Hi all. Act 1 and 2 footage is indeed scuffed, I am sorry. I am a bit strapped and i literally deleted the first take of this video, footage starts perfectly matching in act 3, with good art and screenshots throughout. Part 3 will be BETTER! Thanks for watching.
Suggestion: Put "Part 2" in the title, the only reason I knew this was part 2 because you said it in the video. Otherwise great video! Thanks for doing this, I've played POE1 for 500 hours, and I've never paid attention to the lore lmao.
Please someone tell me why the exile decides to follow piety? The exile still doesn't know it's there because of her... Why the exile decides to kill the beast? Why does the exile decides to kill Kitava and help Sin? That is the only missing pieces for me to understand the lore I have already done watched Noodel's lore videos but I don't grasp the Why.... maybe I'm just dumb, but those are important questions to me
Freaky that I decided to look up lore for PoE1, stumbled onto this video, watched it fully... and then realised it was uploaded 5minutes before I started looking for lore videos...good timing.
Tri, that's the best video you could do for me to pass the time for PoE2. I just wanted to tell you how awesome that is. You do a wonderful job dude. Don't stop. I've watched all your podcasts, a lot of nice thoughts and really love you position about not getting to know spoilers. I actually am trying same thing now, to limit spoilers so the pleasure of playing will be the best.
Idk how so many people say POE has bad/no lore. The story is so good, and there’s a lot of cool ideas that they can (and have) play around with. I’m super excited for the League and Atlas videos!
I literally watched part 1 last evening thinking whaaat, it was 3 weeks ago and he still didn't put up the rest? It was so good. Now 12 hours later here it is :D Great timing.
Great job on this. I only ever played thru the entire story once in 2019 and then quit pretty much but you had me recalling sooo many areas, characters and boss fights.
Reading quest text levels: maxed. Seriously great listen. I really clearly missed a lot of info playing through the game and this gives a lot of context and meaning to everything heading into the next one. Thanks much!
Wait wait wait... So now we know that the Beast feeds off of the living. And it was probably as tiny as that device at a certain point. Is this the darker side of Sin? Was he willingly tricking or maybe convincing the living to go inside Mount Veruso? Because think about it. There are hints of human activity that started probably AFTER the virtue gems were created. But for them to be created and people to go there to mine and find the virtue gems, something must've been fed to the Beast to grow to that size. I'll assume that The Hooded One is indeed Sin because: 1. "Your kind doesn't CONTROL this world anymore". The gods were only able to come back because the Beast was no more, and they were all slain by our Exile, apart from Sin and Innocence, I guess. At least in Wraeclast. 2. "We cannot destroy your body, it's true". Maybe that's only possible by using virtue gems? And it looks like he's using a Kalguuran sword. He might've been bound to that tree using Kalguuran runes as well, since he can't be destroyed anyway. So since the Beast is no more, there's been 20 years of no virtue gems being "spawned', so to speak. It may have only begun now that PoE 2's story actually starts. That could also be a lore implication on why we get "uncut gems". They're just being rediscovered by the humans and being found in the corpses of monsters now corrupted by the Beast that is once again growing. That said, maybe that's why we see Sin (supposedly) killing humans. Maybe the beast HAS to be fed once in a while. Maybe for containment. Maybe he was just the "keeper", and sacrifices were needed. Maybe he has another purpose for it. Maybe he had some sort of plan before losing it to the Count. This may be completely wrong if The Hooded One is not actually Sin, but I doubt it. lol We just don't know how far he'd go due to how little we know about him. The other ones all had their dark past. I assume he's no different.
Brilliant work Tri. I had a simple idea of this. But wow. What a story.. of course, 25 years ago I played d2lod for thousands of hours.. and still have no idea what the story was.. so. Yeah. Lol
My theory right now is that Doryani's Mesoamerican human sacrifice theme will be used to tie POE2's lore directly into the end game. Historically the Mayans and Aztec sacrificed people to stop darkness from over taking the world. I think this will be taken literally in POE2 and explains Doryani's involvement with maps.
What a nice channel, voice, animations, pacing learned a lot in here. Don't get me wrong but this videos must be good since they are made by an elf. I mean it in a good way! Keep up the good work. All the best fellow exile
wow thanks, great video. currently playing through it for the first time, to prepare for POE2. Sadly everything is so cryptic that I dont get shit ingame, even tho I'm very interested in the lore.
This is awesome dude. So where do you get all the info from? Is there a particular site that GGG has produced showing all this? Or is it pretty much your interpretation from listening to all the dialogue/clicking on all the stone tablets in the world? Either way, awesome job. On to the next lore vid!
I know it's hard to do but, can I make a suggestion for future editing of the lore series? The first 5 minutes you talk about specific areas or people in poe 1 lore, but the video clips you're showing are of different people. Talking about Brutus but fighting Merveil. Talking about act 2 but showing dominus. I think it would help the format if the video content matched more closely with what you were narrating. But the video is great and I love hay you're putting together the lore in digestible bits.
You are TOTALLY right. Acts 1 and 2 are scuffed, acts 3 onward do this. I decided to just get it out as I put an ungodly amount of time in and accidentally deleted the whole thing once. In the future, it shall be done!
@TalkativeTri no worries. I know it's a lot of work. I just wanted to provide something constructive instead of negative. You're doing awesome work man. Keep it up. How your channel and following are growing are just the vindication you need to show you're doing great. We appreciate you.
Love these videos, one thing I'd love though is when introducing characters/areas/names, it'd be great to pop up their names on the screen in text! I had to keep pausing to google :P
Hey i hope u make some kind of lore video about Poe 2. Maybe for the official launch. Must say this was really interesting to watch;) Greetings from Germany
What I would like to know more about, but is extremely difficult to find, is how each empire handled the use of the virtue gems. I know we were embedding them in our gear, but gemlings placed them in their actual flesh. And, the Vaal, supposedly, crushed the gems, then injected them into their blood? Would just really like to know more about the different methods, reasons for those, etc.
Gonna have to nudge about the witch introduction. She didn't burn and massacre a whole village because of her kin getting killed, the villagers burn her home so she just simply took their children (implied she killed them). The motivation of the villagers burning her home is unknown, but it hinted by Dominus's dialogue in character selection screen ; ""Why do the keen of mind seek to satiate their curiosity in Darkness and Depravity ? Innocence is our Father, Oriath our Mother. When a Daughter strays away from the Light, she makes herself an Orphan.....". The Witch could be practicing somekind of taboo thaumaturge or something that is way different than what people usually use. People fear of the unknown, and the unknown lead to demise when practiced by masses. Just like in middle ages when people don't understand something, they attribute it to "magic" and call someone that practice it as "Witch", it could be the same case. All the dialogues said by each of characters in Path of Exile when interacting with certain individual / object, entering a certain area, slain certain npc, they hint alot about the worldbuilding in Path of Exile 1. For example, Witch - Piety - Allira, implied that three of them are "sisters". Both Witch and Piety refer to each other with "sister" and Witch also refer to Allira as "sister". It can be actual biological sister, or as "sister" in a covenant of "witches", as all of them are adept in thaumaturgy especially in manipulating with corpses / the dead. Not only with character's dialogue, Flavor Text in Unique items / Divination Cards are also hinting alot of Path of Exile lore. Its hard to make an entirety of actual lore of Path of Exile, as people have to connect the puzzle together and often the puzzle pieces are only one or two sentences. We also still not yet know how we will move forward with Zana and the atlas, and the introduction of Maven kinda erase Zana's relevancy into the story. As someone that has been playing the game for almost 10 years, Zana is a prominent figure in my exile's career. So moving forward to Path of Exile 2, there might be alot of retcon in both games.
0:45 This is wrong. She didn't murder a village, and she wasn't avenging the death of her kin. She killed a bunch of children because their parents burned down her house.
I need a POE1 lore video for dummies or something. I just don’t get it. It seems to just get more and more complex…I guess it’s fitting for POE1 I guess. 😂
Why not give a shoutout to other content creators who already put an extensive amount of hours into making videos about the lore of POE over the years like Kitten Cat Noodle. I understand this video is trying to explain the story of POE 1 in a more simplified structure but content creators should at least give a shoutout to other creators channels that have put in a lot hours and have almost dedicated their whole channel to uploading lore videos. Not only does it help other content creators but it also helps viewers discover, learn and love the world they want to know more about.
This was in the initial script, but the video was very long already. I've shouted out Kitten and Gavryn numerous times on this channel, and I lift up others wherever possible.
So, after realize that in act 4 we actually slayed, what seems to be, a finale form of Beast. I started thinking that PoE2 is might be not a sequel but a prequel, because of what we saw in PoE2 cinematic.
I love this game, but even with these lore videos it’s still impossible to understand what’s happening, why we’re helping these different people, who or what is the villain, etc.
I'll save you the 30mins TLDR: None of it matters for POE2 unless you want to understand small callbacks to the first game, most of which will probably be explained anyway.
Hi all. Act 1 and 2 footage is indeed scuffed, I am sorry. I am a bit strapped and i literally deleted the first take of this video, footage starts perfectly matching in act 3, with good art and screenshots throughout. Part 3 will be BETTER! Thanks for watching.

Otherwise great video! Thanks for doing this, I've played POE1 for 500 hours, and I've never paid attention to the lore lmao.
Tbh I would prefer a stater char to record gameplay instead of fully mtxed char. It would give a progression vibe imo.
lol I didn’t even notice, it’s a great video keep up the good work
Please someone tell me why the exile decides to follow piety? The exile still doesn't know it's there because of her...

Sounds like you need to hire an editor so you can start taking this to another level.
Freaky that I decided to look up lore for PoE1, stumbled onto this video, watched it fully... and then realised it was uploaded 5minutes before I started looking for lore videos...good timing.
This is the best summarized lore video I watched. Finally feels like I understand what went down in wraeclast. Thank you.

R.I.P. - D4 (June 5th, 2023 - Dec 6th, 2024)
Yeah we get it, d4 bad, its getting old at this point. Stop beating this dead horse
Blizzard's response will be to fire ground floor employees when the problem is the leadership.
D4 is a good game. Just needs more. It will get better with more time. Just how POE was. It got better with time.
This has never been a good comparison. D4 is a very different thing with a relatively small cross-over in player base.
@@adriankrzyszton8 D4 bad.

Its really delivered poorly GGG big brained too hard that normal people go lost mid campaign (im one of them)
Thanks Tri!
I just finished the latest one then Bam!
New episode, the timing is too perfect 😊

Awesome video. I love lore videos. My first playthrough is tried to get the story but didn't understand any of it lol. Thank you for this series.
Subbed specifically for your positivity, gonna stick around for the poe 2 content! God bless ya thanks for the vid!
I really liked the lore video man, I hope to see more soon!

good story telling bro i enjoyed learni the full story before jumping into early access
OK, Ive watched this 9 times now, and I still love it! :)
POG
Ive been loving the lore and your lore videos.
now THIS is the stuff i want to see! Doing math is cool and all but the story of ARPG's is always what draws me in!
Looking forward to part 3!
wow thanks, great video.

If you hear anything about a guy named Krillson or the word “alluring” in POE 2, press record.
y tho
@ The secret fishing mechanic. It’s supposedly been in POE 1 since the early leagues, but nobody has figured out how to fish yet.
@ oh my god i have to know how to fish in game it’s all i’d do

It would be YUGE, but I would accept nothing less than the level of perfection GGG puts into their games.
He's done it
Excelent!
I just realized the cloaked dude in the poe2 trailer impaled by ogham was Sin o.o
great video vary helpful ++1
Is the thing Sin uses to shoot black beams into Kitava not the ember?
You did a great job on the script, but why footage is so lazy?
What's the build at 13:20?

acts 1-4 are goat. loved the comics. 5-10 feels so hastly put together. hope they tie it all down better on poe 2

so the pinnacle boss could be Sin?
Most important, no lore content 🎉
