2 and almost non-existent in PoE 1.
All that is cool, but why can't they create thematic classes with their own unique abilities instead of bending backwards to make sure that everyone can use everything?

@@gr4692so glad to hear, welcome!
Hi Tri I m so hyped when you talk about Poe 2..
Some might say it’s FACTual 😅
Cant wait for this game. Still a bit hesitant with the hype, being fucked by blizzard over and over, and D4 has become also another fail. I uderstand that GGG is a different beast, i hope they stay true to their vision
Thx for this. Very insightful and analytical
I like the idea of playing a lightning melee dual wield character, to which Monk looks the closest, but it looks like the majority of skills are attached to specific weapon types which has me worried. I don't want to use a polearm or a wand to get some decent lightning skills. I'm happy to choose Monk or Sorcerer for the acendency, but being forced into a weapon sucks imo. Idk, maybe it doesn't work that way entirely, never played POE.
Really looking forward to this game. Thinking about going Javelins/Spears for my first build.
Huntress is not avaliable yet on the first early launch. maybe in a coupe of months. she is the best class with javelin/spears
@@gabrielamorim7287 Dang, thanks for letting me know that was the class I am most interested in. Might do monk first then.
in a perfect (for me) poe i need one skill to kill standard mobs, a second for rare and for bosses i need kombos.
it looks to slow for me now but poe 1 starts also slow and you need some hours to start zooming
Never played the first game. Super excited to try this one out. Going to pay for the early access for ps5, but I’m worried the game will be overwhelming for me. Gonna be checking out videos like this for sure
Another new monk skill involves hitting that bell with a taco..thus...making it a taco bell
one thing I really criticized about PoE was the lack of skills used.
Poe2 won’t be slow, they always show slow gameplay on trailers even for Poe 1, poe2 will be as fast as poe1
If you never played POE 1 will you be able to jump into 2?
Yep!
I liked your mention of controllers, I decided this year that I should probably play poe2 with one as RSI is slowly setting in.
i gave up on poe around heist league because theres just too much to learn but im super hyped for poe 2
I wouldn't want the job of making the player feel powerful, but keeping them from becoming bored from being too strong. A fine line to walk.
How was performance on pc from what youve seen so far?
Also I hope I'm not forced to trade. I would absolutely hate that.
I think the spammy combo style with no CDs will actually have an addition to a min maxy gameplay for top tier players.
Especially for group content. the game can have much harder content. A higher skill cap even.
I want to know if there's long term progression or do you start over every season or effectively wipe with item updates like in D4?
Both i suppose, eternal realm (standard) + current league realm
No it’s not an MMO

Never played POE but I’m really interested in trying POE2. It does seem like an intimidating game with the perk tree and seemingly endless choices.
is it going to be a lot different than 1? Am i still going to have to download 4 or 5 third party apps to play effectively?
Great analysis. I'll be one of those players buying in on day 1 even though I haven't played much of POE1.
Love you man keep the good work
Inatalled poe again after like 5 years to get hyped for 2. Loving it and cant eait for early access
Same for me after a 4 year break, diablo 4 got me back After Season 5 and now i Need more deep mechanics again und PoE 2 is exactly what i needed ! Wish you a good time !
That is absolutely not my kind of thing, I'm a bit disappointed for myself, I hope you all enjoy it I guess.
Also about bosses with phases and time-wasting mechanics, I totally hate those in PoE 1. If PoE 2 is going to be more like that, my hype is quickly dying out.
I feel like people will still use one button skills in POE2.
Especially since now you cant use the same support gem on other skills.
Nah skill combos are too powerful
GGG has said that you CAN do one button builds, but it won't be as powerful as comboing.
Ive tried multiple times to get into PoE. It just seemed so overwhelming. BUT Im so looking forward to trying this one. Cant wait
Badly designed. Need phd
PoE 2 will be just as complex, with an extra layer of complexity in the form of much harder, more tactical combat system. Have fun :D
@@Shipdacheese its so well designed that u need a phd *
just have fun, thats all. make your character, brick it, see what you did wrong, repeat.
maybe you got stuck in first 5 acts, then you will be stuck on last 10 acts, then you stcuk in early maps, then you stuck in late maps. is all a process of learning, while you have fun.
sure watch guides will help, and follow a build will get you easy for free at tier13 14 of maps. but when you try put your gear that you pick up that will brick your character, thats why is a process of learning.
I find it weird when people say class doesn’t matter considering the ascendancy is really important for the builds, and ascendancy are locked to classes. So????
Hopefully Sorcerer is really powerful feeling and good to look at.
Very good timing.. there isn't that much to play right now.. so I'm in 100 % 💪👊
Only thing I think I really disagree with is 'Warriors being about slams' kind of stuff.
Hoping I am wrong, but this game still seems to be too much for a casual dad gamer. The things that made 1 feel like so much seem to still be there
Wasn't druid announced like during the announcement? Or am I mistaken.
was first class they announced but we havent heard from it in awhile and no one has been able to play test it, so prob not at launch
They confirmend via Community discord that the druid will as of now not be in the EA launch
@@Sinuvilthat’s disappointing oh well
I honestly cannot wait I love these changes and QOL and anyone who doesn't like that can stick to Poe 1
"80% of the players in POE2 will not be players fron POE1 and most of these new players will be on console".....Ummmm.....that does NOT sound good. Matter of fact, it sounds like Diablo 4 vs Diablo 2.
Path of Exile 1 has literally given me years of fun, PoE 2 is looking to do the same
I've never played poe but I'm going to try poe2 when it is f2p for sure looks fun.
As a console player I can’t wait for POE2.
I really enjoy POE1 but it’s obvious from watching POE content that console is the 2nd rate way to play.
Such a dark souls vibe
Can’t wait !
What makes the different classes worth trying if everybody can just use whatever skill they want?
iam so hype to play thansk for the insight i hope i have enough money for the early acces, salutation from a latinoamerican fan
God damn it, gameplay looks extremely fking enjoyable. I want to play it really much
I just hope this game satiates path of exile player’s appetite and I stop seeing them doom posting in the comment section of Diablo videos
No righteous fire means Poe is a no go
D4 really fell flat for me and I never could get into POE but I’m going to give POE 2 a shot to see if it wins me over. I’m excited, may even take a day off for release if we believe that servers will hold and it will be playable day one.
DM as a Dad Diablo player is PoE2 like unapproachable, or is it manageable? The skill tree and builds seem sorta intimidating but it looks fun! (Note: didn't play PoE1)
very approachable
The skills are the gems, the passive tree just buffs stats, armor, attributes, attack speed, etc
@@dmdiablo4For someone who literally plays video games all day, maybe. For a regular guy with a wife, kids, regular job, etc I have serious doubts.
@@jonsnowight9510 if you have 84 kids and 26 wives idk what to tell you. its not near as difficult as poe1
@@dmdiablo4 Who said anything like that? What's with the hostility? I'm sorry I don't want to spend 500 hours on third party websites reading tutorials and build guides to even begin to understand a freaking *video game.* They're just not that important to my life.
I can't wait to play the Mercenary, Templar , Monk and the Huntress.
I cannot wait to play the Cyclops... I have never been so excited!!!!!!
So it's made for wasd or a controller? Mouse control will suck?
@ thank you,
That was a good explanation. so basically i can come up with a lot of ridiculous builds, thats cool
I was watching when he did this live. Couldn't figure out if he planned to do this and the question just happened to be convenient timing or what.
i just cut it out of the livestream afterwards figured some people might want a general breakdown
Oh yeah definitely. LowkoTV records TH-cam videos on stream all the time. I'm surprised you don't do it more often honestly saves time.
I think most arpg’s have the one ability spam problem. Usually trying to make some kind of hybrid or balanced build doesn’t work and you feel forced into breaking one ability. Always felt annoying and boring to me. I hope they do enough to incentivize combos and variety in POE2.
I have 540 hours in POE I love it can't wait for POE 2
8:45 this right here is what put me off from trying poe 1 absolutely hated it and i dont get ppl defending it or find it enjoyable
I played very little poe 1 console just isnt it but im hiving poe 2 a try it looks good might even grab early access
I'm just gonna do a minion build and turn off my brain. The game is much simpler for me when I have the AI fighting the AI.
The coolest part about PoE 1 minion builds is Summoning a Spectre of fallen monsters. I loved how each Raised Spectre would have the attacks/abilities/affixes of the monster I killed. It really made for some way more unique builds! I hope they have Raise Spectre in PoE2, and if so, I am super excited to see what monsters we can Raise :)
you can't turn off your brain here, minion builds are very involved.
I played a minions build at Gamescom and I can say: there is no such thing as turning off your brain. Positioning, anticipation, resummoning, casting, hexing and dodging. I think a dumb ol warrior might be easier to play if they balance the survivability.
@@Drakmo79 Did they make it so you actually have to cast spells instead of letting the minions do everything for you?
I still haven’t decided if I’m going all in on Poe 2 or stalker 2 when they launch😭 I can’t decide😭😭😭
Has time slowed down recently? Seems december 6th never comes lol
Yeah I'm not a fan of the one skill spam at all....POE 2 looks super fun though...probably gunna go mercenary
Warrior/mercenary all the way. I will forever be melee 💪
@@zeradshi youre right, but its going to be rotations, not single skills
Was co-op big in PoE? I’m wondering if it wasn’t in 1 if it will be big in 2. Like your friend could cast the “bell” and you could cast the lighting
hot take, trade-based balancing will turn away most of the new audience they're trying to attract, things like a complicated skill system and crafting can eventually be learned by anyone that's not illiterate, but trade is a constant and unavoidable presence (ssf is an extra challenge, not something they balance around)
it warps the game at a fundamental level, you will fight a long and grueling boss for 10 minutes just to get unusable garbage loot, because thousands of players alongside you will also fight that boss, and even 25% of that group getting good items means the trade market will be flooded with options, the "realistic" upgrade path for most people will be farming incremental amounts of currency and then buying what they want from trade, which is the weakest dopamine hit ever compared to dropping the item yourself
Trade isn’t hard 😂
i never said it's hard i said it's boring, and you have to interact with that insanely boring system sooner or later
@@holydush Isn't boring, being able to extract value out of my effort and then choose what I want, not boring whatsoever. Boring is having no way to target what I want.
You literally said,
"....eventually be learned by anyone that's not illiterate, but trade is a constant and unavoidable presence "
You do realise that means you are saying that trade can not be eventually learned?
@@c-tothefourth4879 i said that because a lot of people wrongly think the game's complexity will turn away new players, but what does that will be trade focused balancing instead, this doesn't mean trade can't be learned, it means balancing everything around trade is a bigger problem than the commonly brought up complexity
the game can never have difficult and rewarding bosses, because those difficult bosses would still be killed by plenty of players regardless, if their drop rates were good then the trade market would be oversaturated and everyone else would be able to buy the rewards without even killing the boss, this means random andy #831 playing the game will simply stop finding upgrades for himself (upgrades as in an item you can pick up straight from the ground and equip)
we can just wait and see what happens to the new audience when "just buy what you want from trade" becomes the primary suggestion to progress their character, it's not like you can gear up 90% of the way on your own and buy the remaining 10%, trade is so far ahead of anything else you can reasonably do as an individual player
I imagine it wouldn't be viable to build a necromancer with a bow, right?
Cant wait to play POE2 to get away from D4

@AmbassadorDvinn no :) I'm having the time of my life after all the slop ive been through recently, I'm finnaly playing a game not a slide show.
I think that want to make classes matter more and give them more identity. This is something that is a big part of Diablo 2 and almost non-existent in PoE 1.
When is thia coming out
dec 6th early access
All that is cool, but why can't they create thematic classes with their own unique abilities instead of bending backwards to make sure that everyone can use everything?
