Seems to be a lot of preparation in another pan first. I thought a slow cooker was about putting it all in there but looks as if there's quite a bit of washing up of other things too.
Ok , I will confess, I never review TH-cam recipes.....until now. I made this Chicken Casserole tonight, and it is a keeper. Its the ultimate cold weather comfort food. I pretty much followed the recipe , but as its an adult household I added a half cup of white wine to the sauce gravy... Half an hour before I served it I added a 12 ounce bag of frozen green peas and let them heat in the sauce. I found that my slow cooker had done its job at around 3 hours and 15 minutes. Any longer and everything would have been overcooked. I served it over garlic mashed potatoes along with green beans in a shallow bowl to catch that gravy. It was perfect and we each had seconds. Its tasty hearty and filling. My kind of meal.
Not sure if you know that adding wine, or any other alcohol to a recipe, cooks off the alcohol so there is no need to only do this in "an adult household". Love your additions to this recipe!

This was beyond my expectations for a chicken & veg casserole. When you're tired of Thai and curry this was lovely comfort food. Followed the recipe exactly (as always spot on) but added a little bit of pancetta. Searing in the pan beforehand certainly makes a difference and it was so delicious and tasty - great alternative to a Sunday roast when you're out all day or just busy. Your recipes never fail me and are my go to now.
I just followed this recipe but added some broccoli half an hour before I ate it & it was amazing. Thank you for a great recipe I'll never forget & I can now impress the next girl who comes for dinner... 😊 Yay
I think we've all made a million crockpot recipes and they all taste the same. This was amazing. I made this last night and it was incredible. I cut up chicken breasts into thigh-size filets and it fell apart beautifully when done. It was the most tender chicken I ever had in a crockpot. I added baby potatoes and used about 8 -10 cloves of garlic - we can't get enough garlic in out household :). I tripped the celery stalks, used whole carrots rough chopped and seasoning as directed. I wasn't sure how busy my day was so I made as directed so it started on high for an hour then switched to low for 5 more hours. Dish was incredible. I think the results were fantastic not only because of the perfect blend of seasonings (yes common but just the right portions) but also did not use a non-stick pan so all the caramelized bits from the chicken and onions blended together in an incredible, 5 star restaurant rue. Fantastic dish. Family couldn't stop raving about it. Thank you!

Great recipe! I especially appreciate the non dump and go method, so much flavor is added by just browning the chicken and the 15 minutes it takes to create the sauce. That’s cooking with love, the secret ingredient 😃😃
Same here. It’s a great way of adding in lots of different vegetables, often ones the family “think” that they “don’t like” or that they say “eww I don’t eat eat parsnip, celery, pumpkin” etc… yet when it’s in a casserole they eat it and enjoy it. When it’s cooked in a slow cooker / crock pot, it’s always more delicious and certainly easier and less time consuming.

I love this recipe because I always have most of the ingredients needed in my cupboard so I only go and buy fresh chicken and veggies. It normally last us for 2 days so one day we eat it with mash potato and the other day with rice and it tastes delicious.

I've been hesitant to try making chicken casserole again after I got ill from making it last time. I didn't realise you needed to cook the chicken thighs on the hob first and then cook then in the oven for a further 45 or so minutes! Im looking forward to making it again soon and hoping for a better result!

We made it today and it was honestly the best chicken casserole that we have made and as we cook most days of the week, I have tried a more than a few. Although I used caraway seeds as a substitute for the celery salt, because my local store didnt have any. We have tried several of your dishes and I thought that the halloumi burger was my fave, but this recipe tops it. The whole family loved it. Thank you again Jane :)
