The original Mass Effect released back in 2007 and has gone on to become one of the most successful franchises for BioWare. Mass Effect is the first in a series that includes Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was announced in November 2020 with a May 2021 release date, and is a full remaster of the entire original Mass Effect trilogy. It will be released for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

These devs are absolutely hilarious! My favourite Dev react to speedrun ever. They seem to really love mass effect but also aren't shy of making a joke at its expense
They're not actually devs of this game. Crystal McCord, Kevin Meek and Renata Cronin didn't even work at BioWare when they made Mass Effect. You been lied to.

Definitely the best dev run I've seen in awhile. Super casual and stays on topic while making fun of what's happening around em. Personality isn't lacking at least between these folks.

41:00 If you don't recruit Wrex he's not appearing in ME2 nor ME3 and some characters refer to him as if he was dead.
I'm assuming he dies trying to reclaim his family Armour but its just a hunch

Wrex was still in choras den when the geth showed up. He fought his way out with 2 asari strippers and went on the run with them in the terminus systems. This is definitely canon

Seeing Wrex and Garrus talking in an elevator is what made me got a xbox 360 lol. It was my first game on that. I'll never forget connecting my console to my parents HD tv with the hdmi cable and being blown away, the game looked so real lol

Only Brenon is the only one from the original mass effect and reneta is a "producer" no part in game development

They had to use devs from the remaster because all of the original Bioware devs fled the company.

Game devs just need to get speed runners to test their games.
Not really. The bugs and glitches that speedrunner use often take months or years to find.

@@kwedl it’s more of a community effort, glitches don’t take long to find, but to implement them in to routes etc requires strategising, QA testers don’t do that.
I've heard some places do it. Halo 5 is an example. Apparently they had 3 categories of testers; Standard players, completionest & speedrunners. Obviously they won't find everything glitch, but they know what kinda of geo and types of areas to check to get outta bounds etc. Also to check if they're scripting and load zones can match up to someone just running through a level without stopping to kill everything.
@@kwedl And the speedrunners aren't even the ones who find them. They're simply the ones who combine the specific bugs that can be exploited to speed up the run, and play through it thousands of times to build them into muscle memory.
You shouldn't call this "Original Mass Effect Developers React to Speedrun" if only one of them actually worked on making the game. This is like repainting a house and then saying you built it.

It's an imperfect title, but a more apt metaphor would that they completely rebuilt the house, brick by brick. That does make them experts in a sense.

@@nicholsonfile They didn't rebuild it from scratch. AI did a lot of the textural work. If it was completely remade the cutscenes would have been a lot better.

Just reuse assets from the games and have him turn up everywhere a few steps behind Shepard so he can get into misunderstandings and mix-ups with the people left to clean up Shepard's mess etc.

So funny how game devs are so often just clearly not gamers at heart. Even right off the bat, gamers would understand the combat sprint strategies right away but their minds are completely blown haha

Yeah they're planted suits, pretty obvious. Producers aren't "devs" they're staff people.

Only brenon. Renata isn’t even associated with game development at all, she is a „web producer“.
The other two joined BioWare about 6 years ago and worked on andromeda/anthem.

If you look up mass effect speedruns they end the time when you kill sovereign. The game even saves like this, there’s no save afterward not even for the council.
So in ME2 when they ask if you chose Anderson or Udina, that’s because there’s no save data for it since it’s after Sovereign and this last save.

Maybe one of them, but none of the OG bioware devs are still at the company. most of the relevant people left.

I'm disappointed that the folks over at IGN got the ME: Remaster devs, instead of the original ME1 devs...These people do great work but their input is...not valuable on what went into the original game. They weren't the ones making design decisions or what have you. Where's the original devs?
