Jon Lord, the keyboard player was classically trained, and played a Hammond organ. However, he wanted to compete with guitar players, so took the output from the organ & put it through guitar distortion effects, amplifiers & speakers

I've been sitting here with a massive grin watching you reacting and knowing what's coming next. The singer is the incomparable Ian Gillan, known back in the day as 'The Hairy Scream' for reasons which need no explanation. The incredible guitar and keyboard combo of Ritchie Blackmore and John Lord and the rock solid bass and drums from Roger Glover and Ian Paice. What a band!

Deep Purple is one of those bands who started in the 60s/70s, and are still around today, to an extent. They've undergone countless personnel changes over the time, but this is generally considered to be the best & definitive line-up.

Second comment, PF, LZ, DP, Were really the big 3 late 60s and 70s, every LZ fan had a copy of IN ROCK by DP. It was compulsory back then, I know that you don't give a Baboon's Bum about subscriber numbers, But I wouldn't be surprised if you started to react to YES close to the edge, and Jethro Tull (Locomotive Breath) or Aqualung Album title, your subs.will go through the roof. I can honestly say that the music I and millions of others lived through will NEVER be bettered. PS. Because of my age my name just in time is a pseudonym I like to use. Oy mate, now this is a CLASSIC. I was 12 when this came out in June 1970, but I heard it for the first time in 1974. I was immediately blown away by the song, the guitar, the vocalist(Ian Gillian). On guitar you have the Hall of Fame'er Richie Balckmoore. MY buddy and I had him as the VERY best after Hendrix passed away.
Now if you'd like to disappear further down the rabbit hole of what is Deep Purple, I STRONGLY suggest you listen to the entire live album: Deep Purple Made in Japan. But for starters here is a link to what is imho the very best track on that double album: th-cam.com/video/_NNRAXWjGBc/w-d-xo.html
I wish you could go back in time, so you could experience the 70's. That decade produced some of the greatest music EVER written and performed. Did I mention; the band is British. Yeah, like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd(who btw is my all time favorite band.)
Oh, almost forgot, LOVE your reactions. It gives me great pleasure to watch somebody enjoying the music I grew up with, and still listen to.
I wish you and your loved ones a VERY Merry Christmas. Stay safe and take care. Peace out.

That voice! Ian Gillan to me always will sound like Jesus! No wonder Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice chose him to be the voice of Jesus on 1970’s “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Another great track on that album that Ian is fully the voice of Jesus is "Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say)"- track 2 on side 3. It’s Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane the night he was arrested in the story.
