christopher tin is my choral crush
no, he's ours, too.
Me too !
I was at the world premier of this piece at Carnegie Hall a few years back. It is still to this day, the greatest performance I've ever attended.

@@moonlightbunny22 he’s not
Love the conductor silently screaming the last BER with em
Silently??? :-)
@@tompw3141 you think he actually sang/shout? honestly dont know, never saw a conductor sing along loudly
@@brooktewolde5775 I've known conductors sing choral parts, yes:-)
Well, the conductor is also the author of this piece, so it probably means something to him. He is singing with them almost the whole time.
@@Wesley_Peter_Redmond im happy if he feels so deep that he sings, his shout his own music! Frenetic, happy music!
Just found this and I keep listening to it over and over again because of how beautiful it is. And Jimmer Bolden (the soloist), has _such_ a beautiful voice!
hoooooooooooooly wow
thats like
the most stunning orchestral performance ive ever seen
I tried so hard..but smiled as I embraced the music. Like always.
You're weak...
same lol took it as a challenge and I failed at the end. something about funny notation and beautiful music overruled my willpower
I enjoyed the music but I found it quite easy not to smile - didn't even have to try.
@@mahlonrhoades4509 you're very cool for that good job
Oh my, this lifted me up this Sunday morning. My car is in the shop, so I can't get to Mass. Watched Mass on my tablet and then saw and heard this wonderfulness!!!! Happy Advent to all. He is coming to save us. Amen.
I cant tell you how many times I watch this video. Absolutely love it x
It absolutely warms my heart to see you feature this song!!! It's been such a fave of mine and you're right -- you can't not smile. Christopher Tin is a wizard and the soloists absolutely NAIL it.
Chill bumps all over my body (Soul Connection) and tears of joy. Thank you. All of you are absolutely magnificent. ❤
So fun to hear African music in this traditional setting. And what voices. I loved the annotation for the last word - Absolutely Humongous.
I cried, is that what was supposed to happen?
That man*s voice! ... Go look at the Angel City Chorale's participation in America's got talent ... He is magnificent! They all are.
Title of this post was spot on-this makes me so happy. Thanks, George!
How did I get so lucky that TH-cam suggested this for me??
Thank you so much for introducing me to this piece. Been swimming in it for 2 days now.
That was fantastic. I appreciated being able to see the sheets as the song progressed. ❤
I've seen this before, and heard it too of course, but damn there is so much feeling in this, it just brought me to tears. It's so perfect
Heaven is going to be AMAZING
That conductor is gettin it I love it!
If someone were to ask "What does humanity, in this small corner of space and time offer the universe ?" I would show them this. They could then see the value of our contribution.
This is absolutely my favorite Christopher Tin composition. The first time I heard it, I'd just stumbled upon it and was completely and utterly blown away. Oh what I wouldn't give to sing this in the chorale. Singing with a group of other people literally changes us biologically.
IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY 😊. EMOTIONALLY HAPPY 🥰🙏.
You’re right I couldn’t! Thanks
Nothing to smile about. They are passionate and professional. Excellent job.
"Chefs kiss"... you got me!! :)
This song is about calling the rain and it’s actually raining right now where I am
I did smile through it all 😊 Thanks coz I needed it ❤
That was stunning!
I got chills hearing this.
Idk how else to explain how this music made me feel except for saying it felt like a jaw dropping sunrise.
Makes the thought of a victory possible
FINNALY a youtuber who DOESN'T use RANDOM capital letters in the video TITLES
I've got goose bumps! Even my hair!
Christopher Tin is MAGIC!!
The "chef's kiss" part ❤ 👌

Didn't smile. Though that was a really hard challenge to not smile.

Fim de semana, nois vai BE.. BEEE. BEBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
I wish you could show an English translation of the score. Absolutely stirring Performance
I didn't smile before he was like: Baaa🐑🐑
Yes I can
Dude- That title almost had me thinking that was a song in DhoLuo (the language of the Luo tribe in East Africa). "Waloyo Yamoni" could be loosely translated to "We've conquered/overcome the storm/wind/... trouble?"
Delightful and expansive. What is the language?
I didn't smile. Nice song. But I didn't smile.
Ya’ll should check out calling all dawns album. It’s Christoper’s greatest work.
Nope no smile
Well, I could.
Beside the pronunciation of the words this is great .
@georgecollier could you post a version of the whole song with the conductor sheet music and translation?
Absoulutely humongous lol

1:36 My mother's covering her camera with her thumb.
I can't smile with all the crying, marvellous chorus
Wow :)
wow powerful voice. i love it
Jesus! Chris Tin is a goat!
In a world of turmoil where there is so much hatred for mankind from so many quarters it is this kind of
example that is sadly in far too short supply as it makes you realise just how wonderful and creative mankind can be.
No nie wiem. Takie sobie. Nawet kącik ust mi się nie podniósł do uśmiechu.
Sometimes I forget how beautiful human beings can be when they come together. ❤

Yup. Co-operation over competition - encore!

Yes indeed! Beautiful.
That’s the power of music
Goosebumps!!!
From “big” to “absolutely humongous” love it
honestly, that's what made me smile
Those were the kinds of directions I loved seeing back when I was a choral member. It gave such life to the piece from the composer
Well yea she's a bigger girl. But fat shaming is not okay.
@@PyfeTweesenHuh? They're talking about the directions on the sheet of music.
this mans voice.. it is an angels voice, I can't help but smile with teary eyes, so much power in his voice.
Yes! OMG even your comment makes me well up. It’s just pure joy!!!
Your comment made me cry as well! So much emotion in this piece but his voice sends chills up my spine!
beautiful
that is so lovely! I keep returning to this song@@dronelayer
You truly feel the joy and love through their voices, such an incredible thing to experience.
I have been going through a rough time. While trying to feel better, I realised that I mostly knew bands playing "dark" moody music. So, in a time where I have needed some powerful joyful music, this video appeared. Thank you so much for sharing!
I get what you mean. Dark music can be relatable but in our darkest moments, we need something joyful and uplifting to remind us of the beauty in life. I hope you feel better soon. 💛
@@LimewirePirate thank you for sharing good vibes 🙏
I’m an older lady, but i find the very best music is timeless. The only difference is HiFi Stereo-phonics and zero distortion played through wooden speakers holding tweeters, woofers and subwoofers. 3 1/2’ tall. Procal Harem, Yes, Moody Blues it gets you to a better place and late for school, because I was, and I was honest about it. FM; King Biscuit Flower Hour; or was it Flour? Any way it was nation wide. There is a saying, “music soothes the savage soul”. And this is how it works.☀️🌾🖖🏼
Absolute same. I regularly struggle with depressive episodes and at some point had lost all joy in music. Luckily I have regained that emotion since. Funnily enough. Happy music often makes me cry, but that really helps me connect with my feelings.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I wish you all the best my friend.
@@Benisuber1 Haha! Amazing! George's annotations on the sheet music are also fantastic!
This is to be heard in headphones while flying, as the plane emerges from the storm and clouds, and you can see the sun in the distance through the window.
What a lovely comment ❤☮️
Flying kills the planet
You should try climbing a mountain when there's a sea of clouds. Emerging from those is even more pretty than your shitty metal tube of environmental destruction
@@letoatreides5165 Maybe. But relatively few have the opportunity and/or the ability to do that.
I love this on any sound system, and blasting it on a 7.1 is my fav
1:40 Always get goosebumps watching Jimmer Bolden singing his heart out (it's even more striking when you see his body language -behind the transcription).
YESSS YOU CAN TELL WHEN HE"S MODULATED BY LOOKING AT HIS BODY
@@confushisushi what is this song called?
@@kaylaherrera4544 If you look up Christopher Tin it's there, but just as he links the full vid in this description it's "Waloyo Yamoni"
Yeah, he went from this bright trumpet to the biggest baddest trombone around. I’m sure he felt it in his whole body, all the resonance freely ringing.
Hey how are you doing now
This song is about calling the rain. I was singing this with my partner on the balcony one day and IT ACTUALLY STARTED RAINING! It was amazing. I want to sing this with my choir so badly.
Hey sorry but can you hold off on your rain singing magic please. I'm in the west and the floods are coming because of too much rain and snow
@@michaelbarker6460 my bad. ^_^ Be safe!
@@michaelbarker6460 Go on your balcony and sing "here comes the sun, little darling"
Hey, quick question. What language is that?
@@MeanGreenMotherFrom From what I could find it is in Lango, mainly spoken in South Sudan.
The mutual smile between conductor and singer/musician is such a deep joy. You can almost see their thoughts.
Yes, almost. But you can't see them.
😢😂😅t😢😢4
Christopher Tin also wrote the themes for the Civilization video games, and all of the themes are really epic. The theme for Civilization IV, "Baba Yetu", has The Lord's Prayer in Kiswahili for its lyrics, and was also the first video game soundtrack to win a Grammy. Really impressive composer all around
My gamer symphony orchestra performed Baba Yetu, and because of illness, I had to step in at the last minute to be the soloist for it. I've been singing in church choirs for nearly 40 years now and I've never had a piece move me as much as that did. Even when I performed it, I cried during the bridge, because I described the solo part during it as the closest thing to "the Spirit moving me". We did it a second time with the original soloist doing his part and both I and the alto soloist got even MORE emotional from it. That song just has a power to it that I can't put into words.
Couldn't agree more... powerful and uplifting. Thank you all involved. More...more...
Went to a university concert focused on video game music, it was great. Some Zelda I think, and others
@@pattyamato8758 There's a number of Gamer Symphony Orchestras/Video Game Orchestras around the world, some of which are college/university-oriented. I think the University of Maryland is one. But a number of others (like mine) are just community orchestras with non-professionals that get together out of their love for music and video games.
Thanks for the info, interesting facts!
0:12 This man's voice is incredible. I have chills everywhere.
Yes, you do! Everywhere!
