I had Brawn and Gears as a kid, though I cannot remember where the two of them wound up... In the cartoon it was Brawn and Windcharger, Brawn was an absolute star and I just found Windcharger neat.
Never had Brawn as a kid. I had Outback, though. Loved Outback. He would sometimes double as Brawn, just like my Ultra Magnus would double for Prime. I miss the imagination I had as a kid 😕
Yeah that's one of the best things about being a kid. Imagination is king! Never got outback but asba Roy I always thought that he was an upgrade from Brawn 😅
If you check out Transformers One, please keep your eyes peeled in crowd shots, a TON of characters can be spotted in the background and I definitely spotted Brawn's shiny silver helmet and arms on a green background bot a few times!
Floro Dery's design changed Brawn's look from a scrawny claw-handed-stilt-walking Autobot to what we see in the G1 series. Hasbro didn't know phasing out characters would be child trauma for longtime fans. 😅
Oh I didn't know Floro Dery did that..I mean I know he did the 86 ones. Cool! And yes! Hasbro completely underestimated our attachments to the original characters. Unfortunate for them. 👍
Brawn was always a favourite of mine. I liked how the British TF comics drew Brawn toy accurately for the first few story lines. I think his toy look is neat
I always figured the sutobots were dying easier in the movie because Optimus said at the beginning the Decepticons had won and took back cybertron and had more energy and more powerful where the autobots were struggling the reason they were sent in the shuttle was to get energy so they could attack the decepticons. Therefore the autobots were weaker and low on energon and Therefore easier to kill
I do like the extra "robot-ness" of the original toy. The first 2 issues of the US made it look tougher and less splindly. Maybe they could have found a way use his claws as a sort of fighting mode, in the cartoon?
1:11 it was probably his ego. Thinking he's really tough. And then he gets destroyed in the movie? Wtf. He can take a hit buy one of his fellow Autobots being thrown against him. And yet when Megatron... Well Megatron was juiced up so. Yeah.

Love Brawn. In G1 season 2. Brawn and Windcharger were quite a scrappy duo, specially shown in the Aztecs pyramids and had Skyfire as back up. In fact when I saw the TF Movie in the 80s. I thought Kup and Hotrod had the same duo dynamics battling Decepticons when they were trying to get back to autobots city. The theory is Brawn kind of died bud didn't. He took so many shots before the movie blast from Megatron fusion canon. But Megatron Fusion power is multiplied when in gun mode. And his core was affected. he didn't die, but his spark was damaged, that's why there was an explosion from within him. His body was so tough he didn't die. He got repaired but he wasn't the same. his personality become more drone like and his strength no longer utilized as his personality has changed. Basically a shell of the Original Brawn.
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf yes I also play table top old school Transformers RPG. I made a Character based on Brawn. Designate: Ground Fist Alt Mode: Land Rover Defender (Modified with larger Studded wheels) Sub Faction: Wreckers Weapons: Custom Standard Blaster Gun, with built in cylinder grenade launcher, Hammer Fist, Shell Grandes. Subspace Storage Pocket - Exo Arms, (G1 Ultra Magnus size) - Str x4 - Smash Drill Bore Fist - Tough Metal Perk (reduces blunt force attack damage by half, on rolling a 12 on a 3d6) Energon consumption: 1300 DPS He's is as tough as the original Brawn with same abilities. The Exo Arms puts him at Par str close to Combiners combined form but use only for a limited time. (2D6 rounds) then energy is used up and goes back to subspace pocket. He does consume a lot of Energon. Imagine Brawn (450 DPS) + Ironhide (600 DPS) + Cliffjumper (250 DPS) or just above Shockwave (1250 DPS) level of Energon consumption. But in RPG who doesn't. It takes that much Energon to summon that powerful exo arm. Yes he guzzle Energon like a Decepticon. Now in game Decepticons guzzle Energon because of anti gravity flight abilities. Ground Fist doesn't fly, but instead summon the Exo Arms. For a short time, so he it has to be used sparringly. But when he does, it's practically Hulk Smash! One of his best moments was pounding back and forth with a Construction Combiner (Not Devastator) and knocking the combiner team out separating them in the process. Imagine a little bot with huge arms boxing toe to toe with a similar Devastor size combiner. My dice rolling that day was good.
@redheartnorvus8997 sounds awesome! Is that an existing RPG? Never heard of a Transformers RPG before? But then again I only occasionally dabble in D&D 😅
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf yes it's similar to D&D. But we use lots of d6, occasional d20 and d100. And most objectives are a power struggle for natural or man made energy sources just like G1 cartoons. Though I played this game early 2000, game was made I think 1987 ish. The main difference is people and humans in general don't like both Autobots and Decepticons, they can't tell both factions apart.
