  • In this video I recone, refurbish and restore the iconic Cerwin Vega Stroker subwoofer that I was fortunate enough to pick up. It is a 15” Dual 4 ohm version and currently does not work. But will soon be back to life stronger than ever!

    I've got the 12" 4ohm DVC variant. Believe it or not, my homeboy found it on the side of the road on garbage day. I built a 2.7 cube box (as spec'd) for it, and proceeded to drop quad like it was 1992 again. POWERFUL attack, sharp decay, but doesn't play very low like it's 15" and 18" big bros. Still fun though. Eagerly awaiting your follow-up video.

Sounds like you hit gold now a days its platinum🤭 I no video will never do it justice so I got to ask what is you real opinion on a old school sub does it hang or surpasses new subs in the 300$+ range today. This will help a good long time friendly long going arguments 🤔😉✌️👍👌 till the next one

    • @NextLevelCarAudio
      @NextLevelCarAudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you consider all things equal, these definitely run with the big boys.... however, if you consider the initial price point of when these were new back in the 90's. they were over $1,000 each! if you contrast that to what you can get new today.... a sundown ZV5 for example is only $850 retail..... The ZV5 will annihilate it in SPL, excursion, longevity, etc... But, subs like the ZV5 did not exist... the stroker WAS the BEAST back then.

    • @ddtstrc9678
      @ddtstrc9678 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The stroker was a impressive sub but compared to today's standards you would probably not be very impressed or even disappointed at its performance. I'm old enough to have experienced it from the beginning of car audio till now and there is no comparing the equipment of to day to the equipment of the 90s. Usually you'll hear some older person talk about a subwoofer or amplifier they own 25 plus years ago and how powerful or how good the performance was but then get a demo of today's equipment and they absolutely shit themselves. I presley get this argument all the time and the way I explain it to people is would you put a first Gen Playstation against a PS 5 or even 4 no you wouldn't. How about a TV from the early nineties compared to a 4K TV to day.
