    Although the combination of the improvements we applied for dust collecting, there is still fine particles in the air so we will continue to use masks but our cheap air filters seem to clean that out quickly so we are super pleased with the results. Wish we would have done this loooooong ago.

      Good for you for paying attention to the sawdust and making improvements on collecting it…it’s SSOOOO important!!! One tip I’ve seen to improve dc on the table saw is to cover up the slot where you adjust the tilt of your blade. If your TS is metal in that area, look at the Microjig Magnetic Dust Cover. It’s only $11, and you’d spend more than that pretty quickly if you just covered it up with tape.
      One more area I think you could improve is your dust port connection. I’m not sure if DeWalt’s TS is like this, but I know their planer is-there’s a fan that actually pushes the sawdust out the port vs it just being a passive port. Either way, if I saw correctly in your video, the connector that you’re using to connect to the dust port is smaller than the actual dust port itself. So it’s letting or even blowing out sawdust around your port that your collector isn’t getting! You need a piece that connects to your collector to make the dc attach to the OUTSIDE of your dust port. Hope this helps!

    Hello,
    A good update for the table saw. Dust collection systems need to work well at all times. As long as it is connected to a good suction system, it will not cause any problems. This was a nice update. Congratulations. It's a feat to always do a little bit better. Everything you get your heart desires.

    Great ideas and tips, that will make a better environment to work in. The blade guard option I have never got use to, but that’s just me.

      I am with you on the blade guard. Sometimes I just have to use it and then it is in the way so I remove it. Now being able to remove more dust makes it much more practical for use in our little garage/workshop.

    Soon I'm gonna be building a rolling workbench to fit my saw and I'll definitely try a couple of these ideas with it as the dust has become too much to handle at the moment. The year I've had this saw I've mostly set up by the garage door but it's not the long term solution I need! Cheers!

      We are sincerely thrilled to hear you are interested in trying a couple of these ideas. Knowing the the projects you do, we have no doubt you will make improvements and we will have to make more improvements by using your ideas.

    It's so hard to collect all that fine dust but 98% is very good. 👍

      I have a couple fans with HVAC filters running and they pick up a ton of sawdust as well. It never seems like there is that much in the air but the filters are full with dust in just a day of cutting wood in the shop. Between all of this, it helps a lot.

    Great video!!! So do you have to use to separate vacuums?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use one but you will need an adapter that converges the two gives into a single hose to attach to a single dust collector.

      I need to split my 4" dust collection hose to connect to the bottom bag so it isnt a passive collection and I am hoping that might capture more dust.

    Great upgrade on the table saw both.
    At 4.04 the vac hose into the outlet port on the table saw looked extremely ill-fitting.
    Can you buy an adaptor from the shop vac to the table outlet to get a better fit and seal?
    Great video as ever both.
    Take care.
    Cheers, Huw

      I made the same suggestion, before I read the other comments, of course 🤣

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very observant as always and you are spot on. I already ordered some parts but they are too tight but that is fine. What I do is use a heat gun to soften the fitting end, which I intentionally purchased too small and then I force the adaptor on and allow it to cool and it makes for a very tight fit. I then add thumb screw hose clamps for an even tighter fit.

    great video! one small suggestion: it would be great if you could include a wide shot of what the completed upgrades look like. most of the shots are very tight. thanks for sharing!

    The war on dust is never ending! What was up with the pin nailer?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least I get the feeling I am winning against the dust for a change. As for the nailer, I would normally get sarcastic and say something about it having a screw loose. Turns out there really was a loose screw that allowed two pins through each time. Problem fixed for now. :-)

      That happens when the air pressure is too low, below 60psi

    Another great fix for a problem. My saw is a different brand but my neighbors are far enough away that I can leave the door up. If it rains, I get the floor mess to contend with. Maybe I should stop sawing when it rains,,,Hmmm!!

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HAHAHA! We actually have a different thought about the rain. If it rains, that will keep sawdust from flying all over the neighborhood so I am more apt to leave the garage door open just a bit but in Hawaii, it may rain fairly regularly but it is for a few minutes and then it is sunny once again, very quickly. hmmmm.

  • @oooldman11
    @oooldman11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where you made the connections from your vacuum hose on the dust cover above the blade. The fit leaves a lot to be desired. you can make it more efficient with a very simple fix. take a small water bottle and cut both ends off, slip it over the hose connections and use a heat gun to shrink it together , that will make an almost air tight seal.
    Almost all plastic plastic bottles and containers can be shrunk to make connection parts the heavier bottles like mountain dew perform better because of the strength .Which opens the uses only your imagination will soon discover !!!

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely correct and we truly appreciate your providing this information to our viewers. I usually purchase hose connector/adapters at a slightly smaller size, use my heating gun to soften the adapter and force it tightly onto the corresponding hose and allow it to cool to create a tight fit. I always use a hose clamp on top to ensure the connection does not come apart. I decided not to do so on this build but I should have pointed that out to the viewers. We sincerely thank you for watching the video and for the awesome comment and suggestion you have provided. It really does mean a lot to us.

    Do you all of these dust collection devices hooked up to a single shop vac or?

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. I was hoping to obtain a splitter that would allow me to connect two options to the dust collector and the other to my shop vac. I have only been able to connect the table saw output port and the blade cover to dust collectors. The bag below is static but does a great job of allowing dust to fall down in the bag instead of flying all over the shop. Thank you for the great question.

    Funny how you advertise as "poor man's DIY" then proceed to tell folks to buy two products rather than make their own with what materials may be on hand. A DIY version would truly be a "poor man's" solution. I will now make my own. Thanks 😀

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @tiaan_va okay all. It's all good. The original comment was about how I "advertise" as Poor Man. The point I made is that I am not advertising as poor man. It is just a name. It would be like complaining about Burger King because they advertise as a king when no one anointed them as a king. Or talking about Kentucky Fried Chicken stores in California and saying it should be California fried chicken. It's a name. And if you wish to say a true poor man would make their own jigs, then I ask why your definition of poor is any more righteous? What tools would a poor man use to make the jigs? A poor man can afford tools, so are you saying a poor man diy project means making tools from rocks to chop wood and scrape it down to the jig? Furthermore, does a poor man even own a table saw or able to afford electricity to power a table saw, much less, need to make a diy jig? So the very first comment regarding my channel name is nothing more than a troll who wants to be the defender of poor people all over the world by pointing out my channel name is falsely advertising as a Poor Man. It appears you dont find the first comment insulting and pointed out it doesn't make his comments untrue. I venture to say my response was not insulting and doesn't make my response untrue. It almost sounds like you support comments that agree with your ideas but you did not consider for a second that my response is not untrue. I find that interesting but I do thank you for the comments, nonetheless.

    What about the blade cutting, say 45 degrees, the rear vent mov4s.

    • @Poor_Mans_DIY
      @Poor_Mans_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, this will not work with a 45 degree cut. If you find a solution for a 45 degree cut, we would love to hear how you accomplished it.

    • @micstica

      I saw a video. The fellow attached a couple of markers to the exhaust pipe of his dewalt table saw. He placed a right size piece of plywood in contact with the pens. With someone holding the board he tilted the saw to 45 and traced out the curve the exhaust pipe travel. Cut it out and now the back is sealed and the blade travel is available. I figure the way to seal up the curved opening is a curved piece of ply held in place with washers and magnets. I know your pain. My shop is in the unfinished part of the basement. There is also a lot of other stuff stored there. The room is starting to look like a hasmat tent, shower curtins everywhere. To add to the layer, I also use a wood lathe. A scession on that is a sight to behold. More so if the door bell rings. Ive answered wearing a resperator, full face mask jacked up and covered in chips head to toe. The exptessions I had r priceless.
