There is a reason Starscream is part of the big three of Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starcream... G1 toon Screamer will always be iconic. Chris Latta steals every scene he voices... I think that might be because like Cobra Commander, Starscream represents Latta real-life persona, but with no limits. In G1, Screamer went from being a tad bumbling in season 1 to a far more competent and resourceful character in season 2, even showing up Megatron on multiple occasions. I am a Huge fan of the old Marvel and Marvel UK Transformers run, and loved Screamer there as well. I loved his appearance in Beast Wars, and was pretty sweet of him to subvert expectations by not possessing Terrorsaur, but rather Waspinator. Turning him from a joke to a real threat... Transformers animated, I never cared for... Just too kiddy for me. Even more so than Beast Wars (but when BW got adult, it really did it well). The IDW run of Screamer I only followed until the end of All Hail Megatron, but although it started strong, just kind of went down hill for me (I did not bother with with Dreamwave before, as again, was not too interested). The movie Screamer design I have always loved! Something about the first bayverse film designs that made the characters so iconic for their new era in live action, Too bad in the series, the characters outside of a handful had any point to them, and were just kinda there. Screamer at least got a lot of screen time for not being a main character in any of the films he was in. Transformers Prime did a great Starscream except when he was acting like Animated Starscream... ugh... But generally he was cool. Transformers: One Screamer was pretty pointless (though I loved his presence by being voiced by Steve Buscemi, before the silly high-pitched shenanigans). Excellent video! You need to do a part two to this, as like Prime and Megs, you need a longer one. Screamer's existence, and characterization are intrinsically linked to Megs and that makes him very hard not to add more info. It is the reason that even in the bayverse, he had more lines of dialogue than every other Transformer other than Prime and Megatron, and also does a lot when compared to other "characters"... So most of the least... lol
@Sturmvapor nice! Thanks for your extensive feedback on the major iterations of Starscream. I completely agree on all your takes except animated 😅 I get it that the kiddiness can bea turn off. But as a whole, I think it's the best modern series story wise of Transformers post G1. But that's just me :) Thank you for watching my video and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I dont think I have aprt two in me though but writing it definitely showed me that I need to tell the other side of the coin in Megatron so that is definitely on the short list :) Thanks as always for watching and it's always great hearing from you!
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Yeah most of the stories post G1 are have more arc (cause and effect), like the Comics (and a good thing for sure)... But I would never say the more simplistic stories of G1, were as kiddie as Animated were. They definitely were more adult themed... Something Beast Wars grew into, and especially by Beast Machines. In G1 you never had "cutesy" characters. Something that Animated brought in (because it carried over some things from Animated, like Starscream's dance routine in Prime...sigh, and the Human Miko wanting to be a Wrecker of all things... Double sigh). G1 never had anything so silly and kiddy, but it did have its own silliness. A similar issue happened with IDW's initial comics with Verity Carlo, and the other humans. I get that IDW wanted human characters that the fans already knew, but they were written in a very Tim Drake Robin kind of way. Most of the time in the G1 cartoon Spike was written as generally responsible and careful, especially when dealing with the Transformers (probably because he was not a young teenager, but older at minimum 18 yrs old to be working with his dad on an oil rig). Just saying... the way G1 was written really didn't dumbdown much. Same with GI Joe, for similar reasons. Always good to chat brother! :D
@Sturmvapor yeah I get it, despite having some silly episodes, as a whole the original g1 series was more grounded if that makes any sense. But I guess it was just the times...almost all cartoons then were similar in a good way that appealed to us as kids. Who were more sensible 🤣 But times change and kids change and pretty soon the silliness and quirkiness of shows became more attractive to the next generation But despite that, there were shows that still managed to put out great stories on a whole silliness aside :)
I'm G1 Screamer all the way and ghost Starscream. Dude my first Starscream was the same one from 06. My wife got me Studio 86 in August so it was fun coming home to that. 100 episodes that's so awesome and this was a fun one because after that first pole I thought Megs had it then going up next to Storm shadow I thought for sure my boy was out. But as always great video thank you so much for the time you put into them and have a great day see you in the next one
You can't beat the original! Yeah I was really caught off guard at how Starscream came from behind and took down Megatron! Fun turn out for Episode 100. This was one hell of an episode to make 😅 but ill keep doing them if you and everyone else keeps watching them :) THANKS as always! And enjoy SS86 Starscream!
This was incredible. Great story! Also, Rollins, Golden Girls, Very Bad things... All in one video. There is nothing else like this on youtube. Well done.
I like Starscream, but remember, much of my media as a kid was the comics, and there his betrayal was downplayed. It was really Shockwave who did most of the plotting
Congratulations for uploading your 100th episode. Animated Starscream was very fun to watch, especially the montage where Megatron kept killing him on and on haha. I haven't read a single issue from the IDW run, but I am tempted to check it out at some point because of the summary you provided about Starcream's story.
Thanks so much! Yeah Starscreams story in IDW was definitely the most dense of the bunch. But I think that it's probably the greatest treatment of Starscream ever! But it's hella long 😅
I kinda didnt like starscream's voice in tfone, since it didnt really have the high pitched tone to it. What made it worse was when they did at one point give him a "broken" voice that sounded so perfect and then shortly removed it if I remember correctly.
Yeah Steve Buscemi's voice was quite the departure from Chris Latta. But I thought it was OK for what it was. I imagine given hisbdamaged voice box, IF they have a sequel and I hope they do, Buscemi may be replaced with a more cost friendly voice actor. Closer to Latta :)
Although forgettable and retconned- the Generation 2 comic that brought Starscream and Megatron back and then Starscream betrayed everyone and started merging with War World (?) before being corrupted by the good of the Matrix and then making a deal to give up the matrix and stay evil again- great examples of Starscream being Starscream and finding a way to stay alive and on top. That comic series brought me back to being a Transformers fan after drifting away and collecting some of the later Marvel run after not really getting into too many TF comics. Bud Budinsky did write some banger TF stories, but he didn't have the consistency that Larry Hama did on GiJoe.
Thanks for this! Yip I never read G2 but I sign read about his story there while doing my research for this episode :) I guess I was so overwhelmed with everything else that this story slipped through the cracks....I'll probably do a supplementary short to cover it this week. :) Yeah agree as much as I enjoyed the original Marvel run, for me, Hama's Joe series was on another level 👍
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Did you read the Regeneration One IDW continuation from the Marvel, ignoring the G2 maxiseries? Starscream was in it, but didn't really do anything that notable. There were a few cool parts, but....I thought overall great art and underwhelming story. The cover gallery in the final issue was pretty amazing
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf It went from 80.5 to 100. And the art and covers are the best part. There was another Prime vs Megatron and I remember a great Ultra Magnus vs Galvatron fight. I think there was a good Soundwave vs Blaster fight too. But I remember it being more miss than hit. All written by Simon Furman. I think most of the art was by Andrew Wildman.
@cheeseburger12 OK cool! I'll eventually get around to checking it out :) thanks for the tip! Now that I think about it, I don't think I actually finished the original run. I was so soured over the entire Underbase saga. Oh well, I guess I'll start there 😅
@hiddensquid7048 OK cool less of of snivelling lackey like he is in the movies. Actually I do recall reading the comic "sequel" of the first movie that centered around Starscream. That was pretty good as well from what I recall 👍
@cheeseburger12 yeah it sucks but I have faith. I think the extremely good feedback will help sway them into investing in a sequel :) plus given all the design work, 3d models are done, wouldn't production cost be less? Who knows 😅
Cuz I never watched it 😅 sorry but my stories are mostly based on the stuff I have first hand experience with. And With Starscream specifically, the episode was already so long and from what I hear Armada Screamer deserved better than a short little inclusion. Anyway let's see...if I get intrigued enough I'll check out more UNicron Trilogy, specifically Starscream and see if I can squeeze out another episode. 👍 otherwise I hope you enjoyed the other stuff!

Armada's incarnation is my favorite since he's competent, but he's also sympathetic, plus I love his character arc.
It's funny, I JUST picked up Coronation Starscream yesterday! Abs then THIS episode comes out! AWESOME!
Nice glad that I could add to the awesome experience for ya! Hope your coronation Starscream lasts longer than the actual Starscream’s reign 👍👍👍
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I'm already setting him up with Galvatron, lol!
I got Thrones Thronescream several days ago too.
@dubuyajay9964 cool👍 is the throne any good? Worth the price?
And Starscream is just better then Megatron in my opinion because by abusing Starscream Megatron has branded himself an irredeemable jerk in my eyes.
Well to be fair....he IS a bad guy 👍
I will never think of a battered Megatron the same way again 😂

Hail Hail!
Awesome, thanks so much for making this. Starscream rules.
You're welcome! So glad you enjoyed it! Starscream rules! Megatron drools 😅

My fav character by far, love pretty much every version of him (he's even one of the bayverse decepticons that im mostly ok with the design of).
