"When I met Lemmy I was a snake handler for Alice Cooper."
That might be the most rock and roll start to a story I've ever heard.

    • @jonclymer2572

Scott's story is true. I met him in 2000 when he was wearing this giant buffalo looking helmet at the Rainbow. He's originally from Pennsylvania and his snakes can be seen on that 70's show with Cooper. Sadly, some of his snakes died in a house fire a few years later including my favorite, a white boa.

I've spent over 40 years as a rock and roll audio engineer and only twice did someone's death literally reduce me to tears. The first was Ronnie James Dio and the second was Lemmy. Maybe it's because they were two of the most decent and real human beings I ever met, rock star or otherwise.

Lemmy's death was one of the only Celebrity death that actually hit me hard. It still hits me 5 years later. Watching some of these made me tear up as well. No shame, Lemmy was a humble and honest man that everyone loved.

Fuckin A, I met RJD one day on Holkywood. Just walking down the street at like 11 am. Met eyes, I said hello and love your new album(Dream Evil just dropped) and he shook my hand and said thanks and went on his way. So approachable and just a real guy.

Lemmy and Neil Peart for me, but yes. Still...all we can do is celebrate them, which I truly believe is what they'd want; after a certain amount of necessary and entirely human grieving has passed, what's the point of any more tears? Pick up the ball they put down, carry it somewhere new and have the best fucking time you can while you do it. That's how you honour both them and yourself.

I used to hang out with Lemmy when we were in our late teens he was with a group we hung out with called the Rocking Vicars in Blackpool. We used to go to nearly all their gigs.that was in 1966 and he came to my 21st birthday party. He played lead guitar in those days and he was just like Pete Townsend with is putting guitars through speakers and also paying it with a cymbal before launching it across the stage. It was beautiful to see. He was always really friendly and I became a huge fan. i was in tears when I watched this on the night it was broadcast. I still have all his tracks with the rocking vicars we used ti record their gigs , The Vicars toured all over the country and we were there most of the time we never got seeing the sets we must have seen them hundreds of times. I still see the other member's of the group. He was ace I also have his Album Sam Gopal . He was the best in Hawk Wind when he toured the U.K and came anywhere near Blackpool we went to visit him he remembered me when he met me again which was in 1985 and we had a great night , We reminisced about his Blackpool days. I really miss him and those few years were the best days of my life

In this case, a life with / for music.

Lemmy's son Paul was amazing and so thoughtful in his speech for his father. You could really feel the love. Lemmy was unique and I loved the raspy voice.. It is ashamed that we lost yet another legend. He definitely is in Rock N Roll heaven along with Peter Steele, Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, Chris Squire, Bowie, Keith Emerson, Scott Weiland, Jon Bonham, Ronnie James Dio, Kieth Moon, John Entwhstle, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jon Lord, Layne Statley, Lou Reed, Randy Rhodes, Dimebag and others that past and died too soon. Very sad but a wonderful celebration of his life.

He wasn't in it for the fame or the money, he was in it because he loved he loved it so much. On Halloween night sometime in the early eighties, I went to see Motorhead at the Town Hall, Middlesbrough in the UK. I got right at the front of the stage were Lemmy would stand. I was a budding guitarist at the time but that night nearly made me switch to bass. Lemmy and Motorhead were the greatest thing I had ever seen and still to this day I will never forget standing in front of the great man Lemmy. RIP

I remember watching this when it was first streamed, now every time I come back to it I cry more and more each time.
My dad raised me on Lemmy and Motörhead, so whenever I come across this video it fucks me up more and more each time.
For anyone watching this for years to come, remember to raise a glass for the godfather of Rock N' Roll - It's what he would have wanted.
    Love you, Ian. Rest Easy.

I'm crying now Brother. I saw him for the last time just a couple months before he died, I could tell by his performance that it would probably be the last time I saw him, sadly it was. I watched this when it took place live whole drinking Jack&Coke, and a wee bit of go, crying my eyes out. Lemmy has been my hero since the very early 80's. He will forever be my hero and my inspiration for daily living. Damn, fucking getting choked up again. WE LOVE YOU LEMMY!!

I was a young man I remember hearing this band and seeing them a few times on MTV.. Discussions about the raw sound and power of
MOTORHEAD, and never was a about the band that lead to people or fans mention this powerful band and there Singer / Bass player that went by the name LEMMY that welded this mighty Bass his weapon of choice which would be this huge Rickenbacker I would learn later on became a bass player myself to he was a big man it fit him if his personality it's not the fanciest looking but it commands respect and power you can count on it that's for sure just like him to stay true to his words he will be missed but not forgotten he asked all of us to when we thought about him not have tears in our eyes so I'm respectfully biting him back and saying let me doing the best I can brother doing the best I can and that's all we can do one day at a time or I'll meet the end or I'll meet you again in the end so it's not goodbye it's we'll see you down the road, REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER.. LEMMY THE KILMISTER..

Lemmy was a true rock and roll original and he unlike almost everyone in the music biz was exactly who he was and didn't try to be hip, the next big thing or whatever...Lemmy was real and he had real character and bravado to match. Helluva bass player in Hawkwind as well as the Motorhead maestro. Kudos to Bob Kulick, Matt Sorum, Slash and Rob Halford for their heartfelt and sincere eulogy and Lemmys son Paul. (And everyone who paid tribute to the legendary Lemmy
