I worked as a chef for 6 years and in our store we had a table at the window from wich you could see the entire street. So a lot of people wanted to sit there/reserve that spot. The fucking meltdowns and people claiming that this was apparently their spot cuz they are regulars was mindblowing

I once had a lady get on her knees and beg me to trim her dog's nails. I work the front desk at pet emergency room. We were in the middle of bringing in a great dane with bloat (which is deadly) on a gurney. She even saw us bring it in. Her dog is less than 25lbs and is very aggressive and will not let her trim his nails. We DO NOT offer grooming services because we are strictly emergency only. She has an alert on pet's medical history file that says she comes to our emergency room just to ask us to trim her dog's nails and that we have to tell her no if she asks for a nail trim. I told her weren't going to do it and why and she cried. It was the middle of the night. Shit makes me mad.

    Personal experience:
The adult in question is my 64 year old aunt
I get home from work she doesn't follow me around like she normally does, but I don't question it because I don't want to ruin the peace.
Once I'm naked and heading into the shower she asks if I can go buy fast food.
I sigh and say "I'll be extremely grateful if next time you ask me before I'm off the car, naked, and about to get in the shower. I'll get it after I shower."
She started yelling, saying things like "Fuck it! Don't buy me shit anymore! I'll reheat some fucking leftovers! Go get junk food for yourself, but I don't want shit anymore!"
So I shrugged and went into the shower while she boiled some Pasteles (Puertorrican food)
When I get out of the shower, she goes get her pasteles. Instead of pulling it out of the hot water with tongs, she took the whole pot and spilled the water down the drain, the pot facing her and in a swift motion, splashing boiling water over her.
"IT'S YOUR FAULT I GOT BURNED!"
"No, it's your fault, cause you never serve your pasteles like that, you normally pull one out with a fork"

I've commented these before but they still haunt me. Two stories involving grown-ass men (in their 40's or 50's) and their sodas. 1) I worked in a convenience store. One day when the Coke truck came they were out of Diet. We had plenty of other kinds of soda, just no Diet Coke. No one seemed to mind except for one guy who burst into tears and cried like a baby, in public, when I explained the situation. There was literally a drive-thru on the same block and 2 more stores just a few blocks away and two grocery stores within a 5-minute drive. The guy just stood there weeping and yelling at me for several minutes. 2) I was working the drive-thru window at a Wendy's. A man ordered a large Coke. Nothing else. When he got to my window he ordered me to remove the tax from his bill. I said there was no way to do that. He gave me a lecture about how the government has no legal standing to charge tax on Coke. I told him he needed to pay the 6 cents. This man then screamed, and I mean screamed, "YOU'RE A MONSTER!!!" and peeled out.

Went to breakfast with an apt. neighbor. They had $5 specials but I spent a whopping extra $1 dollar & got the breakfast burrito. He's a big man. Saw the waitress put down this big honkin' burrito in front of me & then place his flat little breakfast quesadilla down in front of him. Goes off: "Five bucks & this is all I get?" I died inside. The poor girl stammered out, "W-what did you expect, sir?" He launches into a tirade how this is enough to feed him, how he'll still be hungry when he leaves, etc., etc., all right in front of his daughter & my 2 kids. Had the manager, assistant manager & waitress all standing around him while he repeats his sob story, over & over, until they finally agree to give him a free paper cup full of pinto beans. Thanks, Cameron!

I was at a store buying a shower curtain, and I found one I wanted on a high shelf so asked the young man working there if he'd please climb up and get it for me. He gets a ladder and climbs up to the shelf in question, and as I'm pointing out which curtain I want his boss comes by and starts screaming at him. I do mean SCREAMING; she was hitting notes most sopranos can't hit. Anyway, I raised my voice and yelled, "Excuse me, he's helping me!" I've got a carrying voice so I yelled louder than she did. She turned to me and screeched, "This is none of your business!" I yelled back, "You're doing it in front of me. That makes it my business." I then turned back to the clerk and said, "That's the right one." He climbed back down the ladder and handed me the curtain, and I thanked him and walked away as the shrieking started back up. I went to Customer Service and complained, and from what the clerk there said I wasn't the first to complain about that department manager tht night.

My boss is a pretty well-known and successful small business owner in our city, he literally runs events for the city. I'm the receptionist at his office. I get people walking in and/or calling always saying the same thing "I know/ I'm an old friend of/went to high school with [boss]..." before telling me to get my boss so they can speak to him.
It's pretty much the same vibe, and it's always bullshit. Like, if you actually knew my boss, you would know that he's not available in the middle of the day because he hosts a daytime radio show five days a week. Even beyond that, he's a busy man who runs around more at 70 than most people did in their 20s. His assistant and I joke that he has a Portal machine, that's how fast he's off to the next thing.
There is no, "I want to speak to [boss]", aka, "Do you know who I am?" Let me get your name and number, and maybe, if he recognizes your name, he'll call you within the next few days. "Does [boss] have a few minutes?" gets you better results. I'll actually go find him and ask, if he's in the building, but your chances of catching him are slim.

This incident took place over a 24 hour period in August 2019.
My husband (then 57 yrs old) had the mother of all adult temper tantrum meltdowns. He was stomping, screaming, cussing, slamming doors, cabinets and drawers and breaking things. Just being an all around douche bag ass hole. This started on a Thursday morning, continued all that day and night, then into Friday morning... AS I AM PREPARING TO ATTEND A VERY CLOSE FRIENDS FUNERAL!!!

The Panera one reminds me of something that happened to my brother when he worked at Panera. He got a job there for a summer. He did his training, then they scheduled his first day solo on the cash register on a relatively low-traffic day. He only had like a dozen customers.
The next shift, his manager asked him to come to the office. The manager started by saying “ok just so you know l, you aren’t in any trouble, but we got a complaint about you. We know you didn’t do anything wrong because we looked at the tapes but we were wondering if you knew anything that would help explain this.”
My brother was confused because all of his transactions went well and no one seemed unsatisfied, so he asked to see the complaint. The complaint, which is turned in on the web site using a number on the receipt, said “this was the worst service I’ve ever received. You shouldn’t have hired this [n-word]”. He was particularly confused because my brother is white.
They looked at the tapes and there was nothing weird about the transaction and my brother remembered the guy and he seemed normal.
Just weird. It’s always possible someone else got their hands on the receipt and sent the report but honestly who knows?

Then I actually got to pop the balloons then had another hissy fit because they refuse to pop, even when I stabbed them with a knife or stamped on them.

Back in 2006, I worked as an office assistant in a small telemarketing office. Honestly, yes, it was a bit scammy, but it was for the Shriners, so "you're helping the children". It was a pretty sketchy business and the owner pretty much hired anybody that could dial a phone and speak.
This one guy was pretty memorable, his mother sat in on the interview. That probably would have been a red flag for most employers, but the owner was an idiot. The guy comes in and sits on the phone growling all night. Like, I don't think he even went through the script one time. He'd just growled at the phone. Either people weren't picking up or he was getting hung up on. At least, I hope people weren't picking up only to hear this guy growling at them. After about two hours of this, he stood up angrily, screamed at the phone, and stomped out. Never to be seen again.
His mother finally came and got his check about a week later. I'm just glad the guy didn't Hulk out on us.

I accidentally cut someone in a smart car (the really tiny one) turning left on my way out of the parking lot at work. It's a busy, almost blind left turn onto an intersection, so it's a little harrowing on a busy day. I didn't see the car because it was so fucking small and it was white. The guy swerved around me and stopped so suddenly I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting him. He comes flying out of the car screaming at me so loud everyone at the intersection was looking at him. All I could do was say, "Sorry, man, I didn't see you," and then just sit there and wait until he was finished. IIRC it took him a full round of lights on the intersection to yell himself out. I was pretty shaken up and felt bad for cutting him off, but I've been cut off many a time at that same intersection and all I did was grumble about it instead of hopping out and screaming at someone. It's not that big of a deal, bro. Take a breath.

I’ve usually just assumed the high price of some of my medication‘s has to do with their newness, a couple of my prescriptions. I’ve only been out for the last 10 years or so, maybe even less than that. Usually the patent hasn’t worn off yet, is that true? Am I barking up the right tree here? If not, that’s OK, I usually keep thinking that whatever fee I am paying for the medication is going for research and development. How be your fault if she got fired because she didn’t have her Adderall? Last I checked, and this was a while ago, you don’t dictate when the script get in, do you?

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned through life experiences and through reading other peoples experiences on Reddit it’s that getting angry at a person making minimum wage is not worth it, plus it also helps that it’s kind of in my nature to be as kind of people as possible, like I could be fuming mad while shopping but I would never ever ever take it out on an employee because they don’t deserve that they get enough abuse as it is, especially when it comes to the post pandemic days so if I have a message for the general populous it’s this, treat people the way you would want to be treated and don’t let your emotions run away from you even if you’re profoundly disappointed and angry.
Also if you are in the upper echelon don’t let your popularity get to your head because then people are going to start not liking you, i mean just look at Lin-Manuel Miranda, he seems to be always kind, always positive and always happy, we really should strive to be more like him, and that…is the gods honest truth

About 20 minutes later he came back claiming that the sender returned to the store and fixed the issue but presented me the same receipt, again I couldn't do it because he didn't have the alteration performed on that receipt. The sender calls yelling and threatening to come see me if I didn't cash it, I didn't cash it and told him that if he can't present the evidence then obviously he didn't go make the alteration. So last month me and some friends went to go see the Five Nights At Freddys movie. We went in and took turns getting our tickets and popcorn. I went first, the man at the register was getting my stuff and out of nowhere this man (who was another worker at the theater) interrupted us and started arguing at the register guy about him telling lies about him stealing something. The register guy replied I don’t know what you’re talking about. The pissed of man screamed BULLSHIT IVE BEEN READING ALL THESE THINGS YOU HAVE BEEN TEXTING TO PEOPLE!!! and I’m over here just in disbelief thinking what the fuck, but the register guy replied with I’m just doing my job I’m not trying to do anything to harm anyone I’m just trying to get people to follow rules. The pissed off man said you know what…YOU’RE FUCKING PATHETIC!!!!!! and I turned around and looked at the boys like is this dude serious? as he proceeded to scream and cuss at the register guy then another worker came and was trying to get him off the register guy and he turned her and started screaming at her for like 2 minutes she was actually about to call the police and after that he quit his job mid shift and stormed out the building we finally got our popcorn and tickets. I asked the register guy what that guy was so pissed off about he replied with that guy new here and apparently the rules of this job don’t apply to him.

Sorry…but story number one makes no sense. The COP told you that the offender had done his thing with the brakes 50 times and had been arrested five times? Ummm…okay. Either cops in the US have a completely different definition of professionalism or that story is BS. For a cop to reveal an individual’s legal past in that way is entirely unprofessional and if done here in Canada would earn said cop a serious reprimand. It also seems a bit odd the the OP would just HAPPEN to bump into someone else that crazy driver had pulled his brake-trick on. Maybe if you were in a small town….but in Portland? Whichever Portland you happened to be in. Nah….the whole story doesn’t ring true.
