Ever wondered what was the purpose of vents? Why are they a norm in menswear classic jackets? But more importantly, how do they affect the fit on a muscular guy? In this video we explore those questions

Thanks man, the visual was what I was looking for, not just a dude talking into the camera about vents.
Also, yeah I do BBDLs and SLRDLs, so I got a little bit of an engine back there (well relative the size of the rest of me anyway). I wouldn't want double vents opening all the time just from moving normally.
    Appreciate the specific info.

I am a big guy who lifts, however my butt never got particularly large like the rest of me, so double vent works well. As you mention, double vent can also be the sign of a custom or more expensive jacket.

The only ventless jacket you should ever own is a tuxedo. All suit and sport coat jackets should have vents. The double vented jacket is not only sign of superior quality, it will also fit most men better. The jacket in the video was not made of wool and it is not canvassed, and that is why it didn't lay as nicely, although it still looks better than the single vented jacket. The single vent is a more casual look, usually reserved for casual sport coats, and really only looks good on thinner guys. All jackets should be tailored to fit you. A cheaper tailored jacket is going to look better on you than an expensive jacket that doesn't fit right. This is especially true if you are muscular, because if you buy a jacket that is big enough for your arms, chest, and shoulders, it will likely be far too big in the midsection. And getting the sleeve length right is very important too.

Whoaa....was I wrong. Okay, okay. Hmmmm. Well, I must say, the guys I saw wearing the no vent jackets WERE IN FACT, tall and rather slim. And yes, I thought of it as a more European or Italian style jacket when I saw them...so. Interesting. By the way, if you want to really build your glutes, Bulgarian Split Squats hit the glutes way more than even Ass to Grass squats. big difference I felt. Cheers, Ian.

Do you think sleeve length is as important on casual jackets and sports coats as on a suit ? Torso length is also an issue as your chest to waist and hip ratio is bigger than normal.

Every aspect of the fit on a suit is important. If your sleeves are too short, it will look like you are trying to wear a jacket that you had when you were a kid. If the sleeves are too long, then it will look like you are wearing your father's jacket. That being said, traditionally, on a blazer or a more casual sport coat, the sleeves should be a touch longer (1/4"-1/2") as you won't always be wearing it with a long sleeve dress shirt underneath.

For some reason with FMS videos, I freeze after 40 seconds and make my comment, then restart the video and see what Ian's thoughts are. I'm really starting to look into NO vent jackets. I've see several guys wear them, and for some reason I liked them better than the single vent jacket. The double vent looks too British for my tastes. Not sure if it even works with my body type. Okay, time to restart the video. I feel like Ian is going to go with NO vent jackets as well....

I can't stand single vented jackets. I avoid them at all cost. Like you said, it gives me old man vibes. I also don't like that my butt shows when I put my hands in my pocket lol
Show off that butt! Women like em too haha
The only exception in my closet are those cool knit jackets from John Henric.
